Flowers returns with another cold case/missing person-based story!
In the Missing Half, Nicole “Nic” Monroe is struggling to thrive. She still lives in her hometown in Indiana barely making ends meet and still very much grieving her sister who disappeared years ago. This starts to change when the sister of another missing woman approaches her out of the blue and states she might have information. Suddenly Nic finds her questioning everything she thought she knew about the case.
It's a thriller, and it's paced well. I would have to say the reveal was just not for me (can't think of a way to explain more without potentially ruining it for you!). The sophomore effort from Flowers is decent, but I look forward to the next ! #randomhouse #ashleyflowers #themissinghalf
Thanks for this ARC. I was SO excited to be able to get to read this one. Ashley doesn't disappoint and I enjoyed this book more than her first! It was a quick read and tied up quite nicely at the end, albeit it not super "rosy". I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for an ARC of The Missing Half.
This was a fast-paced, easy read that I finished in less than 24 hours. The main character felt relatable and the storyline kept me guessing. Although I shouldn't necessarily call it a traditional happy ending, the plot was tied up nicely by the end.
4.5 stars
Thanks to Random House and NetGalley for the ARC. Flowers never disappoints. Superb domestic suspense. Highly recommend.
I enjoyed this book but didn’t like it as much as her last one. It is a good read for anyone who enjoys the amateur sleuth trope. Good ending.
The ending 🤯!!
Nicole and Jenna both have sisters—Kasey and Jules—who vanished in the same unsettling way: their cars left with the engines off and doors open, never to be seen again. Jenna seeks out Nicole, hoping to find a connection between the disappearances that may have been overlooked. But as they dig deeper and uncover long-hidden secrets, the search becomes increasingly dangerous. Is a serial killer on the prowl, or is something even darker unfolding?
Thought I had it all figured out, I was totally wrong! A gripping thriller. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest opinion.
I definitely thought I had this figured out quite a few times, but was absolutely floored by the twists. Couldn't put it down!
I absolutely love Ashley Flowers. Her first book blew me away and I knew I HAD to get this one. This one is SO GOOD. I was completely hooked, and totally thought I knew everything and BAM turns out I knew nothing.
Absolutely enthralling.
Thank you for this ARC copy, NetGalley! I decided to give Ashley Flowers a second chance, I greatly disliked her first book as it was just a fan fiction of a real life crime. This novel, however, was its own story and I appreciate that. I didn’t see the ending coming, it was a good read
Ashley Flowers is an amazing writer. I loved All Good People Here and the Missing Half was just as good.
Nic lost her sister Kasey seven years ago and has never recovered. When Nic gets a visit from Jenna, whose sister Jules also went missing they decide to work together to solve the mysteries of their sisters disappearance.
The character development, backstory and unexpected twists made the Missing Half un-put-downable. I can't wait for her next book. Highly recommended!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
The Missing Half was the first book I have read by Ashley Flowers, though I am familiar with her Crime Junkie podcast. The book is the story of two women whose sisters vanished from the side of the road seven years ago. They start reinvestigating the cases, and you really see the aftermath of what happened to their families. The chapters were short, and the twist ending was surprising and well done. Highly recommended.
Definitely a twist I did not see coming! I did like how this book was fast-paced and never lost momentum. I also liked how flawed the main character was, and how she portrayed what life could be like after someone you love goes missing. I did really like Ashley Flower’s first book a bit more, as this one felt shorter and a bit less developed overall. Will recommend to many!
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read the arc of this book early!! I absolutely love Ashley flowers and am so excited to have been able to read this! The whole beginning of the story you think one way and then towards the last third of the book everything changes! I was shocked and did not expect that ending AT ALL. Way to go Ashley! I could not put this book down. Please continue to put out novels!
I don’t have words for that ending. The final moments of this story were truly moving and well written. I enjoyed Ashley’s last book but this one was on another level. What her last book had in complexity, this one had in heart and overall the pacing, intrigue, and characters were more well rounded in this book. I cannot wait to get another Ashley Flower’s book in my hands. Grab this with both hands and don’t let go. You’re in for a ride.
I thought this was a really great read. There were some great twists, and I truly was not expecting the ending in the slightest.
