I don’t know why I was so nervous about this book. I’m going to chalk it up to a lot of fantasy books have disappointed me this year. However, I’m happy to report this book not only met my expectations. They hit them out of the freaking ball park.

“To Shatter the Night” immediately picks up where book 1 left off. The book immediately throws you in with non-stop action. We undergo a quest filled with magical trials, prophecies, found family, heartbreak, love and magic. All leading to an epic conclusion for the Mistland duology.

I have to admit I enjoyed this book way more than the first. Which says a-lot cause most books struggle in their follow up book. That was not the case for “To Shatter the Night. My favorite part of this whole book has to be the romance. Jude and Kiara are definitely going down as some of my favorite all time romantasy couples. Their relationship was filled with great angst, yearning and devotion. I also loved that even though their relationship faced mountains of challenges they worked together and communicated in finding a solution together. I also loved the found family dynamic in this series. Especially with Liam and Jake. They brought so much hilarious banter and loyalty to the story.

Overall, “To Shatter the Night” is an and conclusion filled with self-discovery, family and love. Trust me when I say this duology is not one to miss. I can’t stress this enough but I highly recommend this series. And I can’t wait to see what Katherine Quinn does next. Also big thank you to Entangled for providing me an arc to read and review!

To Shatter the Night was the perfect ending in the Mistlands duet. This second installment picked up where the devastating events of To Kill a Shadow left off. I loved everything about this book. I loved how Katherine fleshed out Kiara's struggle with her darkness compared to her light. I appreciated the strength and gentleness both the FMC and MMC possessed. Just like book one, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. There were many twists and turns but they worked within the story. I am so sad that the story is in but I am very please with how the ending played out. This is a duology that will find a place on my trophy bookshelf.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, because I absolutely loved the first one last year as an ARC. Great ending to this duology and I can't wait to see what Katherine does next.

To Shatter the Night picks right up from where To Kill a Shadow ends. This book had a lot of love - romantic and familial, and the lengths people will take to protect their loved ones. There is also a lot of hurt, as love has a way of bringing that about when scorned or lost. Because this is a duology, you will get answers to the questions you will have and there will be an “ending”, but that is all I will speak to on that. You need to go on that journey yourself. If you enjoyed To Kill a Shadow, I have a feeling you will like To Shatter the Night and will be racing to get to the end to see how this all plays out. I love how strong Kiera is, but also how much she brings Jude to his knees. I also love Jake’s friendship with Kiera and the way his story advances in this book (no spoilers).

This was such a satisfying ending to this duology. Katherine Quinn picked up To Shatter the Night right at the end of book 1 and I am so grateful for that. I do recommend rereading book one before you pick up this book, there is important information hinted that you will miss if it's been a while since you read it.

Kiara grows so much in this book, she's still a badass FMC (Love me a female shadow wielder moment) but she stays true to herself. We follow Jude and Ki's journey separate from each other, trying to discover how to bring the sun back to the world and break the curse that has been set upon it. Each of them discovering some truths about their fated prophecy and what it really means for them. We get introduced to some new characters in this found family and Jude has to face some hard realities in his life and within himself.

This book has a lot of twists and turns, but both Jude and Ki's journey of self discovery sitting side by side with the actual peril was woven in so well and just as important to the plot. We finally get a lot of our questions answered and we learn more about the Gods that govern this world. I did take my time reading this book despite not being able to put it down. You will be on the edge of your seat the entirety of the book. The characters emotions scream from the pages and it was honestly so sad to say goodbye. This definitely was not the ending I expected but it will definitely leave you satisfied.

Thank you so much to Katherine Quinn for the E-ARC of this book!

This was a great ending for this duology. Right from the beginning, it was non-stop action. The journey this group goes on is hit after hit. At one point, I'm like, "When are they going to catch a break!?" And then then there was a plot twist I didn't see coming.

I loved seeing the characters grow and to see Kiara truly accept herself and for Jude to finally know his worth. I enjoyed the ending. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it made it that much better because we can see how Kiara stays true to herself. The found family was great. I think Jake is funny! I loved the theme around forgiveness and seeing relationships mend. Overall and enjoyable and entertaining read.

Quotes I loved
“If we don’t have much time”—Jude drew back, panting—“ then I best show you all the many, many wicked ways you’ve utterly ruined me.”

"I would happily take her anger. I’d take anything she wished to give me like the beggar I’d become."

"Magic itself is not power. Power comes from knowing your own heart and not fearing what you find."

"But some people aren’t made to fit into this world— they’re made to break it.

I found To Shatter the Night to be a great conclusion to the Mistlands duology. I was blown away by the first book and couldn’t wait to read this one. I love the world building and lore that went into creating this world, and I really appreciated getting to experience more with the various locations To Shatter the Night took readers. I particularly enjoyed the different trials and traps woven throughout the moon temple. I also really love the character relationships and the characters themselves. This continues to be a strong point in the series to the point that losing anyone feels unbearable. I love the slow burn yet intense chemistry between Kiara and Jude. Even more than that, I love the friendship between Kiara and Jake - the banter and sass in their friendship is so great. The plot is wild in this book between rescues, treasure hunting missions, character reveals and betrayals. It will certainly keep you on your toes.

Forget the shadow daddies what we needed was this Shadow woman!!! What a ride and great ending. I’m glad I got into this series a little late cuz I picked up book two as soon as I finished book 1. Read this; you will not be disappointed.

Wow, what a journey! After the cliffhanger ending of the first book, I couldn't wait to see where Katherine Quinn would take us next, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

From the very first page, I was pulled back into the beautifully crafted world Quinn has created. The characters felt so real, and their struggles resonated deeply with me. I loved how the story explored themes of resilience and hope amidst darkness. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat—just when I thought I had it all figured out, Quinn threw in another surprise!

The emotional depth in this sequel is incredible. I found myself rooting for the characters more than ever, especially as they faced their fears and fought for what they believed in. The relationships are complex and beautifully written, making every moment feel significant.

If you loved the first book, you absolutely need to pick this one up! It’s a perfect blend of suspense, emotion, and stunning prose.

A wonderful conclusion to the Mistlands duology!

This is a true romantasy — romance forward, with the fantasy elements as secondary, and it’s exactly why I love it. Jude Maddox has some of the most disarming, swoon worthy lines. It’s effortless to fall in love with him. Kiara is strong and intelligent, and will stop at nothing to save the people she loves. I enjoy their chemistry and banter. Spice level is a two!

The found family vibes are strong in this one, and I loved Jake’s commentary throughout. Liam’s return also add to the plot’s complexity. Definitely recommend a reread of book 1 if you haven’t read it in a while, because Katherine wastes no time getting you back into the thick of things!

If you enjoyed Dawn of Onyx or Crimson Moth, you should absolutely check out this duology!

Thank you Entangled and Netgalley for my e-ARC. This is my honest review. I loved book 1 and was so excited to continue Jude and Kiara’s story!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This book was a wonderful conclusion to the Mistlands duology. The story starts right where "To Kill a Shadow" left off. This book was fast paced and full of adventure with lots of twists and turns. I absolutely adored Kiara and Jude. They are both so afraid to love, feeling unworthy of it. So watching their characters develop to find that trust in themselves and each other despite all they are dealing with to save their realm was wonderful to read. Kiara is such a strong female lead. I absolutely adored her character. However, my love for Jude grew immensely in this book. He is so damaged from his past that I can't help but love him and root for him. So, when some of the twists happen in the book, I was so sad for him. Thank goodness for Kiara. Kiara came into her own in this book, finally accepting who she was and the power that she had. They go on quite the journey, meeting some interesting people along the way. As much as I loved Jude and Kiara, I also really enjoyed seeing the relationships develop between them and the side characters. This book was such a fun read that kept me on my toes. I enjoyed every minute of it!

Thank you so much to Entangled Teen and NetGalley for the eARC!

What an amazing conclusion to this romantasy duology; a must read!! The storyline continued smoothly from where we left off in book one however it offered many more twists and turns, uncovered longstanding plots and betrayals, long lost love, and provided an exciting continuation to Kiara's and Jude's pursuit to break Asidia’s dark curse without losing each other.

I found that the characters were very well developed making it easy to fall into their shoes as we read through their point of view. Kiara's fight to find Jude and have the life she wants with him yet trying to keep the shadows at bay without being lost to them. Jude's distancing to protect the woman he loves, yet feeling the bond need to be together and find a different solution to one day see the sun rise by her side. The fox's reason for doing what she did, and how she ultimately felt about it despite her reputation. And then there's Jake, and Liam..

Both books were fantastic however I do feel that this one gave us a very satisfying ending. The Epilogue was the cherry on top at the end as well, I wouldn't skip it! Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the advanced reader copy, and for allowing me to give an honest opinion.

I became utterly captivated by 'To Kill A Shadow' and eagerly awaited its sequel, 'To Shatter The Night.' This fantasy duet exceeded my expectations! It's a poignant tale of tragedy, transformation, courage, love and justice. If you're drawn to both the darkness and the light, this duet is a must-read, inviting you to embrace the darkness and fall for the light. (;

Thank you Entangled Teen and Netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review. First, I throughly enjoyed To Shatter the Night more than To Kill a Shadow. I loved how the book picked up right off the cliffhanger that TKAS left us on. Immediately, we find ourselves with Kiara trying to locate where Jude wandered off to. While wandering through the mists, two more gods appear to assist Kiara and Jake with finding Jude. Upon discovering all of the clues, Kiara finds Jude, but at that moment is when Jude is captured. He is tortured, but during that time, Kiara finds out more of her powers specifically her shadow powers. Jude eventually escapes with the help of a God and runs into Kiara’s brother Liam. The same time, Kiara is with Jude’s mother and eventually all find one another again. Kiara and Jude BOTH learn more about their powers seeing as Jude is light, but Kiara is both light AND dark. We learn who King Cirian truly is and who the true Moon God is as well. And let’s just say, he is closer than you may think. I’m really happy with the way this book ended upon with Jude making amends with his mother really sealed the deal for me.

In a land where the sun goddess has fallen and it has been a forever night, the only way to restore the sun is to sacrifice the one you love the most.

And that’s just unacceptable.
🌑
This book was…exhausting 😳. What they went through and had to endure was a lot. Without giving away any spoilers…in book 1 they had to endure the trials of the mist, in book 2 there was a quest to find each other, a rescue, and a journey through magical challenges.
🌑
Filled with: heists, magical relics, fallen gods, hidden identities, quests, magical challenges, elemental magic, prophecies, found family and reunited family, heartbreak, betrayals, and sacrifices.
🌑
The mists of One Dark Window meets the adventures and traps of Indiana Jones meets the magic of The Labyrinth with the divine battles of Percy Jackson all thrown together.
