This was an interesting read. Lots of pieces from way back to present. They all eventually come together as the story unfolds. I felt it was strong to start, had a lull in the middle, then ended decent.
This book was pretty familiar which made it predictable but I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Thank you for the copy!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This thriller was full of twists and turns. It took me a while to piece together how the two story lines were connected and that really added to my reading experience. This was a very interesting thriller and I could not get enough of it.
This book involves a dead body, a missing child, and a mysterious hotel maid at a manor hotel in Ireland. Are they all connected?
I love a good mystery as much as the next person, but this book was beyond frustrating for me to listen to. Maybe the physical book would have been better so I could flip back and forth. But the characters kind of all run together (you'll see why as you read/listen on) and the dual narrative created more needless confusion than intrigue or clarity. Nothing wrong at all with the narrator, who did an excellent job. I just feel the story could have been better executed.

✨ Fast Paced
✨ Trigger Warnings
✨ Ireland
✨ Some of the chapter may trigger others.
Self harm. Physical abuse. Mental and Psychological child abuse.
✨ this is quite hard to read someone with a past, it was a fast paced though and you can really feel the love for Mia . The story is focusing to June, a maid who works in a hotel located in Ireland .
There is a huge twist at the end which is surprising and never see coming.
✨ Definitely worth to read but may be too much for some who can’t take some triggers .
✨Thankyou @dreamscape select for the opportunity to listen to this arc for a honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!!
I really enjoyed this book. More than I thought I would. I liked the characters! Great writing style and I liked the storyline. This book kept me guessing. I finished it in one sitting.
The Hotel Maid was a phycological mystery thriller. The narrator was easy to listen to and drew you into the story. There were some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming.
Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for my ARC.
Reading it was full of twists and tension, but listening to it was just on another level! Seriously, the audiobook is amazing.
I was so engrossed even after knowing what was going to happen because the audio was just that gripping. It pulled me in, and every scene felt even more thrilling and suspenseful through the audio.
Thank you Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing and Net Galley for this audiobook. Loved it so much!

Narrated by Jacqueline Milne
I was looking forward to listening to this book as I really liked the premise. Even though I listened to it all which was narrated by Jacqueline Milne. I just didn't bond with any of the characters at all and felt the plot was a little disjoined. I did enjoy the narrator which kept me from DNfing.
2.5 stars for Storygraph, 3 for Netgalley, Amazon and Goodreads
Excellent story. I wasn't expecting this to be such an unpredictable ride. Really exceeded my expectations!
I previously read this book and I loved it. The Audiobook was good and I enjoyed the narrator. This was a really good dark psychological thriller. I really liked that there were multiple POVs and the character development. There were some really good twists and overall a good book that I recommend.
This book is not subtle but it does a wonderful job of weaving together murder mystery, psychological thriller, and social history.
First off, I want to say the audiobook was narrated very well. I think it might have been a bit confusing to try and keep track of which character we are reading without the narration, especially in the beginning.
This is not "The Maid," so please don't skip this one thinking you've already heard this story. It definitely has it's own background and it's quite dark. There are some uncomfortable passages to read, but it really enhances the reader's understanding of June. I really don't want to give away too much information, but this really draws you in and is a story you won't soon forget. Definitely worth the read!
Many thanks to Dreamscape Select, Storm Publishing and of course NetGalley for this ARC.
This is a dark, intense tale of the power of being invisible to others and the danger of secrets. I enjoyed how the story was told from multiple POVs. I was immensely engaged as secrets were revealed throughout this character-driven emotional mystery. I loved how cleverly the pieces of the story came together with a chilling twisted conclusion. The narration masterfully brought the characters to life while adding a layer of intrigue. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for my audiobook.
This story was so off putting. I couldn’t handle listening to the Mia narrative. I get it, she’s an abused girl, but it was so wrong on so many levels.
2.5/5 rounded up to 3stars
This was not my favorite thriller, the narrator did a good job, so extra points for that. It is honestly probably my fault, I didn't check trigger warnings before I read this and I maybe should have. I don't have any triggers, but I should have prepared myself going into such dark subject matter. It just wasn't what I was expecting I guess.
The Hotel Maid

Genre: Psychological Fiction
Publication Date: August 23, 2024
Narrator: Jacqueline Mine
Audio Length: 8 hours 40 minutes
Estimated Page Count: 266 (36 chapters)
June Calloway prides herself on her work. She is a maid at Cedarwood, a luxury hotel. She enjoys her job and knows a good maid stays in the background. She lives in a flat with an 80-year-old woman named Tess. She receives a frightening note, “I know what you did. Keep your mouth shut.” June discovers a dead body. A ten-year-old girl is missing. The girl is repeatedly told she is “retarded” (the author’s word not mine.)
This book is dark. Child abuse, child neglect, child bullying, cut/self-harm, pedophilia, and sexual assault are some of the topics that bothered me. My heart went out too little MIA. June was a likable character. This book has a large cast of characters and there were too many to keep up with. There are a lot of twists and turns.
This book just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Thank you NetGalley for the review copy of this book.
I was worried that this story was going to be similar to (Molly) "The Maid" which I didn't enjoy as much as the majority of readers but I was soon disabused of that worry. It's a story about June, a maid who works at the Cedarwood Manor Hotel located in Cork, Ireland. She's cool and detached and very unemotional, but has a quick mind.
June lives in rented accommodation with an 80-year-old woman named Tess. We can tell from the start that June has some psychological issues and is harboring secrets. Mia is a 10-year-old girl who is physically, mentally and emotionally abused by the woman she calls Mammy. Mammy (Erica Kelly) often uses the "r" word to describe Mia which is disturbing to hear but I think fits with Erica's meanness plus I don't think Erica would take the time to think of a politically correct way to say that Mia is mentally challenged which she really isn't anyway. The whole book is dark and twisty but definitely worth the read, or listen, in my opinion. There's a huge twist near the end that turned the whole story upside down. I suspected something of the sort was coming but it was chilling all the same.
I loved Jacqueline Milne's narration of the audiobook and thought she did a superb job of bringing out the emotions of the various characters.
TW: Self-harm; physical, mental and emotional child abuse.

This book starts off being about the maid at a hotel, but it soon ventures into dark spaces. The subject matter is difficult and dark. I enjoyed this book. I was interested and intrigued. I found myself very curious about what would happen at the end. A convoluted story that was full of secrets, lies, and twists! The characters and their secrets created such depth to this dark and twisted thriller. I will read more by this author in the future.
Jacqueline Milne knocked the narration out of the park! She single handedly provided a full cast narration all by herself. She had distinct voices for each character making it easy to keep up with what was occurring.

I did enjoy this book, however a lot of it is really depressing which kind of took away from the thrill of the mystery but those parts are still necessary to understand the depths of the book.
*I Listened To The Audiobook
Jacqueline Milne has a beautiful voice for narration. I could listen to her talk all day.
