This is another fantastic entry into the teen titans graphic novel series. It is intensely readable and the art style is beautiful.

In the latest volume of the Teen Titans series, we meet Kori, a college student with EDS and an increasingly weird life. Her sister is dating a crappy rich boy and Kori seems to be developing strange powers. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is crossing the country in an attempt to find Kori before Slade gets to her first.
The art is beautiful. The plot is fun. Honestly, you could probably start the series here, if the rest of them seem like too much, since most of the series is explained because Kori is new to the team. However, the whole series is worth it. Definitely looking forward to Titans Together next fall.

Loved this fourth installment. I wish there had been more with Cyborg since it appears he won't be getting his own book, but I am excited to see the team all together in the last book.

As usual, this addition to the Teen Titans series was great! I love how slowly the gang is being put together and they are getting ready to kick butt! The art is always superb and I loved how the stories are connecting to each other. I can't wait to read the next one!

Starfire was such a wonderful addition to the Teen Titans graphic novel series that I've been following over the past few years. I was a little nervous because Starfire is a beloved character by many fans, but I have to admit that this series did her justice. She's not an alien from another planet, no, but she's still an awesome addition to the titans and I already have plans to buy multiple copies of this book for my libraries.

I'm a big fan of the Teen Titans animated show. This is some great original storytelling that gives depth to characters we are familiar with but these give us a new view of the the Teen Titans, great for teens that read graphic novels. DC staying relevent.

I love the love given to hidden disabilities by the creators! Kori, aka Starfire, also has hidden abilities that a pharmaceutical is willing to exploit. Kira is used to looking out for her sister. Secrets abound and people are not who they are. Now Kori will need to be the "big" sister to protect them both.

This was a fun intro to Starfire's story. The dialogue at times seemed a bit cheesy but it was still enjoyable. I also enjoyed how all the previous titan stories converged during this one and I am excited for the next one releasing next year! I wanted to see more from Starfire's character but as this is an intro story, I'm sure we will get more from her in the coming books. All in all, i will recommend this book, and the rest of the series, to people either in my book club or as readers advisory in my library.

This is the story of Kori and her sister Kira and the discovery of their powers. Who can they trust? And can they stay safe from someone who wants them for their special abilities?

There isn’t much to say but that the art is absolutely beautiful. I really liked the storyline, and even though I didn’t read the previous books, it made sense most of the time. If you’ve read the previous books, read this one too. Even if you haven’t, it’s still worth the quick read. I really have no complaints. 5 stars!

Thank you DC Comics for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

My true rating for this one would be 4.5 stars. In this re-imagining of the origin of Starfire, Kori and Kari, sisters, discover that they are developing powers. Kari is leaning into it with help from her boyfriend and their soon to be step-father (also her boyfriend's father). Kori on the other hand, leads a quiet existence and questions a lot of what Kari does. Kori is not a partier and she suffers from Ehlors-Dahnlos Syndrome: a connective tissue disorder. This comes up a few times in conversation and Kori having bad days. It does impact how people perceive her. Slowly, she discovers she's developing powers and find H.I.V.E. where her sister is studying to be questionable in their methods. Eventually, she meets up with the Teen Titans and believes what they have to say.

This book stands on it's own, but also weaves into the other books (at least I think. I just got the other 4 to read and see a situation with Kori and Kari referenced in one of them). This is a great re-imagining of Starfire's story. My only questions is how is her EDS going to impact her powers? It seems to disappear halfway through the book minus references to her meds and such. I hope it doesn't just "vanish" because of her powers. Solid and worth having on the shelf.

A new fresh take on the Teen Titans. A new origins story for Starfire that has relatable characters, excellent artwork, and a message that will resonate with current events. The book ties in well with the other Teen Titans by Kami Garcia and does an excellent job in leading to the next title. It's great to see that DC is keeping up with the times and catering to new readers and old alike.

The fifth installment of the Teen Titans series features Starfire aka Kori who was Ehlers Danos Syndrome (EDS) and is working alongside her sister at a beach country club like place. Kira has a boyfriend who encourages the two of them to go to his father's lab to be studied (because Kira doesn't have the inherited syndrome) in an effort to find a cure-- little do either of them know that there are nefarious reasons-- to keep an eye on them because they have budding powers that each of their predecessors discovered around this time (who are on a quest to find them, ultimately happening before the end of this book).

Each of them admit to each other about these strange powers but Kira doesn't believe that her boyfriend might not be all he's cracked up to be. Kori's got a decision to make.

The action and climax work well in each of the installments as this one does, making me excited for the next one.

My kids (ages 9 and 12) really like the Teen Titans graphic novel series. (I've read most of them and enjoyed them, too. The stories are compelling and the art is incredible!) They were thrilled to read this one early because we were approved for a review copy on NetGalley!

Here are my 9-year-old's thoughts:

This book is as good as, if not better, than the other books in the series. I'm very excited for what I think is the last book in the series. The art for these books is fantastic, and the stories are great. This series introduces the characters very well, and I like how sometimes there are parts of their backstories. If someone wants to read this series, I highly recommend that they start from the beginning. This is a book that I'd definitely recommend. Even though I read it digitally, I'd still like to buy a hard copy.

Note: I received a review copy of this book via NetGalley.

Also planning to post review on Amazon after publication.

The compelling storyline and expressive artwork made this an enjoyable read. I like how the author infuses the plot with real life problems that people encounter while also exploring the burden and joy of having super powers.

Beautiful art and a great story. I really enjoy this series and was so excited to see Starfire pop up. I think this will be a big hit with my students.

Kori and her sister are ready for their summer job at the beach club. Kori must watch what she is doing because she has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which causes severe inflammation in her joints. Kira, her sister, is having a wonderful summer with her hot boyfriend. Kira’s boyfriend talks the girls into an EDS study that promises to help with Kori’s symptoms, but when they begin to develop powers, the summer fun escalates. Will these sisters team up or go their separate ways?

Teen Titans: Starfire is the fifth graphic novel in the Teen Titans series. Readers who have enjoyed the development of this story will be satisfied with this portion and those who jumped into this volume will not have any issues following. The graphics were on point yet the overall story dragged in a few spots. Starfire was a good bridge to the next book Teen Titans: Together.

Great addition to the Teen Titans series.
I enjoyed reading Starfire's story- a character I don't know much about. I would absolutely recommend that this be added to the library of anyone who loves superheroes and origin stories!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

First and foremost, I am still so in love with Gabriel Picolo's art style. I'm so happy that he is still doing this series, and he really brought Starfire and Cyborg to life for me. I loved the little nods to past iterations of the characters (the NASA shirt!!), but they were also still really fresh designs.
I did also like the representation here with Starfire and the EDS - seeing a superhero dealing with something like that has to be so validating for anyone with chronic pain.

Beyond that, I think it's a good continuation of the series. It definitely felt a little rushed compared to the others, and it felt like they really just wanted to finish assembling the team, but I get it. I was ready for them to all be together, too! I only wished Cyborg had gotten his own book, because it did feel like he just got kind of lumped in with Starfire's story. Anyone who likes the previous issues of the story, or the Teen Titans in general, will love this addition!

I think my middle school students would love this series. I was just starting to get into it and it ended. Can’t wait to read the next one. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced reader’s copy.

i received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review i’ve chosen to give!

i loved this. i love the teen titans and especially garcia and piccolo so was ecstatic to read this. however, i was gifted such a pleasant surprise. i have ehlers danlos syndrome and reading that the starfire also has it, and not just that but it’s discussed in depth with realistic scenarios i’ve been through daily. it’s clear the author knows what they’re talking about because everything that starfire describes has been something i’ve also dealt with but is never talked about. not only does starfire have EDS but the details are incredible. it’s rare to see a character with a disability, even rarer for it to be eds, and have it be written with the day-to-day issues, not just the huge things, or even just mentioning it once and never bringing it up again. i loved the use of tate being so manipulative, it adds another layer to kira and kori’s relationship in such a great way. this was so good, both as a fan of teen titans and as someone with EDS. i’ll be bringing this up with my uni’s disability council most definitely, and since im the president i will make it everyone’s problem haha (in a good way)
