This book started off strong then had a few "ehh" moments. Pacing-wise, I feel as though it could have taken a bit longer before a proposal. overall, it was a tad "heavy" for my likings for a romance though, but I think that's just due to personal experience with the subject matter. That said, I'll read anything that Abby Jimenez writes! Forever looking forward to the next one!
5 stars. Say You’ll Remember Me is a love story between a veterinarian with Rhysand vibes (his looks and the fact that he would do anything for the woman he loves) and a hilarious marketing genius. This book had me feeling such a wide range of emotions. There were some heavy topics as both characters had complex family dynamics (which made me want to cry at times) but I also literally LOL’d several times during this book, because of the banter between the characters and situations they found themselves in.
Highly recommend this book if you like:
-insta-love
-meet-cute
-against the odds
-hot veterinarians (lol)
-dual POV
Thank you to the team at Forever for the chance to read and review this eARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I was so excited to be approved for this ARC and it absolutely did not disappoint. Some of the heavier aspects in this book were hard for me to read because I can relate to them and it just felt so real. I thought the romance between Samantha and Xavier was sweet, but I didn't feel as connected to them as I have with some of her other characters. Some of the aspects of their relationship felt too unrealistic, even for a romance book. However Abby Jimenez does a great job at writing mmcs that are completely obsessed with the fmc, and what's not to love there?
Edit to add that she is the only author that can make modern references work.
I'M WRECKED. DEAD. FOREVER.
Abby, I don't know how you do it, but you write ache and longing better than almost anyone. I LOVED Just for the Summer and truly didn't think this would measure up but IT DOES.
Witty banter, a beautiful cast of family, a perfect romance, and a deep dive into the meaning of living and loving. Cannot recommend enough.
Say you'll remember me is the heartache of the year. This book had me feeling every single human emotion while also having me laugh almost every single page. This book will change you. You will never be the same once you close it's pages. You will be a better family member, a better friend, a better lover, and better person. Say You'll Remember Me cannot be missed!
Abby Jimenez never disappoints. I was skeptical of my emotional ability to read a story dealing with dementia. Jimenez handled it with such tact and sensitivity, but honesty at the same time!
Loved Xavier's story and the beautiful relationship he built with Samantha! Highly recommend this book and any book by Jimenez!
Thanks to NetGalley for the early copy of this book.
Abby Jimenez really nails it every time. Her romance books are a perfect gourmet cheeseburger of a book- gives me everything I love about romance with some depth and real life as well. Many content warnings for this including a character with dementia and mentions of physical and emotional abuse. If you like Abby Jimenez, you’ll definitely love this one.
I am a huge Abby Jimenez fan. I am also the daughter of a mother with dementia. This book should have been for me.
This book has what all of her books have: an absolutely perfect male love interest with zero flaws. She does that well. Usually the female protagonist has some character flaws herself.. this one doesn’t. Nonetheless, you’ll find yourself rooting for these characters and loving them. It was also a very quick easy read.
What this book lacks. is a clear plot line. There is no conflict. There is no will they won’t they. It’s just two people navigating life and a long distance relationship. The plot just sort of bumps along in visits over the course of a year with nothing really making them happen except clunky plot devices.
I also didn’t feel like there was any real closure or resolution to the plotline of the mother with dementia. They tried to make it end on a positive note, but it just didn’t work for me.
Thank you so much Forever for this arc, i appreciate it always!
I have health anxiety, i should have read the content warnings before reading this so thats on me. The romance is usually able to keep me going but it didn’t in this book. This is an insta lust book so they’re kinda together trying to work out long distance while the fmc is living with her mom that had dementia. The mmc also has abusive parents and alot of trauma and i loved that he was a vet. The romance was cute but also a lot of miscommunication and it felt like a mini subplot. This was not a rom com and i was bamboozled from the authors note saying it was. This has a romance subplot but i didn’t feel like it was a romance,
if you’re going into this book keep that in mind. Now i don’t think this is a bad book at all, it’s deeply emotional and portrays trauma in a real way it just didn’t give romance. If you like emotional reads that potrayd caregiving of a parent with an illness like dementia go ahead and read this. Overall this is going to find its target audience but it’s not me lol(the synopsis says playful yet deeply emotional, i thought it would be like her other books). Lovers of women’s fiction with some romance unite!
CW: death of a grandparent, parent with dementia, physical and emotional abuse, terminal illness, graphic dementia
While not quite as light as her previous books what a wonderful testament to love. Love for family. Love for friends. Love for animals. Love for your significant other.
Samantha and Xavier go on one momentous date before Samantha moves to California, leaving Xavier behind in Minnesota. After some back and forth, and unfortunately unable to change their circumstances, they can’t move to be in one place or the other. They decide long distance is the only way to go.
This deals with loss, abuse, and the complications that come from caring for an elderly parent. Some very heavy topics that Jiminez made feel very real, very hard, but also something her characters could triumph and grow from and grow together in. Everything is not magically fixed at the end of the book which I enjoyed as well. Another 10/10 from Jimenez.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
ALL THE FEELS. Abby Jimenez does it again with a book that felt so real that I felt as tired as they did half the time. Poignant, bittersweet, it was a masterpiece!
Xavier and Samantha's romance kicks off with a hilarious meet-cute that leads to the perfect first date.
But just as sparks fly, Samantha has to leave the very next day to care for her mother, who has dementia. She tells Xavier to forget about her, but neither can let go, and what follows is an angsty, heart-wrenching long-distance relationship.
Abby is known for her charming meet-cutes and relatable, flawed characters, and this story delivers on both counts. I loved Xavier and Samantha's chemistry.
Usually, insta-love isn't my thing, but here it was done so well-each visit felt fleeting and precious, a hard-fought moment against the odds. Xavier, with his loyalty, natural caretaking instincts, and a bit of grumpiness, easily earns the title of ultimate book boyfriend (he even looks like Rhysand from ACOTAR).
While this book touches on heavier topics, Abby handles them with her signature sensitivity.
I easily devoured this in a day, and l'd highly recommend preordering it or grabbing a copy when it releases on April 1st!
This book is sweet and emotional. The characters are well developed and relatable. Say You'll Remember Me is an engaging read. As a contemporary romance reader, I have started to struggle with the meme-ification of modern romance books. Trends and memes come in and out of fashion very fast, so the references in Say You'll Remember Me were unfunny and awkward at times.. Specifically the posts made on the Murkle's Mustard Instagram page. It would not discourage me from recommending the book.
Jimenez, as always, does an excellent job in her research of different health conditions. Samantha's experiences of living and caring for a family member with dementia are realistic and, at times, heart-wrenching. For those who have loved ones with dementia, this book will make you feel seen.
I got the ARC for this title, and as always, Abby Jimenez managed to make you smile through heartache. This had lots of angst and familial turmoil on both sides. I had some good laughs and a few swoon moments. the family dynamics were hard but beautiful. The spice was very low, but the romance was high. I would recommend it.
Wow! What an emotional rollercoaster!
That is the best I can describe Abby Jimenez’s newest novel, Say You’ll Remember Me. I’ve loved almost all of Abby Jimenez’s book (except her debut novel) and in my head I like to think she does no wrong. All of her books are amazing and wonderful, and Say You’ll Remember Me is included.
That being said, while I did enjoy the book at its entirety, I wished that there was a bit more romance between the two main characters. The summary explains the long distance aspect - which does come intro fruition - however majority of the book is spent on Samantha’s journey and her family situation surrounding her mother.
I love the themes of memories and remembering moments, cherishing them, I found it all so sweet. While I didn’t love it at much as her previous three books, it’s still a solid read!
I’m quite between a 3.5 star and a 4 star but I will rate this 4 stars on Netgalley.
Thank you for the arc!
Abby does it again folks! A heart wrenching and deep romantic fiction novel full with deep themes that are sure to tug at your heart strings. This book covers many topics including long distance romance, caretaking of family members, memory loss, veterinary professions, abusive family members and more. Jimenez tackles each topic with sensitive care and shows us through her characters how pivotal each moment can be when time is against you.
I felt the romance was a little insta-lovey but enjoyed the dates and easy banter between the two main characters. It felt like there was always something going wrong to force them apart and I was eagerly waiting for the other shoe to drop as I got closer and closer to the end. Some might think the climatic problem was wrapped up too nicely, but I think most readers of Abby’s will adore the way the dust settles.
Vibes:
Right person wrong time
Long distance relationship
Family dynamics
Banter and sass between characters
If he wanted to he would
Abby Jimenez is an auto buy author for me and this was no different! I love this book and the chemistry between the main characters was amazing and felt so real and natural. I enjoyed their struggles and it was very relatable. I will recommend this and her books to anyone!
I devoured this book so quickly. I read the whole thing in two days. I hadn’t actually read anything by Abby Jimenez until this book and boy, have I been missing out. I really appreciated how Jimenez treats the potentially triggering content with sensitivity. I also appreciated that the couple had to struggle in the grey area for a bit because life isn’t always black and white. They were torn because they both had responsibilities they needed to tend to which made their relationship extremely difficult. It was refreshing to read something that felt very realistic because love isn’t always the problem. I enjoyed every minute of it and was very happy with the ending because it was perfect for Samantha and Xavier’s lives. It’s also been a while since I read a book that almost brought me to full out tears which is such a compliment to Jimenez’s writing. I am so grateful that I got to read an early copy from NetGalley and ReadForeverPub. Thank you!!!
Abby Jimenez has done it again! I’ve always said she creates characters and worlds so real and rich you just want to step in and hug them, and this book is no exception. I had to force myself to slow down and savor every moment because, usually with her books, I fly through them too quickly and then I’m left staring blankly at a wall, wishing it wasn’t over. After much speculation, I can officially say Abby Jimenez has solidified herself as my favorite author. This story is heartfelt, beautifully written, and unforgettable.
Once again, Abby Jimenez finds a way to get us in the feels with real life dilemmas that could make us let go of people we love to be there for others. We meet Samantha, a huge pet lover who finds a stray cat with health issues who goes the extra mile to prove she can do anything. We also meet Xavier, a grumpy vet with a big heart and a rough past. After Xavier meets Samantha and has the perfect first date, he finds out Sam is moving to CA to take care her mom who has progressive dementia with her siblings and dad. But how could Xander see Samantha again? And will they ever be in the same place one day instead of thousands of miles away? Sam can’t leave her family, and Xander has a clinic he still is knee deep in debt to pay off. So how do you love someone when you can never live in the same place?
This book was everything I expected to be and more from Abby. Her ability and passion to be as detailed as possible with both physical and mental health issues with direct guidance from medical professionals brings a refreshing take on the innermost challenges of people who struggle to balance love and life. And she always finds a way to tug at the heart strings for soft and sentimental moments you wouldn’t expect. I can’t wait for the next one in this new group of people we are introduced to.
