I enjoy reading Shelley Shepherd Gray’s books because she usually intertwines faith and forgiveness throughout her storylines. Anytime you have a café or bakery in the book, and also a character who is thinking about becoming Amish, it makes for a cozy feeling. The personalities of the characters and the secrets that unfold, definitely peaked my interest and kept me reading.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own
“Opting to live a life of unforgiveness is a miserable way to live.”
It is a choice to forgive someone else, but you cannot make another person forgive you. That is their choice as well. In this sequel to A is for Amish, Johnny is ready to become Amish, but he must deal with family issues first. I love that the Schrock sibling’s parents show up in this book and that they all must learn to deal with the past and forgive before moving on with their lives. Treva is also a wonderful character who helps Johnny and the family find their way.
I deducted a star because the flow of the story sometimes left me a bit confused. Also, there were things that were told that I thought should have been shown in dialogue. Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable story. I look forward to reading the next in the series as soon as it is available.

This is the second book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish ABCs series and follows the lives of four English siblings who wish to return to their Amish roots. The first book intrigued me and I couldn’t wait to read this one. The second one features Jonny and Treva’s story as well as Matt, the siblings father. I was intrigued by everything that happened and read this one in one sitting. The storyline did not disappoint. I enjoyed it very much. However, in truth I read an Advanced Readers Copy and their were plot and timeline discrepancies which understandably so can occur. Regardless of this. I truly enjoyed the book. I look, forward to reading the next one in the series. TBR and Enjoy.
Jonny Schrock is one of four siblings who grew up with divorced parents. The four of them always felt loved and safe with his father's Amish grandparents in Holmes County, Ohio. The siblings are considering joining the Amish faith, and Jonny is next to stay with his grandparents and see how life is adjusting to Amish life.
Jonny knows he needs a change, after hearing from this doctor about his health. He quits college, works at a bicycle shop, and meets cafe owner, Treva Kramer. Treva is cautious of Jonny's attention, as she was left heartbroken by her last beau.
This was the sequel to A is for Amish, and it did not disappoint! Shelley Shepard Gray did it again with this title!
I loved this book. I liked the 1st book in this series, A is for Amish, but like this one even more. To see Kelsey settled down in her Amish life and Jonny coming to terms with what life he wants, made me happy. Loved the interaction with their dad also. Top notch book!
Definitely a book for library purchase. Thanks to #netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC.
Excellent sequel that actual surpasses te first book. As the youngest of four siblings, Jonny is finally breaking free as he moves in with his Amish grandparents. He loves work in the bike shop, and he discovers another love running her own coffee shop. Relationship issues abound as many people grapple with their identities, guilt, and relationships. Look forward to the next installment.
It was so good to read about the four Schrock siblings. The additional characters of Treva, Kennedy and Matt were a great addition as well. This story centers around Jonny and whether or not he will choose the Amish faith. I loved the element of forgiveness that ran throughout the story
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own
I always enjoy a sweet Amish romance by Ms. Gray and this is no exception.
I enjoyed Jonny and Treva's interactions and the coffee shop sounded delicious.
Looking forward to more of this series.
Loved reading the inspirational and captivating story. Even though Jonny finds out he has to be careful what he eats, he still wants to try living Amish, gets a job selling electric bikes, and wants to spend more time with Treva. Meanwhile, Jonny's dad s has a long road ahead of him to try to make amends with his children, and Martin, Jonny's older brother, is still unsure about becoming Amish. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story by the phenomenal author, Shelley Shepard Gray. Can't wait to read the next story in the series!
Jonny Schrock and his siblings wanted to see if they could assimilate into the Amish lifestyle.
Jonnys' sister, Kelsey had married Richard, an Amish preacher and she loved the life. Jonny had just received a diagnosis of high blood pressure and he was told he could have a heart attack and he was only 22!
Jonny decided that living with his Amish grandparents, Josiah and Sylvia, and changing his diet would improve his health.
Two months later, Jonny is living with his Amish Grandparents, and selling electric bikes to Amish farmers as they are cheaper to keep than horses and faster, too!
But then he meets Treva, an Amish coffee shop owner....
I absolutely love Shelley Shepard Gray's style of writing. Her characters come to life on the page and make me feel part of the huge community. I loved everything about this book - from the back cover description which pulled me in immediately to Treva and her cafe. I could feel the burden she was facing keeping it running and Jonny and his siblings. Wonderful book. I haven't found a Shelley Shepard Gray book that I haven't fallen in love with and this one was no exception. Loved and will definitely recommend to my friends who also love Amish stories with a faith-based theme.
I was given the opportunity to read and review this book from Netgalley. All opinions are strictly mine.
