I haven't previously read anything by Jean Louise, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I recognize that Igniting Fate is a sequel and chose to read it without having read the first book (Walking Fire). Even without reading Walking Fire, which I do plan to go back and read and then re-read Igniting Fate--the author wrote Igniting Fate in such a way that I was able to understand the story and have an idea of what transpired previously. The world building was descriptive and immersive in a way that felt real. There was a lot of depth to the story, which was greatly influenced by the many cultures that the author wove into this story. I liked the characters. Naira was a typical headstrong, albeit stubborn, FMC and could have been more developed compared to the secondary characters, but she was likeable.

I really enjoyed this book!! The plot was so interesting and full of adventure that I was never bored. The author did a great job with character development because I was full invested in there stories. I will be recommending this book to all of my friends and family.
