I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook and whewww 😮💨😮💨 it did not disappoint. This is by far one of my favorite audiobooks of Kirsten. I read and listened it to. I got sucked it!! I was working and listening and before I knew it, it was time to go home. Love, love, love. If you love a suspense/mystery that will have you guessing around every twist and turn, this is for you. The narrators did amazing! The twists 🤌🏼 I loved having the flash back to Tates memories leading up to the day of the accident/ disappearance. I was on the edge of my seat from the first chapter.

This psychological thriller kept me hooked from the very beginning and I couldn’t put it down. While I think it could have benefited from a longer ending, I also believe that the story was perfectly concluded.

The Guilty One begins with a phone call that no one ever wants to receive: A call from the police department informing you that your husband was in a car accident and did not survive. When you go to identify the body, It’s not your husband. Questions start to swirl within you mind … Why did this person have your husband’s wallet? Why was he in your husband’s car? and the most terrifying question, how do they have the same exact tattoo!?!?! This is just the beginning, you get to go on a “journey” with Celine to figure out what is actually going on, and you are in for some surprises.
I am new to audiobooks, I felt this was a very well-read. There are four narrators and I liked the way they read their parts.

YESSS!!! All the stars because of all the twists! I am not telling you anything except I miss books like this that trip me up and keep me guessing. I love being wrong and the book taking another sharp turn. Haven't had such a satisfying read in a long time. Yes, I recommend this one!
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC! Y'all knocked it out of the park on this one!

3.5-4 stars
Yes, THE GUILTY ONE was filled with twists and turns. I believe this has one of the best heel turns since Nick Dunne in Gone Girl. All my sympathy for that character was gone in an instant. Celine and Tate’s story kept me on the edge of my seat and the time flew by. I couldn’t believe when it was over. But, much like THE HOLLOW, I felt the reveal was addressed quickly and was abrupt for all the build up. The audiobook was performed to perfection. Great cast.

This book and this author: Kristen Modglin is a must read/listen for me now! Of her books that I have listened to (I’ve only listened to her novels thus far), they are very quick and intense reads that are not super long! I can’t wait to listen to her backlog of novels and listen to/read her future ones!
The Guilty One begins with a phone call that every wife never wants to receive: A call from the local police department informing you that your husband was in a car accident and did not survive. Then when you go to identify the body: It’s not your husband! But then questions begin to comes up: Why did this person have your husband’s wallet, why was he in your husband’s car, and why do they have the same tattoo!?!?!
This is just the beginning of this fast-moving story. There was no way I would have figured out the way that this one went! You go on a journey with Celine to figure out just what is actually going on!
There are four narrators and they all did a great job with their narrations.
Many thanks to the publisher for granting me a copy to listen to and review!

Celine has just been notified that her husband has died in a car crash. She goes to identify the body and she realizes it is not her husband. Where is he?!? Celine soon discovers her husband may not be the person she thought. She begins to uncover many secrets and lies!
Y’all know I love this author! And this book is creepy, intense and wicked. The hunt for the truth will keep you on your toes! And don’t mess with Celine…she does not take no for an answer!
I love a tale that has me guessing and then it gets very twisty and this book nailed it!
The narrators, Mia Hutchinson-Shaw; Chad Ackerman; Evan Sibley; Melissa Kay Benson, are the best! I love a good tag team to go along with a great mystery!

This was such a great title. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going on with Tate. KMod never disappoints!
Another fast and intriguing suspense/thriller.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat the whole way through! I was hooked from the very beginning.
But i think there may need to be a warning about the scenes with the uni teacher and the bonfire scene.
But apart from the warning i cannot fault this book.
My jaw was literally on the floor with the ending.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Loved this book. On the edge of my seat. The characters were well developed and written. Twisty througout.

Fantastic audiobook, the narrators really made this tale of suspense come alive. And what a tale it is.
Built around dark secrets, KMod does it again with a dark and twisty tale that I never wanted to end. But what an ending!
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my copy of this audiobook

WOW. I love when a novel jumps from page one and does not quit. I did not see the twist coming and it was amazing! One scene was quite disturbing so I would warn people of TRIGGERS such as rape, violence towards women and murder that were presented in this book. Overall would recommend to anyone who love a good thriller mystery.

This book begins with Celine Thompson receiving a phone call from the police, telling her that her husband has died in an auto accident. But, as she is asked to identify photos of the body, she is convinced it's not her husband. This leads her to investigate what is going on. Where is her husband? The more she learns, the more confused she becomes. This story has a lot of twists and turns that will make it difficult for the reader/listener to figure out what is really happening! You'll want to keep going to learn the answer. I was surprised, and I am usually pretty good at predicting. This was a very good one!
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing an advance review copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own.

This was such a great story. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going on with Tate. KMod never disappoints! I have read so many of her books and have enjoyed them all. Plus the dual narration was a great addition. I really enjoyed the narrators’ voices, tones, and the way they brought life to the characters. Great read!

Another fast and intriguing suspense/thriller from an author I can always rely on! NO IDEA how she continues to churn out so many good books a year but keep ‘em coming queen! I devoured in less than 24 hours, as usual with Kiersten books. Normally I eyeball read her books, but I really enjoyed this on audio and the narrator was great.
Thank you to Kiersten, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the early audiobook!

I did not expect that ending! This was my second read by Kiersten Modglin and I’m quickly learning she is the queen of surprise twists.
After a slow start, the pacing really picked up and I needed to see how everything unfolded for Celine, Tate and this confusing crew. There are some dark elements (SA and abuse) so be sure to check content warnings before diving in. Some scenes were tough to hear and brought out strong feelings in me as a reader.
Narrators Mia Hutchinson-Shaw, Chad Ackerman, Evan Sibley and Melissa Kay Benson were perfect for the story and it was great to have a variety of voices representing the different POVs. The time jumps were easy to follow on audio and helped to provide backstory on how Tate’s group of friends came to be.
I recommend going into this one blind and would say it’s a must read for domestic thriller fans.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and Kiersten Modglin for an early listening copy. These are my honest thoughts.

The Guilty One by Kiersten Modglin. I love any Kiersten Modglin book. This one I really wasn't sure about but once I got about 50 percent in.. it TOOK OFF! I loved the narrator. Non stop twists. Never guessed the ending! Really enjoyed this one!

This one fell flat for me -- probably because I didn't think it's portrayal of characters with particular conditions (sorry to be vague, but trying to avoid spoilers) was within the realm of reason. That said, there was an interesting twist.

"I'm the one they target...the guilty one."
"The day we learned he was dead, my first feeling was that of relief."
The thing is these quotes are not from the characters I expected to hear them from; in fact nothing in the what did I just listen to twisty The Guilty One by, she got me again, psychological thriller queen, Kiersten Modglin, was what I thought it would be, and that's awesome.
Celine gets the call we all dread; it's the police. Her husband has been killed in a car accident. Of course she hopes it's all a mistake. But they show her his wallet, ID and keys. They belong to Tate her husband, father to her two young sons. But then they show her a picture from the morgue and, though there's a resemblance, it's not her husband.
What follows is a, I never saw the twists coming story, going back to Tate's college days. He was a jerk to everyone, a sexual predator in the making and I was so turned off by him. But I was confused because the Tate that Celine describes, the one his parents and sons adore, doesn't sound like this awful man. Can his love for Celine have made him a changed man? If so, where is he? Who was driving his car? Why does he have Tate's belongings?
With a full cast of outstanding voice performers, Mia Hutchinson Shaw, Evan Sibley, Melissa Kay Benson and Chad Ackerman, this WTF is going on thriller, is ready made for grab the popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the rollercoaster ride that this writer masterfully navigates for our entertainment. Find out who is really The Guilty One in Tate's disappearance!

This book is quite dark, so it feels weird to say I loved it. But I truly did. Kiersten Modlign hit this one out of the park.
The story is incredibly gripping and full of shocking twists. It's perfectly paced and impossible to put down. What more can you ask for in a thriller?
