Great read. Well-developed characters. Easy to follow storyline with low drama. Would highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to pass a couple of hours.

This was a nice pallet cleanser. It was sweet, funny and an overall good time.

Sabrina is on break from her new fiance, David. He thought they should take time to really feel the relationship. Jack, the boss' son, is given the task to emotionally grow up if he wants to move up in the ranks at work. Jack proposes that Sabrina and him fake date/fake get engaged to show his dad/board members emotional growth and get David jealous enough to realize what he is missing out on.

The cuteness flowed from there. The two gradually become friends and learn each others quirks, strengths and weakness. They enjoy one another as people and eventually want to become the real thing. I do wish Sabrina would have been given a promotion and not a raise.

There is little angst and little to really work through, which is fine. Every now and then we need a very simple no stakes read. (Even when there were stakes it didn't feel as one).

There are no sexy times. This ain't that kind of read. Just saying.

I received this ARC from Entangled Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. Final read was made via Hoopla via audio.

Sabrina and Jack are co-workers and complete opposites when it comes to love. She and her fiance are on a break but she wants him back. Jack does not want to settle down and prefers to play the field. When Sabrina wants to win her fiance back and Jack needs to appear settled they decide to try a fake relationship.

This story was cute and I liked the banter between Jack and Sabrina. She's not afraid to stand up to him and he enjoys their back and forth. There were some sweet moments between them, too, that allowed them to get to know each other better. I do wish there had been a few more to give the reader a chance to see more of their connection.

Overall, though, this is another good book from Jennifer Shirk and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

This story is everything I hoped for and more from the blurb......I swooned and I laughed which is what I hope the author intended for us readers to do. Reading this has made me want to go back and read the rest of this amazing series. Would happily recommend

Fiancé by Fate by Jennifer Shirk was an absolute joy to read. I was smiling through more than half of the book. Sabrina’s fiancé has just broken up with
her because he needs some space. Jack is trying to convince his dad that he is settling down so that he can get the promotion at work. Jack convinces Sabrina
to be his fake fiancé so that they both can get what they want. It will make David jealous and he will want her back. It will make Jack’s dad think he is settling down
and growing up. As they work together and convince everyone that they are a couple they start to confuse reality with the fake relationship. The book explodes with witty
dialogue and tension between the characters. Fiance by Fate will be one of those books you pull out when you want a fun sweet romance to sink yourself into.
Jennifer had the exceptional ability to keep the story clean but create sizzle between the characters. Jennifer has a gift for developing characters to fall in love
with. Jack is swoon worthy. Sabrina is spunky and loveable. One of the best fake engagement stories I have read.
Violence
Language I do not recall any bad words.
Sexual Kissing. Sexual tension while remaining clean. Well written.
Drug & Alcohol She drinks too much wine in one scene.

This was a cute book. The ending was predictable, but that’s why I read it (come on, nobody reads this kind of book because they don’t know the ending already). The fun is seeing how the characters get to the ending.

Sabrina (“almost 30”) and Jack (34) are good together. He loosens her up a bit while not actively trying to change her; he’s supportive and kind. He’s not the typical trope of the womanizing man who finally decides to settle down for the right woman; in fact, he’s not really a womanizer at all—he’s just afraid to commit to anything besides his job and family. She helps him see that there’s more to life than work and that commitment isn’t something to dread. They really do bring out the best in each other, in addition to all of their clashing (it’s good, though).

The overall story was fun to read, and the bones of it were pretty sturdy. Like, if I gave a detailed summary of the book, I couldn’t think of anything wrong with it. But I kind of feel like it’s a starting point, like it needed a lot more polishing then likely happened between this ARC and the final copy. I’m not talking about technical details like spelling, word usage, punctuation and such. I’m referring mostly to dialogue and certain parts of the narrative. It frequently felt forced or awkward in a way that came out a bit cheesy rather than how I could ever imagine people actually speaking or thinking in real life. It lacked a natural feel that I look for in books.

And can I say, what man in his mid-30s is going to be disappointed that his niece and nephew have and use a Super Nintendo?! That’s what we in the mid-30s age range grew up with—Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Sega, etc. We’d all love to get our hands on our original gaming systems. Why else would there be a market for the throwback systems with all the preloaded games?

And I guess that kind of hits at the heart of another issue I had. It did not feel like the author knew anyone currently on the main characters’ age range. I have no idea what her age is, but many of the references and phrases used by the characters were a bit outdated for their ages. Because of that, the book felt somewhat old even though it was supposed to be current.

Aside from that, it was enjoyable to read, and I think it would make a really cute rom-com movie (attn: movie producers, who apparently have no imagination and can’t figure out where to find good source material). If it ever were a movie, I’d totally go see it.

As a side note, I appreciated that there was no sex in the book. That’s always what makes me hesitate to request romances on NetGalley—I don’t need (or want) sex scenes. Just give me a fun, cute love story. Yes, there is some great kissing. And yes, the word “sex” does appear in the book a few times, but there are no dirty conversations.

Note: Maybe a little swearing.

A deliciously fun, romantic story complete with a great plot and two main characters you'll love. This one has it all!
Sabrina is on "break" with her fiancé at his request. Since she believes in fate and after going to have her fortune told with her bestie, the few words she gets just serve to reinforce her belief that she and David belong together. The scene is hysterical. David is a safe bet, and Sabrina needs that in her life. She thinks every marriage should be like her parents who were killed in an accident and takes everything as a "sign." She has a job she loves and is a dedicated employee to the business. Bright, articulate and creative she's loved by her employer. Enter Jack Brenner who is the son of the boss.
Next in line to run the business and when Dad brings Jack back to the main office he thinks he's going to get the coveted position he pretty much feels entitled too. Sabrina and Jack have a tenuous relationship and having Jack back in the office has Sabrina a little edgy especially since Jack's father told him he needed to clean up his act a little and settle down so the board thinks he's serious about the business and his job. And Sabrina is now Jack's assistant. Just a little handiwork by Jack's father.
Faced with having to work with each other and trying to get along is a bit of a challenge, Jack loves busting her chops and Sabrina is at times an easy target, but she's no dummy trust me on that one.
When they both need mutual favors they strike a deal. Jack will help make David jealous and Sabrina will be Jack's fake girlfriend. And the story takes off and doesn't come in for a landing until the end and I loved every single minute of this one! It's a gooey, romantic easy read with two fantastically written characters and the dialogue is stellar! It's the perfect story!

This is my first time reading Jennifer Shirk & it won’t be the last. This book was very engaging, I didn’t want to put it down. Fiancé by Fate was a kind of sad, sweet, funny & sexy without the sex book. I laughed out loud through parts of it, cried, smiled & swooned as Jack & Sabrina flirted, argued, kissed& fell in love. I enjoyed how Sabrina had such faith in fate & how fate changed Jack’s life when she was thrust in his direction by none other than his father. I loved how both of them worked together to get what they each wanted only to realize when they got it that it wasn’t exactly what they really wanted. Definitely enjoyed this book & definitely recommend it.

This is a sweet romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sabrina is a smart businesswoman in her professional life, but somewhat needy in her personal life. When her fiance dumps her, she is left adrift, but is convinced/hopeful that he'll come back to her. Jack is the ultimate playboy with no intention of every getting married when his dad (and both his boss and Sabrina's boss) tells him his personal life is hurting him and the company and refuses to promote him until he cleans up his act. Since Jack knows how highly regarded his dad views Sabrina, he cooks up the whole fake dating thing, convincing Sabrina that her ex will become jealous and want her back if he sees her with someone else.....

Things work out too well and both Sabrina's ex returns and Jack's dad is proud of him, but as might be expected, somewhere along the way, the fake relationship began to feel real. Since neither knows how the other really feels, there is a fair amount of angst and misinterpretations that kept me turning pages as quickly as possible. Yes, it's predictable, but the journey was thoroughly enjoyable and a perfect light romance.

If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. I love this authors' work and have her on my must read authors' list.
