Building on some of the characters introduced in “Lady Charlotte Always Gets Her Man”, this book’s couple is Charlotte’s twin brother Alexander, heir to the Duke of Falcondale and Georgiana Harrington, step sister to the Earl of Craie. Georgie is an independent young woman with a passionate interest in antiquities as was her father. In fact, she has discovered what might be a burial site for an ancient warrior king with artifacts to prove it. As a woman, her intellectual discoveries could not be presented under her name, so she enlists her cousin Percy to pretend that he’s the archaeologist-antiquarian. He’s kind of a wastrel, so it’s a struggle to keep her secrets. When Georgie digs up a warrior mask so adorned that it must have belonged to a king, she must give it to Percy to present to the Antiquarian Society as his discovery. While in London to make the presentation, Percy has a grand time proclaiming to everyone that the mask belonged to King Arthur and he and the mask mysteriously disappear before he can make the presentation. Alexander, who was born with a club foot is an embarrassment to his parents and has been bullied, belittle and underestimated his entire life. As outsiders, Georgie and Alexander seem to understand each other and join together to find Percy and the mask. As they encounter dangerous people and situations, sparks fly……

This book mixes likeable characters and an intriguing plot for a fun read. The darker and more dramatic aspects of the plot are balanced out with a lot of silliness and humor (not all of which was my cup of tea, but it was still fun!). It wasn’t a five-star read for me because there are some distracting anachronisms - not the least of which how much time an unmarried gentleman and lady spend together alone and making out. The ending also felt rather rushed and over-the-top, but it was still satisfying. I enjoyed this book and I believe other fans of historical romantic mystery (with a dash of humor) will enjoy it as well. I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

While not a bad book I must admit I struggled to stay involved with this one at times. Not sure why, as much of the plot of stolen artifacts and such is usually a good read. Still though, would recommend as it kept my interest to see how it ends.

Charming! Georgina is a spinster who spends her time digging for historical artifacts on her property. Her cousin, Percy, helps her bring her discoveries to light and when he goes missing, Georgina suspects others are after the treasures she has discovered. Enter Alexander, Percy's friend. Alexander agrees to help Georgina find Percy but he can't help but fall in love with Georgina in the process.

This was sweet - Georgina and Alexander are a lovely match. I think this works well as a standalone as I did not read the first novel in this series and there is enough context provided to catch up quickly. I did feel like there were too many characters but overall, this is an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next installment.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

Our Dear Miss H. Is on the Case is an irresistible blend of mystery, romance, and wit, with all the excitement of a great adventure and the chemistry of a perfect opposites-attract couple. The tension between Georgina and Alexander builds beautifully, with every moment crackling with emotion, wit, and that undeniable pull. The plot, full of scandal and suspense, keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the romance makes your heart race. It’s a delightful, swoony ride from start to finish!

I had enjoyed the first book in this series and was engaged with what was happening in this story. It worked with the first book and had that humor that I enjoyed overall. The characters continued to feel like they were supposed to and was glad everything worked. Violet Marsh always does a great job in this type of book and am excited for more.
