3.5 ⭐ I am not a dancer, but I love dancing. And I am also really interested in movement as a healing practice and form of embodiment. So I was definitely interested in this book. The author and Journeydance creator/facilitator shares her personal story alongside dancing and journaling exercises for the reader. She has playlists, movement, and reflective prompts for states such as: sensuality, empowerment, embodiment, awakening, immersion & expansion, etc. I found this book to be engaging and interesting but I honestly think I'd rather explore this healing modality in a class or group setting, rather than alone in my house with a book. 😄

Overall I came away with a clear sense of the author's teaching perspective, and some types of movement that I can use to explore and embody different emotional states. I think this book will be great for dancers, embodiment coaches, or self-healers looking to expand their movement toolkit.

Not for me but well written, easy to follow with great instructions. I like that there are also videos on the authors website for those that are visual learners.

Thank you HCI Books for the ARC!

I'm not a dancer, but this book was incredible. It's a great book for beginners who are looking for transformational change through dance, or seasoned dancers who are looking to transform their lives through JourneyDance. This books is intense! Read it, and then go through it again and savor the details. Lots of great information here. You will learn a lot. I highly recommend and cannot wait to go back through this in exquisite detail to practice this healing technique of dance. Thank you to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review.

This is a powerful, important book for anyone who wants to commit to personal and spiritual growth in their daily lives. Each chapter focuses on a different step of Toni’s JourneyDance process, complete with background information, playlist suggestions, affirmations, movement guidelines, invocation, and closing prayer ideas. The purpose of the movements and the dance itself is to become more grounded into our bodies and more fully present to ourselves and others. And the best part is, you don’t have to be a dancer or to ever have danced before. It’s more about moving freely in our bodies than learning any steps.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher, for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved learning more about dance and movement from Toni's story. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I desire to move my body more and notice as I age the activities that once interested me don't anymore. I found this book to be helpful for new ways to incorporate exercise into my life through dance movement.
