This second book of the Amish ABC's series did not disappoint! I still love the unusual story line of a group of siblings trying to decide whether to make major life changes. The family dynamics are interesting. And there are drops of wisdom sprinkled everywhere about becoming a "grounded" adult despite those less desirable dynamics.
I am blessed to be a part of the street team for this book. I was not required to leave a good review. But hey, It's Shelley Shepard Gray....I've never known her to write a bad book!

Jonny Schrock has now arrived for his turn to stay with his Amish grandparents. After learning of a health issue and quitting college he needs to refocus on life and the future. He and his siblings have been questioning if they had been raised Amish would their lives had been better. He finds a job at a local bike shop and realizes he enjoys being in the community.
Treva Hershberger is moving forward after having her heart broken by the man who she believed she would spend her life with. She has dreamed of having a coffee shop and works hard to build her confidence and prove she doesn't need anyone. Johnny discovers her shop and a good cup of coffee. He shows an interest in her, but she has come to a decision that he just wants to learn about becoming Amish.
I really like this series, and this story adds to the 'what will this Schrock family member do?' I received a copy of the book from the author and Kensington Publishing through NetGalley. This is my unsolicited opinion about it. It's a solid 4 star read for me. I love how the characters are learning to seek God's will for change and purpose in their lives. It was very interesting to see Matthew visit his parents to try to mend his nearly nonexistent relationship with his kids. The use of electric bikes by the Amish is another surprising topic for me. A good story.

“Opting to live a life of unforgiveness is a miserable way to live.”
I became hooked on this series and its unique premise in A is for Amish – four siblings who are seriously contemplating becoming Amish after craving the peace & purpose their Amish grandparents seem to have. As part of this ongoing experiment, they agree to take turns moving in with their grandparents and immersing themselves in the Amish life to make sure it’s really something they think they can do. The first book focused on the first two to try it – Martin and Kelsey – and in B is for Bonnet, we join Jonny with his own trial period already in progress. Out of all the siblings, he’s the youngest, the one who most appears to need the slower pace, and the one I predicted would most easily adjust to all things Amish. And as we watch him thrive at his new job and begin to build a relationship with the extremely-likable Treva, it seems that I was right. There are more layers to this plot than first meets the eye though, and I really enjoyed the different elements to Jonny’s story and to Treva’s, as well as that of one particular secondary character who took me pleasantly by surprise.
And that’s so delightfully typical of Shelley Shepard Gray’s novels – the charm and heart she brings to her characters, flaws and all. They always feel like real people, with all the same idiosyncracies and imperfections and strengths and joys as I have, and Jonny and his complicated family – and Treva and hers – are no exception. Even Jonny’s grandparents have some edges that would frustrate me in real life but are endearing to read about. Also characteristic of Gray’s novels? The secondary love story. I wasn’t expecting the one in B is for Bonnet to feature the couple it did, but I’m so glad the author chose them because this relationship added so much dimension to the story by default. Not directly because of the romance aspect, per se, but rather its indirect influence on some of the more fractured relationships in this series. I’m intrigued to see where Gray continues to take this restoration sub-theme in the next book!
Bottom Line: B is for Bonnet by Shelley Shepard Gray entertains you with its warmly-written characters, witty moments and sweet romance while at the same time touching your heart with its thoughtful exploration of forgiveness, both of others and of ourselves. I loved getting to know Jonny better in this book, and I enjoyed the time spent with the rest of his family too. I’m still curious about how Martin’s story will ultimately turn out, and after the ending of this book and the preview of the next I’m very impatiently waiting for Beth’s too! If you enjoy layered family dynamics, quaint rural communities, swoony love stories, and characters who feel like friends, then you definitely need to be reading Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish ABCs!

B is for Bonnet is the second installment in Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish ABC’s series. This series follows the four Schrock siblings on their unforgettable adventures as they discover the true meaning of faith, family, and the ABCs of life. B is for Bonnet features the youngest Schrock sibling.
Jonny is living with his grandparents while trying to decide if the Amish lifestyle is for him. He also is struggling with some unexpected health news. Shortly after moving in, he meets Treva. She runs the local coffee and pastry shop and is a surprising blessing in his life. While Treva and Jonny have an instant attraction to each other, she has been hurt by past a past love. Will Treva continue to shield her heart or will she be able to let go and love again? Will Jonny decide to embrace the Amish lifestyle? Will his family support him?
Their story is so heartfelt. I love how Jonny values his grandparents and their opinions. I loved watching Teva and Jonny’s relationship grow throughout the book. This is a story filled with forgiveness, second chances, family, faith and love.
This is a wonderful story that I highly recommend, and I can’t wait to read Beth’s story in the next installment in this series, C is for Courting!
This series is best read in order.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

3.5 ⭐️
I loved Johnny and Treva’s characters! It was really nice to see what the other characters were up to and how things that were happening in the first book were continuing along. I’m excited for book three to see more of Beth hopefully and what comes of her plot line!! I thought their dad, Matt, was a nice addition as well as Kennedy. I’m honestly hoping that down the line the two will move to Walden and join the community together but if it doesn’t happen that’s okay too! I thought this one tied up really nicely at the end even with the exciting news in the epilogue.

Shelley Shepard Gray's "B is for Bonnet" is a touching story about Jonny Shrock, one of four siblings exploring the Amish way of life. While staying with his grandparents, Jonny navigates personal health challenges while discovering if the Amish lifestyle is right for him.
The novel shines through its realistic characters, particularly Jonny and Treva, a woman currently reeling from a difficult breakup. Gray's strength lies in creating characters that feel genuine, with struggles and emotions that readers can easily connect with.
More than just a romance, the book delves into family dynamics, particularly Jonny's father's attempts to reconnect with his children. The story is a gentle exploration of personal growth, healing, and the challenges of finding one's true path.

I loved this Amish romance because it was fast paced and well written. I loved the descriptions of the baked goods and could almost smell them as I read the story. I really liked Jonny and Treva. I enjoyed Matt and his romance as he figures out some truths about himself. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I was given the chance to read B Is for Bonnet by Shelley Shepard Gray was not required to leave a review. It's a story of brothers and sisters whom have a parent whom was Amish and became English, his children struggle with what they want to do stay English or become Amish. B Is for Bonnet is about one son who is living Amish and falls in love with a sweet Amish girl and his struggle with health issues and family! It's a must read if you like reading about families and how they work out problems.

I had the honor of reading this book by Shelley Shepard Gray and I truthfully have to say that I love Treva and Jonny and their story. I hope this book is not the end of their story but the beginning of the next chapter in their journey!!! if you have not read a book from Shelley Shepard Gray I 100% guarantee you will not be disappointed. Thank you for the privilege of reading this book.

This is book#2 in the Amish ABC’s series but can be read as a standalone book.
This is Jonny’s story.
Jonny gets some bad medical news and decides to try and live Amish by living with his Amish grandparents (Jonny’s Dad was born and raised Amish but left the faith).
He finds a job at a bicycle shop and starts to have feelings for Treva who owns a coffee/bake shop. Both Jonny and Treva have to face their pasts to move forward.
The book deals with forgiveness, family, faith, second chances and acceptance.
Looking forward to reading more of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author through NetGalley. The review expressed here is my honest opinion.

Such a wonderful story with great characters. I loved seeing the multigenerational interaction and a return to Amish roots with the grandkids. Forgiveness, family, hope, and seeking out a life that truly brings you joy - all of this interwoven in this wonderful book.

This is the second book in the ABC series about the Schrock four siblings who grew up English with Amish grandparents. They have decided to explore living the Amish lifestyle. This book is about Jonny who experiences a health issue that he must address. Treva, cafe owner has more to give than just latte's. A great read. It is recommended that reading the first book will help the flow of the story line.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Jonny, the youngest of four siblings, decided to become Amish, following in their grandparents’ footsteps. The Schrock siblings—Martin, Kelsey, Beth, and Jonny—had previously approached their Amish grandparents with a request to live with them while they underwent life changes.
Amidst his journey of reinvention, Johnny recently faced a minor health scare. As he works to improve his well-being, he starts a job at a bike shop. He soon meets baker Treva Hershberger, and they instantly connect. However, Treva has had a past heartbreak and is hesitant to get involved with anyone.
I particularly enjoyed Jonny’s genuine desire to become Plain again for the right reasons, not just because it was a shared agreement with his siblings. This delightful second book in a heartwarming series is further enhanced by a bonus love story.
Many thanks to Kensington and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

A fun new Amish series by talented author Shelley Shepard Gray. The series features four English-raised siblings as they attempt to return to their grandparents’ rural Ohio community with plans to become Amish. Each book highlights one of the siblings and how they adjust as they leave the English ways behind. Really, how difficult can it be? Each story is full of challenge, inspiration, hope, faith, and lots of love. Do not miss this series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Another awesome book by Shelley Shepard Gray! Not too heavy on the romance but just enough to keep you on your toes. The story keep me interested and I had to know what was coming next. I would highly suggest reading the first book in this series, "A is for Amish", as it gives the backstory before getting into "B is for Bonnet". I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, "C is for Courting", later next year.

B Is for Bonnetia another inspirational story written by Shelley Shepard Gray. This storyline moves along at a great pace and will definitely keep the readers interest. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and their part in the story. The cover really draws in interest from readers. Within this story there are several lessons to be learned. To me the best thing is that forgiveness is also comforting as well as healing. The author has done an excellant job developing a story for her readers enjoyment.

B is for Bonnet by Shelly Sheppard Gray
Rating: Four Stars.
Language/Profanity: Nothing
Faith: Praying; thanking God; talking about God.
Romance/Sex: A few kisses; admiring; wanting to touch; at the very end a side character becomes pregnant by a wrong choice.
Violence ect.: A broken arm.
Other: N/A
Part of a Series: Yes. It is the second book in a series called Amish ABCs. The series is in progress.
Synopsis:
Raised by their divorced, lapsed-Amish father and English mother, siblings Jonny, Martin, Kelsey, and Beth can't wait to reinvent their lives. The four don't have much in common, but they long for the stable sense of family they felt when visiting their Old Order grandparents, Josiah and Sylvia Schrock, in peaceful Holmes County, Ohio. And the Schrocks couldn't be more surprised when the grandkids want to try living with them—and joining their faith . . .
When Jonny hears startling news about his health, he knows it's past time to change his life. Quitting college, he unexpectedly finds the fulfilling job of his dreams. And he's instantly smitten with cafe owner Treva Hershberger, whose baked goods are as warm and delicious as her lively personality. But no matter how hard Jonny tries, he can't seem to get past her secret sadness and distrust. Can he prove that his feelings for her are for real—and forever—in time?
A bad breakup left Treva heartbroken—and resolved to be independent without relying on anyone ever again. Exhausted from pouring everything she's got into her cafe, she’s stunned by Jonny’s easygoing ways—and drawn to his optimistic nature. But when she thinks his real interest is in becoming Amish, she's even more determined to stay focused—and keep her heart safe . . .
Soon, deep secrets and hidden family truths will test Jonny and Treva in unexpected ways. And with help from his warm-hearted grandparents, he and Treva might gain the happiness they secretly long for—with each other.
Thoughts: This was a pretty good book. Mostly the writing was very well done, but at times it seemed off...I liked the story line, and the characters. The romance was mostly behind the scenes, so we don't see much of them becoming closer. This was a slower book, not as fast paced as the onse that have battles, but it was a nice change.
Favorite character, part, quote.
Character: Johnny I guess, or maybe Matt.
Part: ...I honestly don't know.
Quote: But I am saying that forgiving our parents for being imperfect might make you feel better— and might make having a good relationship in the future with them a lot easier.”
-- chapter 14

Jonny Shrock is not sure that he wants to be Amish, but he is sure that he enjoys coffee, so every day he goes to Treva Hershberger’s coffee shop before he goes to the bicycle shop where he works. The attraction between the two is predictable, but so much fun to read. I was completely absorbed in the drama surrounding them, especially Treva’s former relationship that left her feeling unlovable and Jonny’s health issues that made him wonder how long a future he would have. I fell in love with the characters and the setting, but the plot kept me reading to find out how they would work out all of their problems together. My favorite character was a secondary one, Matt Schrock, Jonny’s dad, who is a man seeking his own second chance at love as well as reconciliation with his children and parents. I admired his determination and humility as well as his deep love for family. This story is heartwarming and a lovely romance that is a fast and enjoyable read.

I was lucky to read both books of this series. I knew when I read the first book, that I wanted to keep reading this series. And glad that I did. It was a light read and a story of 4 siblings that had experienced a divorce of their parents prompting them to move to the grandparent's home and considered joining the Amish faith, which was the original faith of their father who "jumped the fence". This was "Jonny's story in which he meets Amish Treva after hearing of news of his health that need addressing by changing his personal lifestyle. Forgiving others was a strong thread that carried through the story
The story was sweet and I enjoyed it. It was a good read and I look forward to C is for Courtship!
