This book was everything. I couldn’t put it down from the first page. I was hooked. I loved the characters so much and the plot it honestly was one of my favorite reads of the year.

This book was amazing. I am so thankful that I got to read this copy before it comes out in December, thank you! I have been recommending To Kill a Shadow to everyone at my library and when patrons come up wanting a fantasy novel. I thought the duel point of views went seemly together. The book was a very quick pace but not too fast. I love Jude and Kiara. They compliment one another so well. Even though I am sadden that Jude isn't able to spend time with Kiara during the daylight hours & I'd love nothing more for them to marry and have little babies, I am so happy that they can be together - after dark. I did not see the twist of the Moon God being who he was. That did take me by surprise. I wish we would of gotten a little more with Jude and his mom, the Fox, but it still worked. Now I'm curious if this is going to be our last book in this series because it ended happy or are we going to continue on with Kiara and her adventures?? Overall, I loved this 2nd installment in the Mistland series.

This was an amazing end to this duology. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect. Jude and Kiara are SO good together. While they had their issues in the first book, and had to move forward and work together quite a bit in this one, I’m so happy everything worked out the way it did. The banter was great, their little found family is so strong even with Jude being unsure of the Fox and her group. Jake and Liam?! Ugh, I love them together!

To Shatter the Night made me feel every emotion - tension, familial love, romantic love, frustration, hatred, surprise. The adventure and fantasy, the magic. Gods. All of it.

The writing was much better than in the first book, although I still enjoyed that one quite a bit as well. This one gave me to same feeling that Throne of Glass did. And maybe there’s a possibility of a spinoff with that ending😉

I Loved this books so much. It was the perfect ending for Jude and Ki. It took me on a wonderful roller coaster ride, that kept my heart beating to fast, not knowing what’s coming next In the story. Can’t recommend this book enough. It was phenomenal.

I really enjoyed the conclusion to this fantasy romance duology. I did a reread of To Kill a Shadow before reading this sequel, and I’m very glad I did otherwise there would’ve been vital pieces I missed.

Kiara has all the traits I love in a FMC plus it is SOOO refreshing to see a female shadow wielder when it’s usually the MMC wielding shadows. Jude Maddox is a fantastic MMC and their slow burn is lovely. It took me a while to read this book because I wanted to savor it. I can’t wait to see what else she writes next!!

Thank you so much to the author, Entangled Teen, and NetGalley for the ARC!

If you like:

💜female shadow wielder
💜Mulan vibes
💜completed Duology
💜slowest of slow burns
💜magic system with gods
💜loveable side characters

Then you should read this one!

Please note that I will post the above review to Amazon once the book is live

If I could give ten thousand stars to a book, this would be the one to earn them.

I AM BAWLING.

This was SO GOOD.

Like I’ve never felt that so thoroughly complete with a book series before and this just… fit.

Arlo, our grumpy little guy. You did good.

Jude and Kiara got their happily ever after. Their forever ever after (literally). Their once in a lifetime. Fucking soulmates. The way KQ gave them the rest of their immortal lives for their happiness after all they’d accomplished and gone through… I couldn’t think of a much better and happier ending for those two.

Liam and Jake—FUCKING A. they were so cute and I lived for their interactions. I’m so glad they’re together now.

This was such a good and soul warming finale and idk how much else to describe how WARM this book made me.

I had been waiting for this book since the moment I closed the cover on the first. It could not have been better. There was so much action, suspense and lore.

I just adored the banter between the characters, the found family vibes and the slow burn romance. There were moments where I wanted to scream WHY….. but my goodness the twists and turns were just too good.

Thank you Katherine Quinn for gifting us with this outstanding book.

Thank you to Katherine Quinn and the entangled team for this ARC! I was so ecstatic to be able to get my hands on this as this has been an anticipated read for me for 2024!

What a well written wrap-up to this duology that all started with To Kill a Shadow! Please make sure you read that first to truly be able to enjoy and understand this sequel!

I do suggest doing a reread before reading this one because it did take me a second to jump right back into this world and remember all of the nuances of the first book! But once I jumped back in, dang I was hooked!

I won’t give any spoilers away, but just know the banter continues and gives such love to this whole story!

I do have to say, this one did tend to run a tad longer than I would have thought or liked. But it was easy to be hooked and get right back into the story!

I am SO sad this story has come to end, but it was done so beautifully and will be a duology I recommend and reread all of the time! Such a well written true YA fantasy!

A better ending couldn't have been written for this story. All of the lore in the book was even better than the first. Seeing everything tie together was so satisfying. The continued banter between the MCs was perfection. The world seems so large that I could see a spinoff happening and it being a good read also. I do feel that the book was a smidge too long. There are easily some parts that could have been omitted and not left holes. The twist was like "sure, I guess I could see that" but not really as impactful as anticipated. However this was still a legit wrap up to the series.

This is one of the best sequels I've ever read! I'd give it a million stars if I could, it's just that good!

I loved being back with Kiara and Jude! They had me so emotionally invested in their story. And the way that the second book tied into the first was genius!

The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. But everything came together so perfectly. The ending did not disappoint!

This book is amazing! I highly recommend it!

Thank you to NetGalley, Katherine Quinn and Entangled Publishing for allowing me to read this book ahead of release in exchange for my honest opinion.

“We weren’t made for easy, Commander.”

Thank you to Entangled Teen and Netgalley for the eARC!

This was an extremely satisfying conclusion to the story that started in To Kill a Shadow. My favorite parts were the sections of romance and banter between our two leads. I melted at their interactions. These two really are stunning!

Where I wholeheartedly ADORED the first book in its entirety… I think this one fell a little flat in comparison. Obviously still great but not as good as the first.

The book felt long. It almost felt as if the story was elongated to fit into two books when it easily could have been a 500-600pg single book? A lot of the stuff in this second book probably could have been cut completely - especially some stuff in the beginning. And in my opinion, the twist/reveal in this book would have had a bigger impact that way. As it were, the reveal barely made me twitch 😂 I was like “oh, okay.”

The other small qualm I had was the insistence that every character have a significant other. It felt forced 🤦‍♀️ Where the first book was so unique in that it didn’t try to force things… this one did quite a bit, especially with the romances of other characters.

Still, overall, a solid conclusion and a book duology I would recommend because it does veer outside the “norm” and do things that are new and unusual! I will definitely be reading more from Quinn in the future!
