Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift is a perfect read for those readers who are into a contemporary romance with a celebrity twist. The story dives into themes of fame, personal growth and the blurred lines of fiction and reality. Imagine you write a book about your celebrity crush and then you meet them in real life and have instant chemistry? That is essentially the premise of the book. This book follows two single parents- Emmy a single mother and author and celebrity Jason Connor who are both trying to find love again. The plot honestly did not grab me as much as I was hoping it would and I didn't feel a connection to the characters, partly because of the miscommunication between the two. For anyone who loves a celebrity romance, I would recommend this book. Overall it was a fun quick read!

*Celebrity Crush* is an absolute delight from beginning to end! The story is packed with witty banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and a series of hilarious coincidences that make it pure, feel-good entertainment. From the very first page, I found myself completely hooked, smiling and laughing my way through the entire book. The humor is spot-on, with sharp dialogue and playful exchanges that kept the energy high and the mood light. It’s one of those rare reads that not only makes you laugh but leaves you feeling genuinely happy by the end.

REVIEW✨
Celebrity Crush
By Christy Swift

This one fell a little flat, I loved the idea behind it but I didn’t find it well executed. I didn’t enjoy either of the main characters, nor was it realistic. I loved that both the main characters were single parents, and trying to find love again. But kinda everything else of the plot didn’t work for me, I didn’t feel any connection to the characters and felt like if the main characters did a little more communicating there would’ve be any issues.

Plot points: 💥💥💥
Spice Level:🔥
Romance level: ❤️❤️
Stars: ⭐️⭐️

What would happen if you wrote a book with your celebrity crush in mind, and then you meet and have instant sparks?

That’s the premise of this book! It’s a fun celebrity/regular person romance. The banter was fun between the two main characters but I did wish they were a bit more likable- i kept thinking throughout the book they would benefit from therapy. 😆

But regardless, it was a fun read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever books for this E-Arc.

From start to finish I didn't want to put this down!
I loved Jason, from the moment we met him you could feel what a good guy he is. He's made some bad decisions but he's doing everything he can to be a better man and it shows. Emmy is smart and funny and I loved her videos. And even though it was self-serving I loved how she helped Jason with his image.
I loved them together, and their interactions were so cute and you could see the feelings growing between them on the page. I might have wanted to kick my feet in excitement a few times. lol.
I loved the tension of waiting for that other shoe to drop with something that we learn about during the book, and when it does along with some other stuff it sure is a doozy. But I really enjoyed how they were able to come out of the other side. Celebrity Crush had me constantly smiling and sometimes laughing-out-loud, and I just had an all-around great time.
I loved this book, and hope we get more of this world!!

This was a fun premise when an author bases a character in her novel on her celebrity crush! While I liked the initial premise, I had a hard time getting into the story. I struggled to truly root for either of the main characters, but still enjoyed the overall story!

Cute story about an author who writes a story based on her celebrity crush. Her book becomes optioned for a movie and he stars in it! The pair do a whole PR tour. Cute read, I love that it was 2 single parents. Single parent trope is one of my favorites!

Clean romance fans - this is for you! It’s a fun celebrity romance filled with pop culture/Marvel/movie references along the way. While some of the TikTok stuff wasn’t my cup of tea, I enjoyed seeing the author’s interests coming to life through her characters. I thought the premise about celebrity crushes was a fun twist on the trope, but I ultimately found Emmy and Jason to be kind of unlikable main characters. Emmy came off a little entitled to fame, and Jason’s on again/off again girlfriend added too much complexity and made him wishy washy. For anyone who loves celebrity romance, I still say give this a go. I always want to support debut authors, even if this wasn’t perfect for me.

This is a really cute book with a really cute premise. It has everything I like: celebrity gossip, fake dating and fantastic cast of secondary characters. This is a light and frothy book perfect for a vacation or on one of those days when you just need to be entertained.

I really enjoyed the insider peek into celebrity world and the glitz and the glamour contrasted with Emmy’s regular life down in Florida in a trailer home. Emmy is a sweet and funny woman determined to make a life for her and her daughter. Jason is her long-time crush who’s on a path for redemption after a tough few years. They have instant chemistry when they meet on a talk show, and Emmy reveals her crush.

This is a debut book, and I enjoyed it. The characters all felt like they acted more like teens than mature adults with families and careers, but I still liked the premise and the plotting. I look forward to reading more of Christy’s books.

I just finished *Celebrity Crush* by Christy Swift, and as someone who loves all things Hollywood, I found this story absolutely adorable. The book follows Emmy Ellison, an author who writes a rom-com about her celebrity crush, Jason Connor. Emmy has had her fair share of Hollywood drama in the past, which left her burned, but she’s unexpectedly thrust back into the spotlight and under intense scrutiny. Soon, she meets her celebrity crush, and her life changes forever.

I really appreciated the deeper moments in this book, and found myself asking, "What would I do in this situation?" I found myself rooting for Jason, wanting the world to see what a good guy he truly is, while also feeling protective of Emmy. The story was a perfect blend of romance and self-reflection, and I couldn’t help but get invested in their journey.

IM OBSESSED. one of my favorite tropes of all time is celebrity romance so this book had me SAT immediately.

main character, emmy, was a romance author who’s newest book was based off of her real-world celebrity crush. this crush was one of four (super attractive) men from a hit tv show and everyone wanted to know which guy it was. emmy’s book was going to be turned into a movie so she was invited onto a talk show where she would reveal which hottie the book (and soon to be movie!) was about. the catch? all FOUR of the men were at the talk show ready to meet her, up close and personal.

this was such a witty, fun, entertaining time. i absolutely loved our main characters and the plot of the story. admist hollywood drama and chaos, emmy was going to not only get to spend more time with the man of her *literal* dreams but also get closer to her dream of getting back to hollywood after 13 years. emmy needed her book sales to skyrocket to #1 while her crush needed to stay out of the spotlight — how were they both going to succeed without ruffling any feathers along the way? would they be able to do it?

Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift was a really cute, fun, and quick read. I’m typically not a huge fan of closed door romance and usually prefer more spice however, the witty banter and palpable tension were quite entertaining. And, let’s not forget the plot. She was thick!

Celebrity Crush introduces us to brand new author, Emmy who wrote a book inspired by her real life celebrity crush, Jason Connor. They are then taken on a whirlwind of forced proximity moments and stolen glances fuelled by Jason being cast in the big screen adaptation of Emmy’s book.

But let’s not forget what they say about meeting your heroes… Hollywood can be a cruel and unforgiving place.

Thank you to Net Galley and Christy Swift for this ARC. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in a sweet, dual POV, closed door type of romance with a great plot and relatable characters.

Trigger warnings: Infidelity, hidden paternity, death of a parent.

Celebrity Crush was a fun read - honestly, it was a nice little escape that had me wishing I was reading it by the pool. Emmy has written her celebrity crush into her novel that's taken off and when she meets him in real life, sparks fly and antics ensue. I loved that both Jason and Emmy have a little growing to do to trust each other and fall, but the chemistry between them is there from the start. There were a couple of things that didn't work as well for me: I felt like a lot of complications were introduced which made it hard to feel like the wrap up pacing was satisfying and I felt like the book didn't pay off it's two biggest complications to their maximum potential (Rhett + Margarita). All in all, I still enjoyed seeing Jason + Emmy and their little families fall in love and find a HEA!

When her celebrity crush is brought into to play the love interest in the screen adaption of her romance debut, it's almost like a dream come true!

Emmy, trying to navigate her way to the best seller list takes this opportunity, falling immediately head first into lust with her celebrity crush, Jason. It's apparent from the get go that those feelings are very much not one sided and as the two try to navigate her rise to possible fame and his need to clean up is image, it's only a matter of time before things heat up even more (both between their chemistry and drama from outside influences) and we have to wonder if they'll get their HEA after all.

This was a quick read with a fun premise. I love a fake dating trope, but truly there was no fake dating, heck there was no dating? I'm still trying to figure out was this a 3 star fun read or a 2 star it fell a little flat for me read. The story was a bit chaotic, the timing of when different events occurred was a bit hard to follow, the drama surrounding both Emmy and Jason in their single parent statuses, was beyond a bit much, especially at the end. The pop culture references were for a very specific audience (i didn't get any of them), the celebrity gossip interludes took away from the story, and ultimately multiple plot points felt unresolved by the end and there were a couple that I desperately want closure on. The ending was rushed and I truly wanted more to Emmy and Jason's HEA.

Thank you Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC in exchange for my review!

*I want to start by thanking the author and publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. Very Hallmark, but I liked it.

Fantastic book!! There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t know if Emmy and Jason would get their HEA and I was so happy when they did. I loved all of the side characters and the pop culture references that were mixed in throughout the story. The witty banter between everyone, especially the two main characters, was great and it was easy to see what a connection they had right from the start. Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved them together!

This book is between 3 and 3.5 for me. There were parts of it that I loved, I liked Emma and her daughter, I loved her as an author and it was so much fun watching her get to experience the fun of meeting famous people. I also liked Emma's bestie. Jason was equal parts lovely and frustrating. I loved how engaging he was with his fans and kiddos. But he continued to make really nonsensical decisions. And then Emma's plot to use Jason...I hated that she went along with it.

Overall a fun book.

Thanks to Forever, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for early copies of Celebrity Crush in exchange for my honest opinions. The book is now available everywhere! I listened to Celebrity Crush over the course of one evening, while cooking and cleaning and packing. Once I started it, I was sucked into the story by the great narration, and it was the perfect romance to binge while getting things done. I mostly listen to audiobooks while doing chores or while walking/commuting - for me it’s the best distraction from anything required which might feel monotonous.
In Celebrity Crush, Emmy is a single parent and a debut author who has written a romance about her celebrity crush. The book she’s written takes off, and there is a ton of speculation about the identity of her crush. When it is optioned as a movie, it becomes an even bigger deal when the producers plan to cast her crush! Emmy gets to meet the crush that inspired the book, and the tension is huge. There is plenty more that happens, but I don’t want to give away too much because it happens in such a fun way.
Celebrity Crush is Christy Swift's debut novel, too. If you like reading books about books and movies, reading romance with older main characters, or if you’ve ever imagined meeting your celebrity crush, I think you’ll like this one. I really enjoyed the narration by Stephanie Willing and Andrew Eiden - I think that’s a big reason why I didn’t stop until I had listened all the way to the end!

Emmy, a debut author, has written a book about her celebrity crushes. Her book is optioned for a movie, and her "dream" crush lands the leading role. On set sparks fly, as she relives all her moments crushing on Jason.

This was a good, cute romance with some funny moments.

DNF REVIEW • The summary appealed to me — I love a celebrity romance and the fake dating trope — but the execution left a lot to be desired. Although there’s always inherently a “lie” in a fake dating storyline, the plot in this one just made me incredibly uncomfortable. I wasn’t clicking with the writing style pretty early on and found myself cringing at the characters (the way they acted and spoke). I can handle complicated, flawed people but these felt immature and juvenile in a way where I could no longer continue reading.
