The cover grabbed my attention, but the storyline held it! This is part of the More Than A Game series, featuring a woman named Ellie Hart, who applies for a job as personal assistant to a pro golfer Miles Day.

Annah Conwell was a new author to me and I am always looking for golf romances to read. However; I lost interest in listening to The Perfect Putt around the 47% mark as I found the insta love trope to be too much, especially for the FMC to go from hating golf to wanting to be by the MMCs side through it all. I was more a fan of the male narrator, Dillon Sickles, as he felt more immersive in the reading while Sybil Johnson made me want to speed up those chapters. I may pick up another book by Annah however; not in the near future.

The Perfect Putt is the second book in Anna Conwell’s More Than a Game series. Ellie Hart put aside her after college plans several years ago when her sister’s husband was killed in a tragic auto accident. Naomi had just learned she was expecting when Owen died. Ellie immediately relocated to Coastal Cove to be at Naomi’s side. Putting her business degree aside, Ellie took the only job she could find as a barista at the Coastal Cafe. Meeting her bills allowed her to regularly safe towards her goal of opening her own florist in Coastal Cove, but it just may take years.

Then Molly, Ellie’s friend and coworker, tells her of a personal assistant position where she would make more than double her current salary. The only issue is the job would be as pro champion golfer Miles Day’s personal assistant. Now, Ellie has never met Miles but she really detests golf and the arrogant golfers she has encountered. However, should things go well she will be opening her business in the not so distant future rather than her current lengthy timeline.

With Naomi and Molly encouraging Ellie to take a chance she does just that. Her organizational and people skills streamline Miles’s life helping with the stress he has felt since coming in second to his arch rival. For a fellow who comes from the most dysfunctional wealthy background and a lady focused on her family and goals, so much togetherness may just rechart futures.

This is a fun read but with some strong messages of overcoming one’s background and the kindness of putting others needs first. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

This is a cute, Hallmark type golf romance! Kissing only, lots of golf, and great side characters. This is book 2 in a series but can be read as a stand alone.

The audio was fantastic and on the shorter side. Recommended

This book was so good! I loved the narration and the story. I am not a golfer but this was a cute romance story involving the sport. The ending was really good and the fact that there was some romance tag back and forth and then they were able to be adults and stand up to a parent who was being awful really made it all come together.

Annah Conwell delivered a sweet but funny rom-com. This was a quick, light hearted read. I really enjoyed this book!

I like this series, generally and have read most of them so far. the leads in all books are a little stunded in emotional growth, but the books keep you going.

This was a fun story, full of opposites attract.
Ellie loves living in her cute little town; but she doesn’t love her job, so when the perfect opportunity comes up, she jumps on it, even if it means golf….
I really enjoyed seeing Ellie & Miles go from strangers; to boss & employee, to friends, to more than friends.
Ellie is a total spitfire, but she is also a sweet, smart, kind and caring woman, so when Miles maybe starts to feel things, things go sideways.
Miles has always been against relationships and love, what he never counted on was Ellie coming into his life and carving a spot out in his heart just for her.
There was plenty of banter & sass, found family, friendships and golf.

I love this story of two characters that are convinced they would never end up together. Seeing two people begrudgingly give each other a chance, and finding a friend and the possibility of more is always so lovely to see. The narrators in this story did a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life! I enjoyed every minute of listening to this one for a re-read of this story!

I have loved both book I have read by Annah Conwell! As a big sports romance fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

I unfortunately did not like this book at all. It was way too insta love for my tase considering these characters had little to no chemistry.

Also, why is it that so many romance books feature a FMC who wants to open a flower shop??

Anyways, this wasn't for me.

Ellie works in a small beach town coffee shop near a fancy country club. She’s trying to save money to open up her dream flower shop. Her friend gets her an interview for the assistant position of a big shot golfer, with a huge salary. The only rule: don’t fall in love with him.

Dual POV, golfer x assisstant, closed door.

It’s dual narrated and both of them speak enthusiastically. It’s low stakes and easy to listen to. I really enjoyed this on audio!

This book was sweet, cute and a quick read. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the world they possessed.

First half, solid 4; second half dragged it down.

I need authors to learn how to balance out a story and how to easily insert the idea of therapy for their characters.

This story leans so heavily on how incredibly terrible the male lead's parents are, that it becomes increasingly obvious how little the female lead's parents are mentioned. She never talks to them, and they never appear in the story other than to assure us that they're good and not dead. Her sister was widowed and for some reason it fell to a 23 year old sister to help her raise her baby? Why didn't these wonderful parents show up? The story could have used the balance.

Also, therapy... He needs therapy. The love of a good woman can't cure this level of childhood trauma. Kissing is not a confession, or an apology.

This story got really messy in the second half. It was disappointing.

The Perfect Putt was such a great story! It is book two in the More Than a Game series but can easily be enjoyed without reading book one. I did read book one, The Golden Goal, and loved it, so I was very happy to find out that Shaw and Sutton had some scenes in this book, as well.

Miles and Ellie grew to care for each other in such a sweet way. They definitely seemed like opposites when the story began. Ellie was not a fan of golf or professional golfers and Miles was determined to stay aloof and guard his heart from getting to know Ellie more. Yet, Ellie was a great assistant to Miles and they both began to really connect with each other as they worked together.

There were some big hurdles to overcome in the story, especially related to Miles’s dysfunctional family and his fear of falling in love. I listened to the audio book version of The Perfect Putt and it was beautifully performed in dual narration. I loved this story from start to finish, including the bonus epilogue that is available.

This was my second golf romance and I have to say they're definitely growing on me. I think hockey will forever be my fave sports romance, but golf is moving on up. Ellie and Miles were so cute and I adored seeing Sutton and Shaw again! I think Annah did such a wonderful job of connecting this book to the first one in the series. I really appreciate when crossovers are seamless and done well and this one absolutely delivered along those lines.

Ellie...I love how this girl loves her people, especially her sister and nephew. I really respect how Ellie put her dreams on hold to be there for her family (because they really are her whole world), but didn't ever give up on them. It was so neat seeing her sacrifice and fight for what she wanted...from her dream of owning a flower shop to giving in to her feelings for Miles. So many good things that gave all the feels!

Miles...Man, this guy definitely didn't win the parent lottery and it made me so sad that his mom and dad created such huge obstacles for Miles to have to battle through and overcome. But then again, that made it even more perfect seeing him finally give in after realizing that Ellie is his person. It was so satisfying to see Miles really give himself permission to be happy and stop holding back his undeniable feelings.

I didn’t expect myself to like a book about golf but here I am, giving it 4 stars. I guess that’s par for the book though (pun intended), since the FMC didn’t like golf either and yet she ended up being into it because she was into the guy playing it. I liked the way their romance developed and though I hated his parents I did like the way she stood up for him and for herself too.

Conwell does a great job of playing up the opposites-attract dynamic. Our heroine is down-to-earth and has her own ambitions that go far beyond being someone’s arm candy. Meanwhile, Miles is a commitment-phobe with a smooth smile and irresistible charm. Their back-and-forth banter is witty and fun, keeping things engaging as sparks inevitably fly.

The plot, while predictable, offers a fun journey into the world of golf and the glamorous yet challenging life of a sports star. It’s nice to see the heroine hold her own and remain focused on her personal goals, rather than falling head over heels right from the start. That tension between attraction and ambition makes for some nice slow-burn moments. There are no explicit scenes, so it’s perfect for readers who enjoy chemistry without the steam.

As for the narration, Sybil Johnson and Dillon Sickels bring the characters to life in a way that’s easy to listen to. Johnson gives the heroine a snappy, no-nonsense voice, while Sickels captures Miles’ charm and the occasional vulnerability behind his confident exterior. They complement each other well, enhancing the push-pull dynamic between the leads.

However, while the chemistry and banter are fun, the plot does stick fairly closely to the classic romcom formula—there aren’t too many surprises along the way. The "don’t fall in love" rule is a familiar trope, and while it’s executed well, it doesn’t stray far from expectations. The story moves at a light, breezy pace, but it lacks some depth, particularly when it comes to character development. The emotional stakes could have been raised higher, especially when dealing with Miles' commitment issues and the heroine’s goals outside of the romance.

The Perfect Putt by Annan Conwell is the second book in the More Than A Game series. This series follows a group of friends, comprised of professional athletes (hockey, golf, etc) and their sport agent. While the books are interconnected, they can be enjoyed as standalones.

Having listened to the first book, The Golden Goal, I had already been introduced to Miles. While I knew a bit about him, there was still many things I had yet to learn. I loved getting to see his hard shell soften with the help of Ellie. She was the perfect counterpart to him. In addition, it was super fun reconnecting and catching up with Sutton and Shaw. I cannot wait for the remaining books in the series to come out!

I had the pleasure of listening to this on audiobook. I found the narration, by Sybil Johnson and Dillon Sickels, to be well done. Their voice acting made the story fly by.
