First time checking out her work, and I’m hooked. The audio version? Straight fire. Seriously, if you love a good athlete trope with all the juicy drama and chemistry, this one delivers. I was living for the tension, the romance, and the banter. The characters felt real, and I couldn't stop listening. Perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Highly recommend for anyone into sports romance—this one's a winner!
End Game is the first book in the new Kings of Campus series, and it was my first Monica Murphy book! (But I’m currently listening to my second!) I absolutely adored this book.
Nico is a reformed playboy who falls for his roommate. But “Ever” doesn’t give in easily. She’s a girl who doesn’t want to mess things up with the rest of their roommates, and tries her hardest to not give into her feelings for Nico.
This was just such a fun story, I can’t wait to read more Kings of Campus books!!!
Read if you like:
- Sports romance
- Grumpy x sunshine
- Bad boy x good girl
- Roommates to lovers
- Forced proximity
- Open door spice
- Reformed playboy
And the audio book was amazing too!!! J.D. Harris and Stephanie Rose were EXCELLENT!!
It's SOOOOOOO good!!!! Excuse me while I go listen/read every single other book Monica Murphy has ever written...
College football player that is a playboy lives in a house.
Broke college girl that needs a place to live.
This was a forced proximity by way of roommates. Premise was good but execution of the story wasn’t my favorite. Could be a personal preference and that’s not to say you shouldn’t give this book/audiobook a try.
I was excited to meet another football team from Ms. Monica Murphy. I always love her football stories!
Nico and Everleigh have a fun enemies to lovers vibe going on. When Everleigh is out of options and asks Nico and his friends if she can take their extra room, Nico is a little standoffish. It doesn't take long for him to fall for his new roommate though.
My heart broke for Everleigh as she is starting at this new school with no family support. She found her new family in this band of guys. Nico wasn't great to her a lot of the time as he was figuring his stuff out and she kept pushing him away because she was scared which didn't help. I was glad when they finally figured their stuff out and Nico was great in that!
I'm eager to see what this new series brings. Bring on the Kings!
I listened to the audio and I loved it! The narrators did a great job bringing these characters to life.
When Everleigh finds herself transferring to a new school and no where to live, she has one solid option, live with a group of football players. This makes for an interesting bond, she quickly befriends two, and starts to crush on the other. Don’t get me wrong on this 3 star review, I did enjoy End Game and I have always enjoyed Monica’s writing, this book was just very mellow for me. It was a cute college sports romance and if you love a slow burn where the reformed playboy falls hard and the friendship group brings everyone together this could be for you. For me Everleigh seemed a bit young and naive for her age and the story didn’t have much beyond these two living and crushing on each other, I needed a back story on the ex, or family drama or something extra lol.The narration brought this story together for me, Stephanie Rose and JD Harris narrate End Game in dual showcasing Everleigh’s soft and sensual voice with a bit of a rasp, making her sound confident and caring. I really enjoyed JDs voice as it was deep yet still showcased the college aspect of this story making Nico still seem young yet mature at the same time. I’m excited to listen to more from these narrators. I am though still interested in the next book and hopefully we will get Everleigh’s BFF’s story or one of the roommates.
Thank you Valentine for the opportunity to listen and Review.
One suggestion with Netgally, please don’t pause so long in between each chapter. Every single time I thought it paused.
End Game (Kings of Campus #1) is a forced proximity, sports romance.
This slow burn romance was a fun, entertaining read. Nico and Everleigh’s tension was high as they fought their attraction for one another. That slow build was perfect. I loved the connection Everleigh built throughout the book with all her roommates. Well written and I enjoyed the storyline.
J.D. Harris and Stephanie Rose did a really good job narrating this story and bringing these fun characters to life.
*Audio Book Review*
This was a decent start to a new series by Monica Murphy. The story it self didn't hold a lot of "big reveal" or angst type of drama to it...it was a rather sweet story over all. I did enjoy it. You cant help buy fall for all the characters in this book. They were well written and their personality's came shining through.
The narrators for this book are Stephanie Rose are J.D. Harris . They did well reading for these characters.
I was given an ALC to listen to and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
End Game is the first book in the Kings of Campus series. It is an alpha male, college football, forced proximity, slow burn romance. I really enjoyed the push and pull between Everleigh and Nico. This is a slow burn with so many feels and off the charts chemistry. I loved the friendships between all the roommates and cannot wait to see what we get in the next installment.
Stephanie Rose and J.D. Harris did a great job bringing this story and these characters to life.
I'll be honest, I kind of struggled with this one. I love Monica's books and her writing....
This is the slowest of slow burns. It's not quite the same formula as her other books. I enjoy college romance and this one has a roommate component to it. It was just missing something for me. Nico is kind of a giant baby. He did really redeem himself by the end. A nice grand gesture and he realized that he needed to straighten himself out. Everleigh was more than patient with him. She is a nutrition major and that's what I went to school for so that was really fun for me. I loved all of the other characters though and it seems like they might get stories too which I will greatly look forward to. This story is really well- written. I listened to it on audio and the narration was really good.
This was a fun and angst filled romance, it was a slow burn, roommates to friends to lovers.
I love all of the friendships that were formed, Everly is a sweetheart & the guys all brought her into their circle and friendships were formed.
Nico is not sure what to do with his emotions & feelings, but there is definitely chemistry between him & Everly, but he’s got a reputation and she’s a bit reluctant.
I enjoyed the story, and I’m looking forward to the next story.
Stephanie Rose & JD Harris did a wonderful job narrating this story.
ACL REVIEW: Stephanie Rose and J.D. Harris really brought Everleigh and Nico to life, once I started listening to this I couldn't stop. Nico is a character I personally loved, J.D Harris did a really good job as Nico and I really enjoyed him so much. This audio is definitely one that I will find myself listening too multiple times.
Monica Murphy has not only delivered another amazing book boyfriend in Nico but she has also delivered another amazing book that I absolutely loved! 10/10 loved this book!
Everleigh is in a new town to attend college, and she finds herself in a tough situation, so she doesn't necessarily seek the help she needs she kind of just finds it. Nico, Cooper, and Frank are just the ones to lend her that helping hand.
Everleigh or ever as some call her is definitely unsure how popular her roommates actually are in there college. Nico is definitely not the relationship type of man, but when he finds himself gazing at his new roommate a little too much he starts to wonder if this is a good or bad thing.
This story was defiantly a slow burn that my dark heart needed! This story was fun to read!
End Game is the first book of the Kings of Campus series, and I am here for all these characters!

End Game is the first book in the Kings of Campus series, and it was my first Monica Murphy book. This was a sweet, slow burn, roommates to lovers sports romance.
Everleigh just transferred to a new college, and things start off badly when she finds out her room is not available and she is homeless. She happens to hear some football players say they were in need of a roommate, and she offers herself up. Now, she is living with a group of sexy college football stars, but she is only drawn to the playboy wide receiver Nico. They have a connection that they both try to fight for a while since they are roommates.
I really enjoyed the banter and chemistry between these two. Nico frustrated me sometimes since he was afraid of commitment and definitely didn't treat women with respect. However, he did have some growth and started to think about how he has acted toward random hook-ups in the past after he starts to fall for Everleigh. I was dying for them to finally get together, and I was getting frustrated with how many times they almost go for it or got interrupted. This really paid off when they finally came together, and the chemistry was amazing. I do think the ending wrapped up a little quickly, and there was barely a grovel. I couldn't fully get behind Nico's character and didn't understand his behavior. He changed his ways a little too quickly.
I loved this group of football players and their whole dynamic. I am definitely interested in continuing the series for Gavin, Cooper, and Dollar's romances.

Book 1 in the Kings of Campus series
End Game brings the entertainment with a forced proximity college romance. New transfer student, Everleigh, needs somewhere to live and the only room available on short notice is a bedroom in the house full of football athletes. Nico has it all… the star of his college team, well loved by his friends and can get any girl he wants. But new roommate Everleigh may cramp his playboy ways, especially since he’s unexpectedly starting to fall for her.
The banter between Nico and Everleigh is wonderful., and we round out the supporting cast of characters with memorable roommates, Coop and Dollar. (Might we be seeing their stories soon)?
For a new adult college age book, I felt in some way the angst was missing. The author portrayed the male lead quite authentically for a college athlete. He’s a player who reluctantly didn’t want to give up his playboy ways, yet he can’t fight his attraction to Everleigh. So by the end of the book there is a happily ever after, however it felt more like a happy for now. And that’s not a bad thing. They both seemed young, meaning truly portrayed by the author as their college age. (most authors write college age characters who are much more mature in handling what life throws at them) And I didn’t get that sense they were going to have a forever relationship. But I was actually totally fine with it. I think sometimes the college books that have, the “fated mates” element like you’re-the-only-one-for-me-in-my-whole-entire-life-and-I’m-only-20-years-old” just doesn’t seem real. But people want to read that fantasy that every happily ever after will be that ever after. So, on the one hand, this book is refreshing because it didn’t, in my personal opinion, fall into that typical college romance.
This the first time hearing both Stephanie Rose and J.D Harris narrate. I really loved Stephanie as her portrayal of Everleigh. Her deeper male voice is really good. She also had a great variety of other voices, especially her friend Sienna who had that typical college age, sing song type of voice, that kind of boarders on annoying, which was perfect for the character. I quite enjoyed J.D. voicing Nico. He brings an easy effortless quality to the narration. His portrayal of the group athlete scenes with the male roommates sounded so authentic of how college age guys talk.
Overall, a great listen.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the audio. All opinions are my own.
End Game
by Monica Murphy
Narrated by Stephanie Rose; J.D. Harris
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and I loved the camaraderie between all the characters leading and supporting.
Stephanie Rose and J.D. Harris however really brought Everleigh and Nico the leading Characters to life, Nico is a character I personally loved, and J.D Harris did a really good job as Nico, and of course Stephanie Rose was amazing as Everleigh and all other characters. This audio is definitely one that I will find myself listening to time again when I’m in need of an easy going story!
Ok let’s get into this one .
End Game is the first book in a new series from Monica, the Kings of Campus. In this book the romantic focus is between Everleigh and Nico.
While I loved the camaraderie between all the characters. It was a lot of back and forth, ups and downs between Everleigh & Nico who were fighting the spark between them.
And although I was somewhat disappointed with that. I did enjoy it.
I love a good sports romance that has a connection between everyone, The kind that gives off good comrade vibes and tight relationships, and for sure this book has that connection with Nico and his teammates/roommates.
I Can't wait to see what's next for the rest of the guys mentioned in this story.
Everleigh is left in a lurch and was desperately seeking somewhere to stay, but when she hears some college guys talking about having a spare room she jumped at the chance. After working out a deal, she finds a new place roommates to three big burly guys!
Nico,Cooper and Frank Aka Dollar all football stars unbeknownst to her .
But Nico Valente
isn't really too happy with having a female roommate as they're trying to concentrate on football season but there's something about Everleigh that's different from all the other girls. As they live together, she's off limits and has friend-zone him when he wants to be so more than friends, it's getting harder to keep his distance. As tension continues to grow between them, feelings are starting to show even though both don't really want to cross that line where it could upset the balance between all four who lives together.
But Will they give in to their feelings in the end?...
Can Eveleigh trust Nico valente the ever perpetual gorgeous playboy?
Could Nicole want more than just a hook up with the sweet Everleigh?
It took such a long time for anything to happen between Nico and Everleigh beyond bickering and tension and this girl confused state as to whether she should be more with this guy.
Although this story was mostly angst ..
I would have liked for them to spend more time together as I wasn't convinced about them as a couple for most part of the book. (I could be wrong and wanted bit more spice and connection ).
My favourite parts of the story however were the friendships of the roommates and Cooper sister who had me rolling with laughter at her outburst during dinner. I also loved the way they became like Everleigh big brothers and how close she became with Cooper sister who I’m hoping to read her story!
Definitely recommend if you love

This is the first book in the Kings Of Campus series and my first book by Monica Murphy. I loved the tropes as it’s a college football romance where a girl named Everleigh finds herself living with 3 football players. The audiobook was such a light, cute and fun listen and made this story each to fly through.
While I loved the audio and narration, the storyline for this one needed more for me. It starts out so well and instantly grabbed me in but not long after I was missing a lot of conversation and build up between the Everleigh and Nico. There are a lot of their internal thoughts and just not enough development of their characters or their relationship for me. And I actually love a slow burn romance but this one had me questioning if I was reading a young adult romance as there isn’t any spice until literally the very end.
I will say, the audiobook completely saved this one for me! It’s a dual narration by Stephanie Rose & J.D. Harris, who were both new to me narrators. J.D. had the perfect younger tone to his voice for this college football player. He has an amazing range of female voices that he uses as well, from a soft feminine tone for Everleigh to a higher pitch voice for other side characters. I loved this range to his voice which made the audio flow smoothly from chapter to chapter. Stephanie has such an enjoyable sing-song tone to her voice which captured Everleigh’s personality. Together they were both so easy to listen to and honestly are the reason I saw this book through to the end.
Rated 3.5 Stars
I quite enjoyed End Game. There was angst and drama. It was also cute and sweet with a bit of steam. I liked the cast of characters and the set up for this story, however, I wished the romance had developed quicker between Everleigh and Nico. Other than that this was a pretty good read. The narrators had such pleasant voices that made it so easy to listen to so much so that I practically flew through it. I found this to be an enjoyable read and I'm most definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
