I devoured this book. If you love a family drama inspired by true crime you will love this.
Hailey is caught off guard when her husband Jonah says he wants a divorce. Things between them have been tense but she had no idea he was this unhappy. They share a 4 year old daughter Maya. 3 years ago Hailey reluctantly moved to upstate New York so she is separated from her close knit family in Florida. S the divorce proceeds they can’t seem to come me to an agreement. The Situation escalates and shows you how ordinary people can’t become involved in a sinister situation.
This novel is well written. It explores the family dynamic from the point of view of Hailey’s Mom, dad and brother. The character development in this book was exceptionally done. The book drew me in. I was empathetic for what Hailey and her family are going through. I caught myself thinking about these characters when I wasn’t reading. It makes you question how far you would go for your family.
Thank you to netgalley for a chance to read this book. I loved it!

Hailey Gelman is known as Sunshine. She is easy going, and almost subservient. In fact, she has allowed her husband Jonah to control her every decision for a long long time. When Jonah decides to start proceedings for a divorce, Hailey's extended family gets involved. Suddenly, Jonah is dead and Hailey is the prime suspect. Read We Would Never to get to the bottom of this straightforwardly written tale.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of We Would Never by Tova Mirvis.
This was a fabulous look at how we never know what we will do until we are in the thick of a situation. You can say that you would never do this or that, but when desperate enough, you just might do anything. This story of Hailey, her contentious divorce, and a family willing to go to extremes to help her is a a very tense, psychological novel that keeps you turning the pages. Well worth the read!

Mirvis is one of my favorite authors. This novel is different from her previous books, but just as good! A family is caught in the drama of their daughter’s divorce from a man who has disparaged her family for years. Hailey and her child, Maya, become embroiled in the relentless push and pull between her husband and her family. The matriarch, Sherri, becomes obsessed with the battle. Added to the drama is the fact that Hailey’s husband Jonah insists that they remain in Binghamton, NY, while her family schemes to bring her to Florida.
Hailey’s brother Nate is both involved in this issue as well as many of his own. This provides another compelling sub-plot.
As this heats up, the title becomes more and more appropriate, NEVER WOULD WE EVER, becomes the center of the conversation of how the family can rid itself of the man causing unhappiness for Hailey and Sherri. So, what would they do? This becomes an issue readers will think about, and question as the solution becomes more clear.
This is real winner! Totally engrossing, well-written and extremely thought provoking. Who metes out punishment? Are there two sides, or three, to this family explosion.
Thank you Netgalley for this great read!

3.5/5 stars.
I wanted this to be a five star read, and in the beginning I thought it might be. It truly was a good book, but the last 1/2-1/3 of the book just didn’t excite me.
My only criticism is the way the story unfolded — the timing of details being shared made the last 1/3 or so of the book anticlimactic.
Overall, the story was interesting and addicting: a newly single Mom, a ridiculous ex, a messy divorce, an overbearing family, and a murder.
Thank you to Net Galley and Simon and Schuster for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
