This is a very good book about a man who starts from a small town and rises to the rank of general by the time WWII comes around. He goes into his time at West Point and after he graduates and how he begins his career. He then becomes a training officer during World War One and works in supply which later becomes a quartermaster. The men he meets along the way will help him in the future for promotions and other jobs that he is up for. When World War Two began he began more training and then was given the task of leading the 4th Infantry Division from the D-Day landing and fighting through France, liberating Paris to just name a few. Because of ongoing illnesses, he is later rushed to a hospital and sent back to the States. Based on letters and a discovered diary this is a really good read. I found it to be very interesting.
