My hat is off to anyone who has the courage to invite complete strangers into their life. So much about the author's life is shared from traumatic moments as a child, to time served in the military, and the struggles that came both during and after. While parts of the book were uncomfortable to read- it makes my heart so heavy at the thought of anyone hurting a child- I am so glad the author was willing to shed light on that part of his past and his personal experiences with PTSD. It seems to be such a taboo subject- males expressing their struggles and their need for help. I am glad the author was able to seek and receive help, but shed more light on the subject.
The author of “No More Secrets” courageously shares and confronts his most vulnerable truths regarding his childhood sexual abuse, with the hope that by doing so, he might help others find healing from their own unresolved traumas.
This story is beautifully written with themes of redemption & resilience, and it presents strategies for overcoming the pain and lies of brokenness and unworthiness caused by abuse — which the author battled restlessly with and intentionally covered through his highly successful military career.
This book is for those seeking to understand how we can use even the most broken and ugly parts of our lives and transform them into a beautiful and meaningful purpose.
I a few years ago lost a best friend to suicide and it has been hard. The one thing that I wish I could have done was to have found out why she had done it. This book No More Secrets really helped me understand the thought process of mental health and knowing it happened in the state I was born in. Anne Arundel Mills was just a few minutes from where I lived and grew up before moving out of state. I understand the issues and mental things that happens in the military. I've seen way too many friends and family battle the issues and while many have overcome it, some have not and may never. After reading this book b Adam Volant, it has made me want to help those who suffer from mental health more especially after being in the military and the things they see every day. I highly recommend this book to those who are looking for something to read. It will help us all understand the battles many go through and how to overcome mental health of being in the military and serving for our country.
This book is about a man who had went through so much in his childhood and came out on the other side strong and resilient through various experiences in the military, counseling, and faith. This book makes clear that we have to tell our story to relinquish the stronghold that secrets have on our lives. The book started out well, with Adam describing his childhood and the sexual abuse. The book then went into his time in the military, which was not bad, but there were so many details that overshadowed the meaning of the book. Overall, the book wasn’t too bad. This is a really good story of resiliency from trauma, drinking, and PTSD.
