Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the eARC of “Ward D” by Freida McFadden in exchange for my honest review.
Amy Brenner is a medical student and she’s been assigned a night rotation on the locked psychiatric ward. She’s faced with trying to survive the night while being locked inside with someone trying to kill the patients/medical staff and dealing with her crazy childhood best friend.
In true Freida McFadden fashion, this read was filled with twists and turns. I enjoyed every minute of it. I was engaged from start to finish and wasn’t able to put this book down. I’d highly recommend this read, you won’t be disappointed.

As a person in the medical field this checked all the boxes for me. I love me some Freida but chefs kiss when she adds in the medical without being too medical.
Love it!

Mc Faddens book never disappoint.
This book was really good.
The characters well written and the mystery part kept me going all the way.

This was an okay book. Undoubtely well-written from a technical point of view. I didn't love the characterisation of the patients or the psych ward. There was also heavy use of the words 'crazy' , 'insane' and so forth which is not ideal. Psych ward patients are people that deserve compassion, I found the whole thing slightly offensive, to be honest. I feel the wholething could've been done differently without falling for outdated cliches.
Giving it 5 stars because I don't want my review ratio to be affected.

This book gave me all the thrills and chills! I could easily picture the ward and being there overnight was hell scary! Most of the patients were actually lovely but it was still haunting. I didn't see the twist coming and I had solved it wrong. A book to read at night to give you a fright!

Ward D by Freida McFadden is a taut, tension-fuelled psychological thriller that had me flying through the pages.
When medical student Amy is assigned to Ward D as part of her psych rotation, a single night will have her questioning the state of her own mind as she confronts the dangers and challenges that come as part and parcel of her assignment. Ms McFadden, once again, keeps the tension levels alternately high and simmering as she masterfully weaves a suspenseful narrative that will keep you fully, and uneasily, engrossed. 4.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for an ARC.

I will admit that this is not my favorite Frida McFadden book so far, however it is still good. I just missed the twists and turns that I got from some of her other books. There are still some epic reveals, but they are not on par with some of her other books in my opinion. As always Frida is a master at creating a creepy atmosphere for the reader to get lost in. This is a quick book so perfect for a quick read, or to snuggle up with on a cold night if you’re looking for some chills and thrills that have nothing to do with the cold. Thank you so much to Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.

I've come to the conclusion that Freida McFadden just doesn't do it for me. I know she has a huge fan following, but the main characters always seem younger than they are, the stories are super unbelievable, and there's always a shocking twist that usually isn't that shocking. I will say however that this was very readable and you can fly through it in one sitting, and I do get the appeal of just getting lost in a story.
2.5 stars, rounded up because I liked the other characters in Ward D, like Spider-Dan.
Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

McFadden is never a let down.
I always know I’m going to be in for a tense and unputdownable story when I pick up one of her books. This one may be one of my favorites to date. The characters are all great and the mystery/thriller aspect is spot on as usual.
I highly recommend McFadden as an author, and more specifically this book is a great place to start.

I love everything Freida McFadden writes. I love how simple, yet intricate her stories are. I mean, all of the characters were great and had backstories without the storytelling being too heavy. McFadden does a great job at weaving in little details throughout the story that always come as a shock at the end. It’s shock, after shock, after shock. Bravo!

This was the second novel I have read by Frieda McFadden, and I LOVED it!! Her writing keeps you on the edge of your seat with rich suspense and paranoia. The twists and turns throughout the book had me guessing constantly--to which I inevitably failed in the end—and had me engrossed in this book.
The characters are well-developed and complex, especially our FMC Amy. McFadden makes Amy's fears and paranoia throughout the novel more relatable and has me second-guessing myself throughout this thriller.
Without a doubt, Ward D deserves every one of these five stars. The ending was both shocking and satisfying with all loose ends tied, and a small happy ending I was rooting for since the beginning.

Ward D is a stand alone title written by Freida McFadden.
Ward D is an intense and suspenseful book about a med student fulfilling her psych rotation. When Amy is assigned Ward D she immediately starts to feel anxious due to previous events that happened in her teen years.
In the book, as the hours count down patients begin to disappear regardless of them all being locked up tight in the secure hall.
I know nothing about medical students, or psych wards, but a lot of the situations in this book seemed really far fetched! The main character really needed help! This author is a hit-or-miss for me, this particular book was a miss.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read and review this title.

Yet another amazing thriller by McFadden! I have yet to read one of her books and not like it! Her twists are great and I always get the plot twist wrong!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this book. This book is Amy's story a third year medical support who has a shift in "ward D". I always greatly enjoy books by Freida McFadden. This book had some great twists and turns and some nicely placed red herrings. I always expect great suspense and twists from this author. From the moment I started reading this book, i could not put it down. As usual Freida McFadden did not disappoint. If you enjoyed this authors other books, you should give this one a try.

What a great book. How do you handle things as an adolescent and how can that affect your future life. The book was fast paced and hard to put down.

Ward D is packed full of quick, bingeable, unexpected twists. The mental health representation is a little lacking, but I don’t read McFadden for realism.

4.5 stars out of 5.
Another great read by Freida McFadden. I was immediately drawn into the book and could not put it down. The characters were all pretty unlikeable but that really made the story better. I found myself constantly guessing what will happen next and what was reality. The reveal towards the ending was crazy and I did not expect that. If you are a fan of any of Freida McFadden's books, you will want to read this one!
In Ward D we meet Amy who is a medical student. She has to spend the night in the psych ward for part of her training. It turns out, this isn't her first visit to Ward D. Her best friend from high school spent some time here years ago. Amy is not looking forward to this at all but has no other choice. Weird things start to happen and Amy is left questioning her own reality.

This book is a chilling, psychological thriller that hooks you from the start. The sense of isolation and creeping dread in the locked psychiatric ward is palpable, and Amy’s growing suspicion about the sinister happenings keeps you on edge. The writing keeps you questioning what’s real and what’s a product of Amy’s fear, making you feel as trapped and uneasy as she does. The pace is relentless, with twists and turns that build up the tension to a terrifying climax. If you love suspenseful stories with a haunting atmosphere and a slow burn that spirals into terror, this one will keep you turning pages late into the night.

Ward D is a psychological thriller that follows Amy, a medical student on her first overnight shift in a mysterious psychiatric ward. The author does a great job of creating suspense. The isolated hospital setting is so vividly described that you can almost feel the claustrophobia and hear the eerie silence of the night. The twists and turns are non-stop, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, the story throws another curveball. If you’re looking for something that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this book is worth a try!
