We are in the market for a new solo stove when I saw this cookbook! Definitely helped push us in the right decision! Terrific recipes with easy to follow instructions. I do wish there were more pictures because the ones included are awesome.
This book was a useful guide for outdoor cooking. Whilst it was aimed at Solo stove owners, the book was enticing and suitable for cooking on other fire pit types. It is a useful addition to the bookshelf.
The Solo Stove Fire Pit focuses on all recipes using a fire pit.
The Sections are
Chapter 1: Fire Pit Breakfasts
Chapter 2: Sizzling Sides and Snacks
Chapter 3: Sensational Skewers
Chapter 4: Main Courses
Chapter 5: Delectable Desserts and Sweets
Each recipe has servings, prep time, cook time, any cooking accessories needed, a little recipe blurb, ingredients, and directions. Most of the recipes had pictures alongside.
The recipes were very straightforward and I’m excited to try a bunch of these. I will say some pages of the cookbook were extremely dark and I couldn’t see the writing but most weren’t. Idk if it was the cookbook or a problem on my end.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
*The Solo Stove Fire Pit Cookbook* is a great guide for outdoor cooking. Especially ideal for those who enjoy gathering around the fire with loved ones this book features a variety of recipes crafted specifically for the Solo Stove fire pit, offering everything from straightforward, hearty dishes to inventive, gourmet meals that fully embrace the open flame.
I have a Solo Stove and have played “will it Solo?” where I try to cook a variety of foods in a blazing hot fire pit. Sometimes it works, other times my food is reduced to a smoldering pile of ash.
“The Solo Stove Fire Pit Cookbook” is here to offer help so that your fire pit can cook delicious meals in no time without the smoldering ash. The book starts with suggestions for tools such as an infrared thermometer (a must have since the stove gets SO hot), a griddle, and roasting forks (also important). Recipes are categorized into breakfasts, sides, skewers, mains, and desserts. The recipes also include HOW to cook the food relative to the fire (on or above coals, on the Solo Stove griddle or grill, in a pan on top of the fire pit, etc.).
For the most part recipes are contained in one page with an introduction, list of ingredients, and instructions. Ingredients are easily accessible. Even when the ingredient list is long, the recipe itself has just a few steps making it practical for busy cooks.
This cookbook is a must-have for Solo Stove (or other smokeless fire pits) owners who want to cook on their fire pit.
I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group–Harvard Common Press, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
My Dad told me about Solo Stove last year when I went to him for fire pit recommendations. A smokeless fire pit is a pretty incredible concept, when I saw the cooking sets you can get for them, I was even more impressed. So, when this popped up on my NetGalley I had to check it out!
This is a pretty awesome book.
Solo Stove Focus: I liked the opening bits that explain some perks, techniques, and tips around cooking on a Solo Stove. This is tailored book and opening with Solo Stove fundamentals was a great leaping off point.
Recipes: Forming the bulk of the book, we get a great selection of many outdoor cooking staples and a nice bunch of meals that were new to me (Coconut French Toast 🤤).
As a Canadian living abroad, I was so tickled to see some North American favourites like buttermilk pancakes, campfire sandwiches, Oktoberfest bowl and loads of maple-themed dishes! The entire dessert section was just *chef’s kiss*.
I was impressed by both the variety of recipes in the book and also by how straightforward a lot of them were. You don’t need loads of ingredients or to be a pro chef to make these creations!
Photography: While there’s not a picture for every recipe, the photography in the book is exceptional featuring mouthwatering food or atmospheric camping and outdoor shots.
After previewing this book, I’m even more sold on Solo Stove (they’re just quite expensive!) and I think I’ll pick up a copy of this delightful book for my parents! Not only a good one for Solo Stove owners, I’d also recommend this to fans of Will It Skillet? and outdoor cookery.
I’m deeply appreciative of Harvard Common Press for making this available on NetGalley! 🏕️ 🍽️
