I loved this short romance. I never read a set up like this before. It sent me on an adventure. I could actually feel the adrenaline and shortness of breath. It made me feel like I need to pack up a backpack and go off trekking somewhere.
I think I would have enjoyed this book more if I didn’t have an intimate knowledge of how air ambulances worked. As it was, I found this sadly lacking.
I think too, for me, as an Australian who lives and works in the harsh desert where we rely on Flying Doctors, I would have preferred a little more research into Australia as a whole, the landscape, the customs, the nuances in language.
A super quick read, you can easily finish this in an hour.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

Quick read romance set in the dangerous profession of helicopter paramedics. Tama heads up the team, and when a new team member is brought on board, he assumes nepotism and does his best to ignore Mikki, who happens to be an ER doctor and would be an asset to the team. Sparks start to fly immediately, and the close proximity fuels the fire between them. Is that fire sustainable?
This book is set "down under" and the jargon is authentic. I enjoyed reading about the various rescue methods used by the specialized team, and their certification requirements.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but opinions are my own.
Helicopter paramedic Tama James isn’t afraid of hard work, danger or putting his patients first, but when he is asked to train Mikayla Elliot, the superior's daughter, he believes she didn't earn the spot, and is set out to make it so difficult. It didn't go as he expected, because really she is the female version of him. She isn’t afraid of hard work, danger or putting his patients first, and she is a real doctor. It is a fun story, but because of their line of work, they discover things about themselves, which is more of how they are so alike.
They get paged and when they get to the call, there is a 15-year-old boy on a cliff that isn't sturdy. Mikki, is going to repel down to him, leaving Tama in the chopper. What happens then, will be like all three of their lives come together, and they all have had the same experiences in life. I am not going to spoil it for you. This story has so much depth of what life can make happen, to get people together, to help them process what they have always tried to bury, and see how it has affected their lives. It was so much more than I expected when I started reading, and it was amazing how Alison Roberts told their story.
I received an ARC from Boldwood Books through NetGalley.
The authentic paramedic setting adds intensity and creates a conflict between the couple's attraction and professional relationship in this engaging medical romance. The chemistry between Tama and Mikayla is hot, and their emotional commitment reflects their passion for each other. It's an engaging, quick read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
An engaging romance. Heartbreaking back stories. Interesting details about the career of helicopter rescue personnel. Exciting moments. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
Fearless, dangerous and life savers are what these paramedics are. But falling in love isn't something they want or is it? I screamed both from the danger and the budding romance. What a combination!
Nikki is determined to reach her next dangerous goal, but she can tell her trainer hates her on sight. Tama is not a babysitter and he isn’t about to start being one at his job. He risks his life to save others and now he being made to train s woman because of who her father is. Tama is ready for her to fail on the first day, but little did he know how determined Mikki is. Will Mikki prove Tama wrong on more than one thing? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Helicopter paramedic Tama James is tough, fearless, and dedicated to his patients. When he’s assigned to train Mikayla Elliot, the daughter of his superior, he’s skeptical, thinking she got the role through connections. Determined to make the process difficult for her, he soon realizes she’s just like him—hardworking, fearless, and committed to her patients. Plus, she’s an actual doctor. Their similarities lead to a deeper connection as they work together, facing challenges that reveal more about themselves.
During a call to rescue a 15-year-old boy stranded on an unstable cliff, Mikayla repels down, leaving Tama in the helicopter. What unfolds is a moment where their lives intersect in unexpected ways, with shared experiences that bring them closer. Without giving away spoilers, the story shows how life’s circumstances can draw people together, helping them confront and process what they’ve been avoiding. The depth and emotional layers of the story are far more profound than expected, and Alison Roberts masterfully tells this tale of connection and healing.

Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping experience as two rescuers find love while on a helicopter mission. It's an intriguing tale of loss, denial, and love—especially about allowing yourself to love and be loved. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley.
Drs who know how to woo a girl what’s not to love. This author’s books have the ability to simultaneously make you unable to stop reading while wishing you could bury the book somewhere deep underground where it can't be found. Compelling and didn’t want it to end!
Exciting novel with a no-holds-barred female lead! There isn’t much Mikki can’t do if she puts her mind to, and Tama is there to observe in every way. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. If I could make one wish, I would wish for a stronger sense of place. I didn’t realize at the start, but I think this takes place in New Zealand. Yet, it could have been Colorado from the lack of setting development. My biggest clue was talk of an equipment loan from Australia.
Tama was quite the hero, but Mikki was just as much a hero(ine) as he was.
Fun, interesting escapist fare. You can’t go wrong!
This turned out to be a really really good read. I like suspense with my romance and this had it. When Mikki decides to leave the ER for a helicopter rescue crew, her new team includes one hot mentor.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review
Good storyline, but took awhile to get into it. Tama and Mikki worked well together and they did have chemistry. Just when it got really good at the end, it ended. I felt like the ending was cut short.
ARC Review: *Doctor Off Limits* by Alison Roberts
Prepare to be swept off your feet with *Doctor Off Limits*, a thrilling romance that sizzles with workplace tension, undeniable chemistry, and heart-stopping moments in the high-stakes world of helicopter paramedics!
Meet Tama James, the no-nonsense, tough-as-nails helicopter paramedic who doesn’t cut corners. He lives by the rules of the job—where danger is a daily companion, and every team member must earn their place. So when Mikayla Elliot, a *bubbly, beautiful doctor*, arrives as the newest recruit (and the superior’s daughter, no less!), Tama’s first instinct is to prove she’s not cut out for the grueling work.
Cue the *Enemies-to-Lovers* trope, where sparks fly and not just from the adrenaline of saving lives! Mikayla, far from being a privileged slacker, is determined to show Tama—and everyone else—that she deserves to be there. Her enthusiasm and passion for helping people shine, even as Tama tests her at every turn. But what neither of them can anticipate is the *undeniable attraction* simmering beneath the surface, ready to ignite.
The *Forced Proximity* of working long hours together and the intensity of their high-stakes job sets the perfect stage for their chemistry to catch fire. Mikayla’s infectious energy and Tama’s brooding intensity make for some electrifying moments—both in and out of the helicopter. Their journey from mistrust to mutual respect, and eventually to love, is a heartwarming rollercoaster, as they both wrestle with keeping things professional in the face of such irresistible pull.
As much as this story is packed with romance, it also delves into the world of emergency rescue, making the action-packed backdrop an exciting element that keeps the pages turning. Tama’s protective nature and Mikayla’s fierce independence create a dynamic that’s impossible not to root for.
*Doctor Off Limits* is a perfect blend of *slow-burn tension* and steamy romance wrapped in a whirlwind of life-saving drama. If you love romances with a dash of danger, high emotional stakes, and a happy-ever-after, this is one for you!
*Microtropes*: Enemies-to-Lovers, Tough Hero, Bubbly Heroine, Workplace Romance, Forced Proximity, Proving Yourself, HEA.
This was a quick and spicy romance about two people that are off limits to each other. I definitely enjoyed the writing style and topics. Alison Roberts has a way with words.
THankyou Netgalley for an arc of Doctor Off Limits by Alison Roberts
This book was amazing! I could not put it down. The romance was so cute and the story was beautifully written.
I liked this book. The tension and the character was cute ☺️. Sometimes it was a little hard to read because of some of the terminology I was unfamiliar with. Having said that a lot because I then googled it and found out various parts of helicopter medics
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
