This was a nice base to a story that could be really fun, I just think it could have been a little more fleshed out. The adventure they had isn't particularly 'grand'. There was no befriending of each other, they just appeared and went out for a quick flight out and back home again.
The illustrations were charming, they were my 4 and 7 year old's favourite part of it.
What a cute and fun dragon adventure for young ones to read! Dragons are always fun to read about and I loved the characters created in this series. Although an adult, I enjoyed this book and plan to read it to my nieces.
Thank you to the author and publisher for this arc!
This is a fun picture book that children will love to read. My library will definitely be buying this book. I can't wait to see children love it as much as I did!
Too short! This definitely needed more pages to flesh out and conclude the story. I love steampunk, dragons, and owls, but this story needed more work. Also, the dragon changed sizes several times without any notice.
I read this one evening with my four year old who loves dragons. She wanted her very own Cogs and asked how we could get one.
Cogs and Trinket's Grand Adventure is a beautifully illustrated book. The steampunk style is really cool and not something I have seen in many children's books. Cogs and Trinket are both adorable. Cogs being brave enough to leave on his own for the first time was a nice message about doing things even when you're scared.
The title is a bit misleading as the adventure Cogs and Trinket went on would not be my definition of a "grand" one. They went out, had a nice flight and came back. This book, in my opinion, is something which would be better aimed at much younger audiences as my daughter found it a bit boring.
Rated 2.5 stars, rounded up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tourmaline & Quartz Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
