This is book 2 in the Leavenworth series, following Frankie (Jonathan’s sister from book 1) and Benjamin, her professor. This definitely had a different tone than book one, and was way more spicier and more cursing. I just didn’t love the main characters and felt like this was more lust than romance. Frankie was taking Benjamin’s law class to help with her social work studies and he was mad she wasn’t a law student and therefore was unnecessarily a turd to her. I just didn’t get his whole vibe and backstory. I just would have liked more connection between them. I’m still going to read book 3, but this wasn’t my favorite.
Thank you Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. With it being 90° out it’s hard to imagine the snow so thick and to be so cold as Frankie and Benji were. They sure knew how to warm each other up! Benjamin was an uptight hard shell of a man due to his childhood. Turning into a man that he himself didn’t like and didn’t think he deserved kindness. No matter how much he tried to sabotage something good in his life he just couldn’t give up something that felt so right. Frankie had her fair share of a rotten childhood but blossomed for the better. These two complimented each other so well ( grumpy vs sunshine)! I need to read Lucy and Jonathan’s story, the first in the series. I’m also looking forward to Zac’s story coming soon. With his shenanigans in this book I think he has a lot to unpack and is going to need a good woman to help! Thank you to NetGalley for this free advanced copy, I’m leaving this review voluntarily
A nice romance with an adventure twist. I could have done with some more steamy scenes between the 2 main characters and I felt annoyed that he was so unkind to her and she took him back quite quickly!
Thank you NetGalley, Victory Editing and NetGalley Co-op and K.L. Parsons for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read the first in this series so I was excited to read this one as well. I really enjoyed Frankie. She’s a strong, intelligent and ambitious woman. She’s going to get her masters and ends up with a tough, grumpy (sexy) professor that does everything to get her out of his class.
After a semester of conflict and running into each other, they find themselves both standing up in Frankie’s brother’s wedding.
Benjamin had parts I enjoyed and parts that were hard to look past. He has shut off a lot of his emotions and relationship skills.
My only complaint is that the grand gesture happens and then the book ends. There’s no follow up on the relationship, how Jon, Lucy and Todd react, how they progress, etc. I’m sure there will be an update in book #3 but I wish more was included in this book to finish up their story.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.
It's got a great setting, and the fun you want from a rom-com. My favorite part of this story was Frankie and Ben being forced together, which is always such a fun trope. I didn't read book one in this series, and didn't feel like I missed anything crucial, but there were a couple moments that I knew would've probably made sense if this wasn't my first in the series. Overall, I liked Frankie and Ben's story and while deep at times, it was balanced with the fun we expect from rom-coms.
Francesca “Frankie” Miller knew starting grad school after a ten-year hiatus from college would be hard, but the seasoned adventure guide never expected to make an enemy on day one. Showing up to class late and “ill-prepared” makes her the immediate target of her professor’s disdain. Fortunately, Frankie is no stranger to a challenge. As she counts down the days to her brother’s December wedding, she refuses to allow the intimidating and inconveniently alluring professor to derail her from her dream career.
Law professor and former powerhouse divorce attorney Benjamin Clark knows there is no such thing as happily ever after. However, that’s not stopping him from accepting the role of best man in his buddy’s wedding. Benjamin hasn’t exactly been there for his friend over the years and he’s determined to change that. Starting with a trip to Leavenworth to support the groom on his happy day. But when the professor learns that the beguiling blonde who vexes him from the front row of his classroom is his best friend’s little sister, he can’t help but be overcome with guilt for tormenting and lusting after her all quarter.
Far from campus during winter break—despite lingering resentment—Frankie and Benjamin strike a truce for the sake of the wedding. But when the maid of honor and best man find themselves separated from the rest of the wedding party on a snowshoe excursion gone wrong, they’re faced with a new set of challenges: survive being stranded in a blizzard while also ignoring the sizzling attraction growing between them.
Book two in the Leavenworth series follows Frankie and Benjamin who find themselves in winter time trouble. I was excited to read this one as I enjoyed the first book Love in a Landslide so much. Love under Snowfall was an enjoyable easy read, but didn't include the same snappy banter that was so fun in the first book.
I did find the ending anti-climactic, wishing for another chapter or two or an epilogue to get more of a conclusion on the characters story. Hopefully they are included in the next book, although based on who the focus will be doesn't seem very likely. But I will just have to wait and see when it comes out.
First, I would like to thank NetGalley and the author for the ARC for this book.
Title: Love Under Snowfall
Author: K.L. Parsons
Review:
I recently read Love Under Snowfall, the second book in K.L. Parsons's Stranded in Leavenworth series. While I hadn't realized it was a sequel, the story stood well on its own, though reading the first book might have provided additional context.
The plot centers around a professor and a student who, after a strained relationship, find themselves stuck in a snowstorm together. The forced proximity in such a dramatic setting leads to unexpected revelations and sparks between them. The tension and eventual chemistry between the characters are handled with skill, making for a compelling and immersive read.
One of the highlights of this book is its engaging plot and well-developed characters. The supporting characters, who were the main focus in the previous installment, added significant charm and depth to the story. Their interactions were a notable strength and contributed to the book's overall appeal.
The book does include plot reveals from the first installment, which, while intriguing, made me wish I had read the series in order. However, this didn’t significantly detract from my enjoyment of the story.
The upcoming book in the series will feature Zac, who wasn't my favorite character in this book. Despite this, I appreciate a good redemption arc and am curious to see how his story unfolds so I will be continuing the series.
Overall, I would recommend this book to someone looking for a good forced proximity, cute, sweet rom-com.
Rating: 4/5 Stars
This is such a cute book!
It was exactly what I needed. Light, easy rom com, enemies to lovers, teacher- student- but only for a part of the book, few lovely spicy scenes that made me smile so so much.
Benjamin is not perfect, yet, he was really amazing. He wasn't acting like a child, wasn't annoying. He handled all the problems very well. I also love the name Benjamin so much.
Francesca is great, too. Hard working, passionate, full of love for her family and friends. Both characters handled what happeded in their past very well.
I really like Frankie's brother a lot, too.
This is a super cozy winter book situated in nice witer town. Take a blanket, hot cocoa, and read this cute story. Just enough spice and sweetness to get you through the winter.
NetGalley ARC Feedback Review: *Love Under the Snowfall* by K.L. Parsons
*Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)*
K.L. Parsons’ *Love Under the Snowfall* is a captivating blend of tension, chemistry, and survival that keeps you hooked from the very first page. The book takes the familiar enemies-to-lovers trope and breathes fresh life into it with a thrilling twist—being stranded in a blizzard.
Francesca "Frankie" Miller is a strong, determined character, whose return to grad school after a decade brings her face-to-face with her tough and infuriating law professor, Benjamin Clark. The dynamic between them is electric, filled with biting exchanges and undeniable chemistry that sizzles even in the coldest of settings. I loved how Frankie’s resilience shines through, especially when faced with Benjamin’s disdain. She’s not one to back down, which makes their verbal sparring all the more enjoyable.
Benjamin is the epitome of a gruff, no-nonsense professor, who hides a softer side beneath his intimidating exterior. The revelation that Frankie is his best friend’s little sister adds a delicious layer of guilt and internal conflict for him. This twist not only deepens his character but also heightens the stakes in their blossoming relationship.
The setting of Leavenworth during winter, combined with the looming wedding and the unexpected blizzard, creates the perfect backdrop for this story. The author masterfully uses the snowstorm as a metaphor for the emotional turmoil both characters experience, drawing them closer together in ways neither anticipated. The survival element adds an edge of suspense that had me eagerly turning pages to see how they would make it out, both physically and emotionally.
However, I appreciated how Parsons handled the darker themes within the story. The discussions of past trauma and loss were sensitively woven into the narrative, adding depth to both Frankie and Benjamin's characters. While these topics were heavy, they never overwhelmed the romance, instead providing a richer understanding of the characters' motivations and fears.
The steam level in this book is high, with explicit scenes that are intense yet beautifully written. The slow-burn tension culminates in a way that feels earned and true to the characters' journey. The ending is satisfying, giving both Frankie and Benjamin a well-deserved happily-ever-after that felt both realistic and heartwarming.
*Love Under the Snowfall* is a perfect winter read for fans of contemporary romance who enjoy a mix of heat, heart, and a dash of adventure. Whether you're a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope or just looking for a story that will keep you warm on a cold night, this book is definitely worth picking up.
This was such a fun read! I hadn't read the first one yet but I will be rectifying that immediately! The setting was extra fun for me to read about considering I vacation in Leavenworth at least once a year. The tension between the characters was delicious. I was cheering for them even when they frustrated me. Can't wait to follow this series.
I loved this book! I haven’t read the first book in this series, but as they are interconnected standalones that was fine and I am excited to read about Jonny and Lucy’s story soon!! This was an addicting book where I keep telling myself ‘just one more chapter’ because I couldn’t put it down. I loved the slow burn and chemistry between Frankie and Benjamin and really enjoyed learning about their backgrounds which really helped to frame why they both are the ways they are. I would also recommend this book, my only wish is that it would’ve been snowy and cold when I was reading it so I could really have an immersive experience!!
Thank you to the author for inviting me to review this book!
Love Under Snowfall is the story of a college student who's in a little too deep but is doing a pretty decent job of handling life. This a classic romcom with drama, sex, romance and a bit of tension. Perfect escape for a rainy day or even a day at the beach.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read the free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book! Benjamin and Frankie’s chemistry sizzled on the pages. It had me swooning and laughing out loud at times. I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the short chapters so I could read “one more chapter” and keep lying to myself over and over. I also loved revisiting Leavenworth and getting more of Lucy, Jonathan, and Todd! It was such a fun read with a lot of heart! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
A huge thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the gifted copy. All opinions expressed above are my own.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
Love Under Snowfall is a cute, easy read! Perfect for fans of small town romance with open door spicy scenes. This is technically the second book in the series but they’re more like interconnected standalones and I didn’t feel as though I was missing any context by not having read the first. The characters from the first book are present, and enough of their backstory is included so you won’t feel lost. I’m a sucker for a snowed in situation and there were lots of tropes to be had - professor/student, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, best friend’s sister - so I decided to jump into the series with this one. While I did find some phrasings/situations a tad awkward, there were more that were funny and I still enjoyed the read. If you like outdoorsy contemporaries, give the Stranded in Leavenworth series a try!
Thank you to netgalley and the author for giving me an arc to read this book before it is published in exchange for an honest review.
This book is full of romance, enemies to lovers and teacher with student? What best to ask for. I really loved all the interactions throughout the book. The characters are funny, humorous and seem to attract chaos which I like as it adds spice to the story.
I initially didn’t realise that this was a book two and I haven’t read the first one. But in all honesty, I didn’t struggle to get along with the characters, it reads well as a standalone. You can quickly understand who is who and regardless of what happens in book one it’s absolutely fine to read this book without the background information.
The chapter where they end up stranded alone in a snowy mountains is a great part of the book. The forced proximity is really well written and is probably my favourite part of this book. This a slow burn to this book that I really liked and it made the story more believable which is sometimes missed in romance books.
The front cover is really pretty and I would easily pick that up in a bookshop as it makes me feel attracted to it and you can quickly guess what the book is about.
If I had to take a star off I would say it’s because the story could have had a bit more depth to it, more descriptions, more dialogues to some parts and maybe a slightly longer book.
Review to Come
Love the cover ❤️
Description intrigued me…
Author is new to me.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC
Oh my gosh. This book was everything I needed and more. I couldn’t stop turning each page. I started this series with book 2, this book, but before I even finished it, I went and bought the first one because I knew I had to have it. Parsons knows how to write a rom-com that actually has depth. 2.5 on the spice scale and it fit perfectly in every aspect. I highly recommend it! You will LOVE the banter and when certain people were put in their place, I was eating it up. SUCH a satisfying read! I had all the feels and I’m excited for the 3rd in February 2025!
P.S. I love Todd!
This is my honest review!
1.75/5

I was really excited about this book after reading the description as it had some of my favourite tropes (enemies to loves, forced proximity, small town) but it ended up being a struggle to finish this book and not DNF it. I just could not get invested in the characters and felt like they had no chemistry. They both gave me the ick throughout the book – personally I feel phrases like "her loins screamed in protest” and “her tits were more buoyant than usual, so he’d been pretty distracted” should not be used seriously in a romance book. I kept reading hoping that the ending of the story would make up for this, but both characters were really stubborn and not great communicators so by the end I almost wanted to throw my Kindle across the room. Again, this is just my personal opinion regarding those tropes.
After reading this book and meeting the MMC of book 3, I don’t think I will be picking up the next one.

4.5 stars rounded down. I really loved the majority of this book. There's nothing better than two people who despise each other realizing there's a very fine line between love and hate!
I didn't read the first Stranded in Leavenworth book, but I'm absolutely going back to read it. The characters from that story make several appearances in this one. This story focuses on Frankie, a woman who goes back to school for her masters degree and ends up with a very rude (but very sexy) teacher. Turns out they have one very important person in common, and they stand up in his wedding together. There's dual POV and several instances of forced proximity.
I was squealing, laughing, and feeling all the feels while reading this book. I love when two damaged people open up to each other and find love. There's good character development and the story is excellent. The only complaint I have is that there's a grand romantic gesture and then the book ends. There's no falling action, no epilogue and that left it feeling a tad incomplete to me.
Frankie starts off on the completely wrong foot with her hot family law professor. After stumbling in 12 minutes late and unprepared Professor Clark is beyond irked. What is a social worker student doing in a L2 class? Things continue to be dicey with them throughout the semester. After completing the class Frankie is beyond relieved to be done with Professor Prick, but life seems to have other plans. The pair get thrown together and end up stranded together in a remote snowed in cabin. The temperature outside might be freezing, but the cabin is burning with tension between Frankie and Benji. Will Benji and Frankie be able to work through there differences outside the cabin or will their romance fade in the real world?
Enemies to lovers
Grumpy sunshine ☀️
Stranded, forced proximity
One bed
Dual POV
This was a quick, fun read! I enjoyed Frankie’s witty remarks, and funny inner monologue. I wasn’t a fan of Benji, even towards the end. He was rude, insecure, and a bit obtuse. And the structure of the story line felt a bit off. I think it would make more sense if the story started in Leavenworth with flashbacks to the semester. Just felt like a long build-up to the actual story line.
All in all though this was a cute, quick read. This is good for people who like outdoorsy romance adventures with some spice and a grumpy sunshine pair!
Review will be published to good reads now, and on instagram during pub week.
