A delightful and fun adaptation of A Study in Scarlet. The art style and the story complement each other well, making it easy to follow. The illustrations add to the original story, as you can clearly see and understand the expressiveness of the characters in respect to the scenes. Overall, a great adaptation of a classic!

I love manga adaptations of novels and this was my first Manga Classics title. I am looking forward to checking out other adaptations under the Manga Classics series! I think this is a great way to introduce these classics to a wider audience by allowing people to explore and engage with these stories in a way that they wouldn’t normally. Thank you NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for the ARC!

this was my first time reading sherlock holmes and it didn't disappoint . I actually liked it very much.
sherlock holmes is a very likable character – glad to meet this famous detective. I liked how he was enjoying himself.
mystery was very easy to guess but background lovestory was such a treat.

as for the art, it is very beautiful and vibrant! gives you manga vibes! ✨
but i wonder why Holmes and Watson look so feminine? 🥲

thanks to publishers for the copy!

Perhaps I've read too many yaoi and yuri manga but MAN they sure leaned into the Holmes/Watson romantic tension! The artwork is a little inconsistent. Holmes and Watson are drawn incredibly well, if at times, not matching the intensity of the dialogue. But literally every other character is nearly indistinguishable from.each other. Like the illustrator had two molds of dudes and used it with different costumes throughout. Still interesting medium for an old favorite.

This was an excellent adaptation to A Study in Scarlet! I’m happy that I was able to get a chance to read this early because NetGalley gave me an eARC to review which does not affect my review. I’m a big fan of Sherlock Holmes and manga/comics help me to focus on a book for longer than typical so this was perfect. The art was also super pretty and did well at conveying nonvocal information!

A fun adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's A Study in Scarlet. Choy’s adaptation is a fun read, with a quick pace and great visuals. The characters are distinct and intriguing, and the adaptation stands up against others of its kind.

I loved everything about this book. The characters, the art, the pacing all kept me hooked and I read the book in one sitting. What i always expect from a Sherlock adaptation is that his friendship with Watson is so close that you have to ask yourself if there's something romantic going on. That, for me, is a sign of an unbreakable friendship in stories and real life. I also liked that the Sherlock in this story wasn't portrayed as a weird, antisocial person because of his peculiar personality, but instead as a charismatic, social one. I think it fits more to his character, although I have not the original books yet, and is good representation that neurodivergent people aren't always society outcasts.
The only suggestion I have for this book is maybe considerate using a less vibrant color palette to accentuate the 19th century atmosphere.
