This was just an okay thriller for me. It moved quickly, which is always a plus, but it never really grabbed my attention. It ended up being a skim read for me, but I can see how other people would enjoy it more than I did. The writing was decent enough that I think this was a case of it's me, not the book.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.
I really enjoyed this title. Obviously it's centered around a kidnapping but it's really about deeper secrets. As the book goes on the skeletons start falling out of the closet.
Suspenseful and witty, this was a quick read. I was immersed in the characters and love the setting. NYC will always be near and dear to my heart.
My only criticism is that it was slightly predictable . The writing was great so it made up for it!
Thank you @bloodhoundbooks for a copy of this title. All my reviews are my own.
I expected this book to be different. I was hoping for more suspense and twists. All in all, it was just okay.
One of the best books I have read this year - or any year. The tone constantly changes in this book full of surprises. Gwen, Gisele and Zivi are truly unforgettable characters. I had love/hate relationships with all three of them. One minute I was in love with one or the other of them only for that love to turn to hate and vice versa. I've never known such an emotional rollercoaster.
The plot is tense and taut; overflowing with shocks and surprises; and the very best black humour played out to perfection. The dialogue is as crisp and to the point as anything written by Raymond Chandler.
There's nasty old-fashioned gangsters; Keystone-style cops; and plenty of legal skullduggery making the many serious issues tackled in the story far more palatable.
An absolute joy to read.
Oooh what a gripping read. a fantastic page turner I couldn't put it down.
Thank you for the opportunity to review
I enjoyed this thriller, I was trying to figure out which Character I liked throughout this whole story. But I enjoyed this plot because I have never read anything like it.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
A New York public defender's baby is kidnapped in Central Park. A Bosnian former drug dealer whose partner lost a newborn suddenly has a daughter. But not is as it appears ...
As the police search for the missing baby, we learn the back stories of the three main characters. There are several twists in perspective that totally change the reader's opinion of the situation. And the ending is surprising, if overly neat and tidy. Overall, A Kidnapping In New York is a good thriller with well developed characters and a very different plot.
Central Park, New York City. A newborn baby is snatched, in broad daylight. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare!! Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, kidnapping, mystery, heartbreaking, and a few crazy twists and turns. The story was interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
