Synopsis:
Raised by their divorced, lapsed-Amish father and English mother, siblings Jonny, Martin, Kelsey, and Beth can't wait to reinvent their lives. The four don't have much in common, but they long for the stable sense of family they felt when visiting their Old Order grandparents, Josiah and Sylvia Schrock, in peaceful Holmes County, Ohio. And the Schrocks couldn't be more surprised when the grandkids want to try living with them—and joining their faith . . .
When Jonny hears startling news about his health, he knows it's past time to change his life. Quitting college, he unexpectedly finds the fulfilling job of his dreams. And he's instantly smitten with cafe owner Treva Hershberger, whose baked goods are as warm and delicious as her lively personality. But no matter how hard Jonny tries, he can't seem to get past her secret sadness and distrust. Can he prove that his feelings for her are for real—and forever—in time?
A bad breakup left Treva heartbroken—and resolved to be independent without relying on anyone ever again. Exhausted from pouring everything she's got into her cafe, she’s stunned by Jonny’s easygoing ways—and drawn to his optimistic nature. But when she thinks his real interest is in becoming Amish, she's even more determined to stay focused—and keep her heart safe . . .
Soon, deep secrets and hidden family truths will test Jonny and Treva in unexpected ways. And with help from his warm-hearted grandparents, he and Treva might gain the happiness they secretly long for—with each other.
Thoughts: This was a pretty good book. Mostly the writing was very well done, but at times it seemed off...I liked the story line, and the characters. The romance was mostly behind the scenes, so we don't see much of them becoming closer. This was a slower book, not as fast paced as the onse that have battles, but it was a nice change.
Favorite character, part, quote.
Character: Johnny I guess, or maybe Matt.
Part: ...I honestly don't know.
Quote: But I am saying that forgiving our parents for being imperfect might make you feel better— and might make having a good relationship in the future with them a lot easier.”
-- chapter 14
Jonny Shrock is not sure that he wants to be Amish, but he is sure that he enjoys coffee, so every day he goes to Treva Hershberger’s coffee shop before he goes to the bicycle shop where he works. The attraction between the two is predictable, but so much fun to read. I was completely absorbed in the drama surrounding them, especially Treva’s former relationship that left her feeling unlovable and Jonny’s health issues that made him wonder how long a future he would have. I fell in love with the characters and the setting, but the plot kept me reading to find out how they would work out all of their problems together. My favorite character was a secondary one, Matt Schrock, Jonny’s dad, who is a man seeking his own second chance at love as well as reconciliation with his children and parents. I admired his determination and humility as well as his deep love for family. This story is heartwarming and a lovely romance that is a fast and enjoyable read.

I was lucky to read both books of this series. I knew when I read the first book, that I wanted to keep reading this series. And glad that I did. It was a light read and a story of 4 siblings that had experienced a divorce of their parents prompting them to move to the grandparent's home and considered joining the Amish faith, which was the original faith of their father who "jumped the fence". This was "Jonny's story in which he meets Amish Treva after hearing of news of his health that need addressing by changing his personal lifestyle. Forgiving others was a strong thread that carried through the story
The story was sweet and I enjoyed it. It was a good read and I look forward to C is for Courtship!
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
B is for Bonnett is part of the Amish ABC series. It follows four siblings who decide to live with their Amish Grandparents. They feel that was when they were the happiest with the simpler times. They used to be dropped off in the summer during their parent’s divorce. This is Jonny’s story. An enjoyable read. I can’t wait for the next one.
B is for Bonnet is the second of the Amish ABC's series and the story continues with four adult siblings brought up English wanting to try living Amish with their Amish grandparents. In this book, Jonny, the youngest is living with his grandparents and working in a bike shop. All of the siblings have feelings of unhappiness from their childhood with their parents' divorce. As the story goes along, we see more reconciliation and healing with the simple life away from modern conveniences. Even their father decides to visit his parents. This is a nice series with wonderful characters experiencing forgiveness, faith and romance.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my thoughts..
B is for Bonnets is a sweet and enjoyable read that kept a smile on my face until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed Jonny and Treva's story, but I also enjoyed the secondary romance with Jonny's dad Matt and Kennedy. If you are looking for a light and sweet read, then this book will be for you.
*I was given a copy of this book by the publisher, and this is my honest opinion.
B is for Bonnet by Shelley Shepard Gray is a story about Jonny Schrock who is straddling two worlds. Jonny is trying to decide whether or not to become Amish when he has a health scare. B is for Bonnet is an easy story to read. The point-of-view switches between various characters including Jonny and Treva Kramer, a woman who, with the help of her family, turned the barn into a coffee shop (Trailside Café) with delectable baked goods. We also get to spend time with Matt Schrock, Johnny’s father and Kennedy, his new love interest. I like that we get to catch up with Johnny’s siblings and his grandparents (Jonny’s grandparents are sweet, kind, and patient). It was interesting learning about e-bikes and that the Amish have taken to using them as a mode of transportation. I had no idea that a well-known motorcycle company now produces electric bicycles. The romance between Treva and Jonny progresses slowly until the end when it was rushed. I am glad that we got to meet Jonny’s mother, and I hope we get to know her better in the next installment in the series. Forgiveness is one of the messages in the story. Sometimes the one that needs forgiveness the most is yourself. While B is for Bonnet is the second book in the Amish ABCs series, it can be read as a standalone. I am looking forward to reading C is for Courting when it comes out. B is for Bonnet is a sweet story with delectable coffee, a cholesterol scare, a hurt heart, parent problems, bossy siblings, great grandparents, and a benevolent bishop.
B is for Bonnet is the second book in Shelly Shepherd Gray’s Amish ABCs series.
This series is involved in the lives of four siblings who think they want to change their English life for the Amish life of their grandparents.
Jonny and Treva Have a very unique friendship. He is English, unsure of his desire to become Amish, and Treva who is Amish, and has her own coffee shop/bakery. Both bring baggage into the relationship that is hard to overcome.
Ms. Gray offers a mixed variety of characters that make the storyline believable as it moves along.
As the plot thickens, the story moves along at a nice pace.
I highly recommend reading the series in order so you are familiar with each character’s contribution to the series.
I received advance copy of the book through the publisher, Kensington, but I was not ask to give a positive review.

B is for Bonnet by Shelley Shepherd Gray is a delightful Amish romance. It had a slightly more modern feel as it discussed people both in and out of the Amish faith. This book covered family relationships and healing, as well as dealing with a health crisis. I give this book 4 stars for reading enjoyment. I received a complimentary review copy of this book.
Raised by their divorced, lapsed-Amish father and English mother, siblings Jonny, Martin, Kelsey, and Beth can't wait to reinvent their lives. Not wanting to overwhelm their Amish Grandparents, they take turns living with them in order to figure out their futures. Will they stay English or will they convert to the Amish community?
After finding out finds out some hard news for his health, Jonny quits college and finds his dream job. He also feels drawn to Treva, Owning her own coffee shop/cafe has been her dream for awhile. Guarding her heart after a devastating breakup, Treva is unsure how to receive Jonny's attention. Is he just interested in becoming Amish or is he interested in her?
I love how the characters are at a crossroad and each much face their worst traits, fears, and futures. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

I received a digital ARC of this book from the publisher, Kinsington Publishing, and NetGalley. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on the writing and story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.
Once again, the author knocks it out of the park with this one. After the first chapter, I was instantly caught up into the life of Jonny and Treva. The other Schrock siblings also show up in this book as well as their dad and some of their mom. I love the forgiveness, the love, the patience and the joy you will find in this book. Jonny must decide whether he wants to live the plain lifestyle or not. This book makes you feel like you have a front row seat in the lives of Jonny and Treva as well as their families. I highly recommend reading this book, as well as the other books this author publishes.
B is for Bonnet is book 2 in the Amish ABCs series. I thoroughly enjoyed going back to Holmes County, Ohio and reconnecting with the Schrock family. While we still see the other siblings, the main story is about the youngest son Jonny. It's his turn to live with their Amish grandparents and decide if the Amish life is for him. He meets Treva Kramer who owns a local coffee shop who has had a hard break-up with a man she thought she'd marry. While their sweet romance is the main focal point, we also get to see his dad Matt find a new love which I thought was wonderful.
Shelley Shepard Gray just keeps getting better and better! If you're in the mood for a faith-filled Amish romance, check this one out! I think you'll love it as much as I did!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

B is for Bonnet is part of Shelley Shepard Gray's new series, Amish ABCs, and readers who enjoy heartwarming Amish stories will not want to miss it. The series follows four siblings whose grandparents are Amish, and they are beginning to explore returning to their roots. This story focuses on Jonny, who lives with his grandparents and works at a bicycle shop. As he begins to build a relationship with a young Amish woman, his somewhat estranged father enters the picture. As the relationships develop, readers see the importance of forgiveness, faith, and family. Gray does a great job with the emotions and reactions of her characters as they explore new beginnings in their lives. I was given a complimentary advanced copy of the book through Net Galley and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own. If you enjoy Amish Romance, get your copy when it releases on January 21, 2025.
This is the second book in the series by Shelley Shepard Gray. These books are really good. This series centers around 4 siblings that were raised English by their parents. Their dad was raised Amish and left the church to marry their mom. All 4 siblings are now grown and contemplating converting to the Amish faith. They spent many summers with their Amish grandparents. Their Amish grandparents want them each to live with them for a year (2 at a time) living as Amish and learning their ways before they make their decision. This book centers around the youngest sibling, Jonny. He is living with his grandparents and learning the Amish ways while working in a bicycle shop. He falls in love with Treva who runs a coffee shop on her parents farm in a converted barn. As time goes on, his dad wants to become closer to Jonny and his siblings. He spent most of their childhood working and not being there for them or to help their mom. They eventually divorced which was hard on the children. This book is about love, forgiveness, family and second chances. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review. #netgalley #kensington #bisforbonnet
The second in the Amish ABC’s series highlights the youngest sibling Jonny living in his Amish grandparent’s house while making his decision to join the Amish faith or not. When his ‘English’ father shows up things are tense for all. Treva, has been hurt badly by her previous beau and is not looking for another one but finds herself thinking about Jonny y’all the time. Sweet story about family relationships but predictable.
Love the cover and love this author. I didn’t have to read what it was about because all her books are great. Great stand one book.
This short, inspirational Amish romance novel is a continuation of a series about 4 non-Amish siblings who move to an Amish community to be close to their Amish grandparents. I always enjoy reading about a sweet romance and the Amish lifestyle. Overall this is a cozy, enjoyable read.
