The Perfect Putt was such a sweet story. I am not a huge fan of golf- just thinking about it makes me kinda wanna snore, but I requested this book because of the author. This is my second book by Annah Conwell, and she is quickly becoming an auto read author - especially if I am in the mood for a cozy, sweet and clean read. The best part- the FMC wasn’t a huge fan of golf either, so that made it a bit relatable. I liked both of the MCs and their banter and the ease of their friendship. I thought the writing and plot were great and had a fun time reading it. The audiobook had duel POV narrators and did a great job of becoming the characters and held my attention the whole way through. I would definitely recommend this author for those looking for quick and easy feel good reads.

A small town, opposites attract, sweet romance. Ellie is a wonderful sister and aunt. When her sister needed her most, she packed up her life, relocated and took a job to help out even though it meant putting her own plans on hold for what would probably be years. She did it with a whole, very sweet loving heart. When a new opportunity comes along to help her out financially, she jumps at the chance, even if it means working for someone she believes will be a pretentious entitled snob. Miles is not at all what she was expecting. He’s a great golfer, but is also a good person with emotional scars. Their banter is smart and witty as they discover who the other really is and they both let go of assumptions and open up to find their happily ever after. A very nice easy enjoyable listen.

I enjoyed this book, but less than the previous one in the series. Mostly, the places I didn’t feel totally bought in were on the characters back stories - especially the MMC, whose trauma was very much told instead of shown. However, I like the interconnected style of the series and getting to have a well-rounded view of the characters’ community and setting. This book was a light, fun sports romance, and I’m glad I picked it up.

I’ve been really enjoying this author lately but this book was a bit lacking for me sadly.
The love declaration felt sudden (they haven’t even kissed?). It felt like they had to say they are in love because it’s a romance novel and not because it makes sense in the story. Maybe that should’ve waited until after the tournament instead of just at the reconciliation. I mean…they weren’t even dating when they “broke up”.
Also, why does she hate golf so much? I don’t feel like that was addressed or answered at all..
I think the 3rd act breakup was completely unnecessary, should’ve just been a heavy discussion and fight. I don’t hate 3rd act breakups if they make sense to the story. With it being a breakup though, I felt it should’ve lasted longer, possibly into the tournament, to up the stakes. And the friends should’ve maybe been more involved in the reconciliation besides just the caddy.
Overall, I didn’t hate the book but I didn’t love it either. It was just slightly below average for the books I read and for this author.
For the audiobook specifically, the narrators were ok, I wouldn’t make a point to avoid either of them but I also wouldn’t particularly seek out other books they work on. Some of the voices they did felt wrong for the characters and sometimes the acting choices didn’t fit the words to me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ALC!

Ugh another sneaky sequel! Did not realize this was the 2nd in a series. So I think I didn't get as much out of it as I would have liked. It was cute but nothing to write home about. The build up and banter just wasnt there for me - came in too hot. But cute!

Closed door romantic comedy, no explicit scenes on the page, but there are steamier makeout scenes. Toxic parents in the present and loss of a loved one in the past
Ellie & Miles
Ellie needs some extra income to open up a floral shop, so she takes a job as an assistant to pro golfer, Miles. Unfortunately, she doesn't know a tee time from tea time or how to zip it during a swing.
I'm thrilled to see golf represented in a sports romance because I don't think there are too many out there. The author does a nice job of explaining the game, but for me it bogged the story down slightly since I'm quite familiar with the ins and outs of it. My hub plays practically every weekend (except for the next couple of months, since he broke his arm), I play once in a while and my dog is even named after one of the greats, Arnie. Family fun fact ~ he's left handed, but plays right handed and I'm right handed, but play left handed.
Loved Ellie's relationship with her sister and nephew. Her reason for hating golf seemed a little crazy in my opinion, but to each their own.
So I liked Miles well enough, but I'm kind of over the whole 'I can't ever settle down and fall in love because my parents are awful and terrible role models'. Don't get me wrong, they were a nightmare, but geez follow your own heart dude. He does have some pretty great friends to keep him in check.
Overall, full of sass, banter and some cute moments.
Series notes:
Book 1’s characters make some appearances, so it'd be nice if you read that one first, but I suppose it's not totally necessary.
Narration notes:
Overall, they both did fine. Dillon's female voice wasn't great, but I pretty much expect that now.

Milex & Ellie
- Pro Golfer X Assistant
- Strong friendships
- Small beach town setting
- Grumpy (her) x sunshine (him)
- Dual POV

I am loving that authors are giving us golf romances recently! As a golf girlie, I was very quick to request this audiobook from NetGalley.
Overall, I enjoyed the story, however Ellie was not my favourite FMC. I find I either absolutely love a grumpy FMC or cannot connect with the grumpy FMC at all, and there seems to be no in-between. Unfortunately, Ellie was one of the grumpy FMCs I struggled to connect with.
This girl HATES golf, like really hates it way more than what is reasonable given the circumstances. The only explanation as to why she hates it so much is because she thinks its a sport for the rich and pretentious. I kept waiting to find out that there was a golfer in her life that hurt her, or something to justify just how much she hates this sport while knowing nothing about it and never giving it a chance. It just seemed unreasonable to me? Like I cannot image hating something this much while knowing nothing about it or ever giving it a chance? But maybe that's just me. And this is coming from a girl who enjoys golf now, but never used to enjoy golf because I thought it was boring (but I never hated it to this level). To me it just demonstrated a lack of maturity in her character to paint every single person who plays a particular sport with the same brush. (I feel like this sounds like I'm taking it personally, which I assure you i'm not I would have felt this way if this was about any other sport as well.)
I really liked Miles' character. I felt like his back story and relationships with his parents really elevated his character while also adding a some well rounded depth.
This book was a very fast read/listen. It's on the shorter side and given there were some time jumps I would have liked a little more showing rather than telling about some scenes. Particularly scenes where were see the relationship develop more rather than being told the relationship has developed.
The narration by Sybil Johnson and Dillon Sickels was well done. Both narrators were easy to listen to and kept me engaged with the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced listener copy

Annah Conwell is quickly rising to the top of my "gotta read authors" list and after reading two of her sports romances now, I am convinced she is a must for this genre.
I loved the depth of her characters. This story was swoony and fun, but also so deep and really realistic especially when it came to Miles and his hang-ups for avoiding a committed relationship. I loved all of the golf aspects and I even enjoyed how Ellie was so against golf to begin with, but realized just how hard the sport is and the work it takes.
Miles and Ellie's chemistry and banter were delicious. This was just fun to listen to and escape into as a good romantic sports story. I listened to the audiobook version and really appreciated the dual narrators for this dual POV romance. I liked both Sybil Johnson and Dillon Sickels, their voices represented the characters well to me and I had no issues listening to them bring Miles and Ellie to life via audio.
I listened to an advance listening copy of this novel from Netgalley and Dreamscape Media. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one had some really cute moments, but there are some things I struggled with. I’m not sure if it was the narration, but I didn’t feel the chemistry between MCs. The characters did a lot of flip flopping that frustrated me.

I listened to this golf romance in two days. It was such a quick read with sweet found family, dual POVs with two narrators, and a boss/assistant dynamic that wasn't cringey. This is second in a series but I don't feel like I missed anything by reading this one first. I don't love the reluctant to commit trope, but it was an overall cute audiobook.
What I loved:
He takes care of her
He stands up for her
He calls her by a nickname
Closed door made sense for this story

Another amazing read by Annah!
Every book I have picked up so far by this author I have given a 5 star rating.
It has the perfect mix of sweet and swoony characters & moments, as well as some dark and relatable family drama.
I loved the FMC so much in this one. She was so witty and smart, and I loved the connection between the two main characters.
I was hooked right from the beginning all the way until the end, and I devoured it all in one day!
You get:
• Dual POV
• Sweet Romance
• Sports Romance

• HEA
I highly recommend this author! Available on KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook (Aug 27th).

This was so cute! I loved how fun and light hearted it was. I thought the banter was so good! I listened to the audiobook and the narrators were great! Overall I would definitely recommend this book if you love sports romance. This is also closed door so no spice!

The Perfect Putt is book 2 in Annah Conwell's More Than a Game sports rom com series. Professional golfer Miles Day hires a new administrative assistant, Ellie Hart. Determined not to allow their professional relationship to develop into anything more, their initial emotional walls begin to crumble as they get to know one another more and open up about their goals and dreams.
I haven't read the first book in the series, but I was still able to follow along just fine with this book treating it as a stand-alone. There were a few cameos from characters from the previous book, but nothing that was hard to understand from not reading book 1. In fact, the cameos served to spark my interest more in the series.
This book was a sweet and quick closed-door contemporary romantic sports comedy with low-angst and no language. Kisses/make-out only. Miles is challenged to grow past his family issues, and Ellie is encouraged to take up her dreams to buy a flower shop. While they each encountered small character growth, my overall impression is that the story/writing is too much like a Hallmark film for my taste. I didn't feel depth or connection to either of the main characters. The ideal audience for this book would be someone younger interested in a light-hearted clean sports romance, specifically a younger YA or New Adult audience who might connect better with more immature characters.
Since this book has dual POV, the audiobook had two narrators. Both narrators did an excellent job using variation in tone to imply different character's voices, and they both seemed age appropriate voice-wise to the age of the characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review this audiobook. My opinions are my own and in no way influenced by the author or publisher.

I love all of Annah's books, and I'll add this one to the list. Fun banter between Miles and Ellie, lots of chemistry, no swears, steamy kissing only, two or three brief mentions of alcohol consumption, and character growth. Content warning: past death of Ellie’s sisters husband, Miles' very toxic parental relationship. Narrators were wonderful!

I never thought I would come across a golf romcom, but here we are! This book kinda made me a golf fan!
In this book, we are following Miles & Ellie. Miles is the youngest golfer to ever win the masters, and Ellie thinks golf is for the rich, and pretentious. When the opportunity to be Miles’s personal assistant with a salary double what she was making comes along, she puts her hatred of golf aside in order to save money to accomplish her dreams.
These two were seriously so good for eachother. I loved that Ellie was able to help Miles stand up for himself to his parents, and realize that he is in charge of his own future. I loved Ellie’s no nonsense, sassy attitude and the banter that inevitably ensued between her and Miles. Miles stocking his fridge with her favorite drink was just the cutest!
The narrators were great, and I enjoyed listening! Thanks so much!

This was kinda cute, in a Hallmark kind of way.
Ellie and Miles are pretty decent main characters, although I did find Miles a bit much at times.
<spoiler>Miles’ parents are divorced and terrible people, so naturally (heavy eye roll right here) he thinks he’ll never have a happy, healthy relationship. Like a complete dumbass.
His parents were genuinely terrible in the one scene they were in, but honestly they weren’t super well flushed out as characters.
</spoiler>
It’s a nice quick read though, so if you like closed door romances, you might like this.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook, in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a quick and sweet Sports Romance. I really loved it being centered around the game of Golf because I feel like there just aren’t enough Golf Romances out there. I also really liked the dual narration, both narrators were great!
However, the Insta Love felt a little too unnatural for me, like they just meet and start spending time together and soon after he’s freaking because he’s in LOVE with her. Their declarations of love for each other just felt cringey and awkward to me, I didn’t really feel like we got to see enough of their connection, to be invested in their relationship.
It was still a cute and short Closed door Sports Romance, that I think others will enjoy!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for proving me with this ALC. Assistant to a pro golfer who says he’ll never get married… I’m sure she’ll change his mind, right? Not without a few obstacles along the way. This was a cute little closed door rom-com. Easy listen and great narrators.

Quick Summary: A feel good golf romance
My Review: The Perfect Putt by Annah Conwell is book #2 in the More Than a Game series.
About the Book: When an aspiring florist who hates all things golf related is approached about becoming a pro golfer's personal assistant, something rather remarkable happens.
About the Narration: Sybil Johnson and Dillon Sickels brought this story to life. Not only did they bring the humor and the sarcasm, but they also brought the emotion and intensity.
My Final Say: I think the aspect that most struck me about this story related to the various views and circumstances regarding family. This story showed how toxic, manipulative tactics could poison a relationship, but it also showed how nurturing and supportive relationships could build up those in need.
Other: Readers who enjoy sports romances, stories where the protagonists grow and find their voices, and/or stories where the value of heart currency outweighs all else will truly enjoy this novel.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Dreamscape Media), and NetGalley. Thank you providing access to this title in exchange for an honest review. The words I have voluntarily shared are my own.

Also contains an audiobook review.
This is the second book in the More Than a Game series by the sweet/clean RomCom author, Annah Conwell. This is a series of standalone stories that are connected by friends that play different sports. As the title implies, golf is the featured sport here.
I used to watch golf and enjoyed it, although I have never played. (other than going to a driving range once in high school) You absolutely don't need to like, or even know much about golf, to enjoy this book though. The golf references are well described and done in a way that doesn't make the reader feel ignorant if they didn't know the terms or frustrated if they did.
I really enjoyed this story that features a male golfer and his female assistant overcoming some obstacles and exchanging banter along the way.
I listened to the audiobook and felt that it was very well done. I think the narrators were new to me and both did an outstanding job. If I had heard them before, they didn't connect my mind to a different book and set of characters there. That is always a plus to me.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media, Netgalley and Annah Conwell for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. I am happy to leave an honest review.
