I found this book very informative.

I've heard Robert Cochran's name many times in various witchcraft circles, but didn't really know how he fit in with the history of modern witchcraft.

This book explains all that, fitting the pieces together and telling how Cochran's approach differed from Gerald Gardner's Wicca, which became the dominating path in the mid to later twentieth century.

If you have any interest in the history of witchcraft, this book will fill in that time period very well. There are other books that cover older witchcraft history.

I have to admit I glazed over a bit while reading the etymology of names surrounding Tubal Cain, but I'm sure it's important in the bigger picture of Cochran's beliefs and contributions to modern witchcraft.

This doesn't give a lot of ritual scripts, though there is a rite or two quoted, but once you get the idea of Cochran's approach to witchcraft, it makes perfect sense.

An excellent historical reference book.

An in depth look at the path of "Traditional Witchcraft" which eschews much of the neo=Pagan expectations of harm none and occult ritual and focuses more on the traditions found in folklore and historical text.
Its important for readers of this book and others inspired by Robert Cochran's work to remember that much of this path is through the lens of patriarchy and even Christianity's view of witchcraft and magic, which is inevitable but still important if you wish to de-colonize your faith and working.
I'd recommend it for those that have already walked the path a bit or who are collectors of works on the subject but not for beginners.

A fascinating and well-researched book on the life and work of an enigmatic man and his legacy. Very readable and beginner-friendly when you're new to these topics.

The craft of Tubal Cain by Kenneth Johnson is a great book on the left hand path involving the tribe of Cain. This book goes over deities, rituals and dreams. I enjoyed how in-depth Kenneth Johnson goes into exploring the history and stories associated with this path. I like how this book is foot noted with further insights from his research. I recommend this book for any practitioner who follows Hecate, Lilith, Diana and Persephone. This book goes over the goddess history and how to work with them in this magical tradition.

It's not very common to find books about traditional witchcraft so I was really happy to start this one, and I loved it as it covers all the topics that are important to build a modern but still traditional path.

I read a lot of books on witchcraft and history, but this book really stands out. If you love historical perspectives on witchcraft, or you just plain love history with an interesting view, this book is definitely for you!

I wasn’t quite expecting this much insight into the topic, but the author really delves into the topic. Using the historical references and material that came before him, he expands upon it and delivers an extremely riveting deep dive view that you will find most interesting.
