A comic book that, if I'm honest, I almost preferred when it was doing the old "babies are weird" shtick. Here that sentiment comes from a dog who has an imaginary life as a dinosaur, hence the cover art, but for later chapters he becomes Indiana Jones, or even Boba Fett, and the pages aren't self-contained one-shots showing the mutt's jealousy and annoyance at the humans' new priority, but longer-form dramas. Don't get me wrong, I didn't really adore either way round – but the fact the one-shots seemed superior to the bitty, more imaginative, genre-mashing fantasias of the dog Sophie kind of shows they must have had a pretty decent bit of quality about them. They just weren't really for me, due to subject.
This is the second time I read this book, adorable. Great for young readers or stories to read to your younger kids. Super cute story about a dog who gets a human baby brother, and the story is from the dog's point of view. The two go on great adventures together and show a love-hate relationship between the puppy and the human baby.
This was adorable! My daughter and I loved it. We read a chapter every night, and at just two years old, she felt like she was discovering a new story each time. It’s a bit long for younger kids, but we still had a fun and enjoyable experience with how we approached it!
The book was fun and humorous. I think the art style and story will appeal to many young readers who also enjoy watching cartoons.
This is a wonderfully funny and enjoyable graphic novel, concerning the ever cute dog and the new one in the household, a baby. The adventures, as the title states, Jurassic Bark, is full of movie satires and references and the book is very, very funny and clever and enjoyable. I most enjoyed the Western movie theme chapter, but they are all good, and even this 72 year old caught himself laughing out loud! Great read.
What a fun adventurous read! Both of my kids loved reading specifically about Sophie and her corundum with a new family member. Sophie: Jurassic Bark is great for elementary aged children for sure!
This is an adorable graphic novel about Sophie, a young chocolate lab, and Doug, her new human brother. Sophie worries that Doug is here to replace her and through many antics develop an agreement and a bond. Then, two cats show up, and it's only going to become more chaotic in the next book. A very funny and colorful book and I'm excited for them to come out. Great book for elementary kids.
