It was cute. But man, Quinn is one of my go to for fun witty laugh out loud banter and this just didn't hit as well as some of hers.

It was a fun season read though, but won't hit my top 5 from her. Sorry, Meghan, but when you write so well your standard is a bit tougher!

This is perfect book to read during the fall just as the stores are being filled with Christmas stuff. Storee is not just sunshine, she is chaos!! Cole is grumpy neighbor. Storee moves to Kringletown to help her great aunt Cindy recuperate. She enters town’s competition to win ‘Who’s merriest of all’….Cole decides he cannot let her win and enters the competition.

This book just didn’t do it for me the way I would expect a Meghan Quinn book to deliver.

The beginning was a little slow, which makes some sense because there’s a surprising amount of ground to cover during the exposition. It was a lot of fun to pick out all the elements that were nods to the Grinch, but then I just got a bit tired of the story and was ready for Storee and Cole to reconcile. One nice touch is that the intro to every chapter is a few rhyming versus which were super comical to read! In those intros there was a bit of “breaking the fourth wall” where the curtain gets pulled back from the narrator—I liked these touches as they added to the storytelling. Additionally, there was some top tier banter between the main love interest. I appreciated the dual POV.

There was also a ton of tropes and plot devices jam packed into this story:

-holiday romance
-grinch retelling
-childhood friends to enemies to lovers
-second chance
-small town romance
-slow burn
-Christmas competition
-fake dating
-forced proximity

Overall it was a very solid Christmas romance, I just wish the pacing was a little faster. 3.25/5 ⭐️

Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Hilarious and refreshing, I could have spent all day reading this witty book. Quinn is absolutely the funniest author, and it seems like her work just keeps getting better.

I was so grateful to get this book early. What a nice surprise and a gift. I loved all the nods to the grinch story and then the ACTUAL grinch situations. This book was a thick girlie. Storee actually really irritated me but I loved Cole. Also I was cackling at the name Cole black. So much Christmas stuff. Cindy Louise.

This was clearly based in Colorado and there's a little town close to where I think this one is set up that is Christmas year round. Having moved
From Colorado it was nice to head back there. There's some pretty heavy stuff in this book but it was handled with grace. And we all need a friend like max. I also think the narrators was a fun sparring partner with Cole. I laughed out loud quite a few times.

It's hard for me to love a Christmas themed book this much, but this book was so cute, funny, and spicy I had to give it 5 stars!
I ended up listening to the audiobook for this one and let me tell you it was amazing! I loved the narrators tidbits and the voices of all the cast. I highly recommend the audio version, but either way this is a Christmas season must read!
First of all: the names of the characters were top tier Christmas names. I loved all of them! The Christmas competition was so fun to listen to for me. The ongoing banter with Storee and Cole was fantastic- and then when that slow burn finallilly hits! It was perfection.
This book was filled with Christmas magic- heartfelt at moments, laugh out loud funny at others, and other make you blush! Such a great read!

Cute Christmas read with the whole small town vibe. The characters are easy to fall in love with and everyone got something else going for them. The competition is fun to read about especially as all the ideas are quits creative. While I did enjoy reading this, it felt a bit too long. Some parts could definitely have been shorter.

4.5 stars rounded to 5
3.75 peppers (almost 4 just bc of the candy cane)

Okay, first let me tell you: I had to put this book down for a week or so and come back to it because I was having some trouble getting into the Christmas spirit when we hadn't even made it to Halloween yet and... *looks around* This is scary to say because people always look at me like I'm the biggest Scrooge when I say this but... I don't like the Grinch. It's like... my least favorite Christmas movie. I KNOW I KNOW OKAY!?!? I was just struggling. But more than anything, Aunt Cindy reminded me so much of my grandmama that passed away in April, and that made it too difficult to read. It made me want to cry so I had to take a second for myself.

BUT... I got the ALC in October and started to listen to it and that helped me as far as my Christmas mood. It made me see it as more of a MOVIE, and I was able to get into the spirit. Then I went back and forth between listening and reading as I often do with audiobooks.

ANYWAYYYY Cole Black STOLE MY HEART and I LOVED him and Storee together once the ice started melting between them. The only reason this wasn't a full 5 star was because for me, it took too long for them to start giving in (even if only a little). It became a little exhausting, but that is just a personal preference. There are many people who prefer their enemies/rivals-to-lovers stories to be more of a slow burn. I'm just impatient I think, maybe? LOL.

The spice was EPIC in this, and I LOVED the use of the candy cane... and Cole's mouth!?!? DAMN.

I also appreciated the emotion in this one—it was unexpectedly touching, and I even teared up a couple times! I LOLed at several points as well, especially during the little poems at the start of the chapters. I loved how they became more and more unhinged as the book went on.

OH and do yourself a favor and get the Walmart edition so you can see the art! It's so fun!

All in all, this was a fun holiday read that I recommend to anyone who loves funny/emotional Christmas movies, spicy books, and enemies-to-lovers romances. Thank you to Meghan and Hambright PR for the ARC!

I had to DNF this book. The writing was just so cringe. I normally LOVE Meghan Quinn and I was really disappointed. I've tried to read it 3x.

Cole and Storee met again during Christmas. Their competing against each other for a Christmas contest.
The subject of the book was good and the Christmas atmosphere is there.
But for the story and the relationships between the characters, I was disappointed it went against Christmas values for me. I did not like the sister's behavior with Storee. And also, I would have like more Cole and Stores Background.

Meghan Quinn delivers again with a sweet and funny holiday love story.
A literal grinch named Cole lives next door to Storee Taylor’s aunt Cindy, who’s asked her nieces for help as she recovers from an illness. She lives in Peppermint Cove, a town that celebrates Christmas year round.

Every year there’s a Christmas contest that most of the town participates in.
Cole has had a crush on Storee for years, but now he just wants to beat her in the contest. The idea of the contest is creative and funny, and I’m sure you’ll fall for Storee and Cole.4.5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

How My Neighbor Stole Christmas was a fun, easy read. It's great if you're looking for a holiday romance with the grumpy x sunshine trope!

Don't want to get much into what I didn't enjoy, I just wanted to say that mainly it was because of some jokes that didn't hit, the excessive use of the word "nipple", and some of the actions through the novel made by both main characters. What I did like was Aunt Cindy, the rivalry, the fake dating, and the fun competition plot.

Overall it was an okay novel for me. I feel like I took so long reading it because of the things mentioned but also because it's long and I wasn't enjoying it lots as you can read lol so it felt REALLY REALLY long. Still, it's not awful and it's not the worst thing ever, so I'd still recommend it! I've only read two Meghan Quinn books which I loved when I read them so I'm a little bit let down with this one, I thought it was going to be on that same level sadly.

- Small town that LOVES Christmas
- Grumpy MMC
- Childhood Crush
- Holiday Romance
- Christmas Competition Rivals
- “inappropriate” use of a candy cane

I absolutely ate this up. I started off reading the ebook, but then switched to the audio and honestly I think that’s the way to go. The audio has duet narration by Vanessa Edwin and J.F. Harding, along with a full cast including Shane East, Robert Hatchet, and Emma Wilder. It was so good and so funny. The storyline was great (I loved all the Grinch references) and I am obsessed with the characters. I definitely recommend adding this one to your holiday TBRs.

I couldn't imagine starting my holiday reading more appropriately than by diving into Meghan Quinn's most recent work. One of my all-time favorite tropes is enemies to lovers, and Meghan Quinn is among the greatest writers of banter. This story was cute entertaining, and really well written. I loved every character in the village and their familial bonds. They truly added something unique to this book.

I absolutely loved this book! In true Meghan Quinn fashion, it was hilarious, spicy and heartwarming. I loved the play on how the grinch stole Christmas. I laughed out loud on more than one occasion and we can’t forget the candy cane scene.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. An excellent laugh-out-loud title for the holidays, even if you aren't feeling them.

I love a good Christmas rom-com especially with some enemies to lovers thrown in! There were so many laugh out loud funny moments in this one that I felt like I could've been really watching The Grinch or any of my favorite Christmas movies. I expected enemies to lovers, ridiculous Christmas competitions, spice, and a Hallmark-esque type Christmas town but what I wasn't expecting was the themes of grief around the holidays and working through strained family relationships (oh and that thing with the candy cane 🫢). I still stand by my opinion that rom coms shouldn't be over 400 pages so this one too me a while to get through and felt a little repetitive after a while but overall still an enjoyable holiday read. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC copy of How My Neighbor Stole Christmas!

A huge helping of the Grinch...

This book is a huge heaping ode to How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
Cole is the grinchy-grinch in this case and Storee is his nemesis/love interest.
Storee is the sunshine to Cole's grumpy. But now they are both working towards a common holiday goal.
Recommend.

A romcom inspired by the Grinch? Yes please I am so in! I had so much fun reading this story! If you want something to bring some joy to your holiday season How My Neighbor Stole Christmas is an excellent pick.

I loved reading about Kringletown and all its Christmas traditions! It is a town that really commits to its Christmas theme including a competition to see who can be the most Christmasy citizen of Kringletown. That alone was fun to read about but seeing Storee and Cole compete while also sort of fake dating but not really and also sort of being enemies but maybe falling for each other was really fun.

If you like a lighthearted romcom, Christmas hijinks, meddling relatives, a small-town romance, or want to never look at a candy cane the same way this should be on your holiday TBR. I really want to move to this town for the holidays now!
