Dark thriller with a well-crafted plot. It reminded me a bit of the true crime books written about the Lieth Von Stein murder (Cruel Doubt by Joe McGinniss and Blood Games by Jerry Bledsoe) several decades back. Trigger warning for those who have low tolerance for anything bad happening to animals: there is some of that here and it negatively impacted my opinion of the book. Otherwise, a very good read.
