I’m sure this book did great without me. I chose it based on Faber’s reputation, but wasn’t into all the religion and futurism....the world is experiencing enough real natural disasters, I don’t particularly feel like reading them as plot devices.
Thanks Crown Publishing and netgalley for this ARC.
Don't understand all the hype about this book. didn't finish
This book took me a long time to read as I kept getting library books pop up as available. It was a long read anyway but a very interesting idea. On reflection, now I'm done, it doesn't feel like a lot happened plot wise but still an interesting story.

On the fence with this book. The writing held my attention but too much was left unfinished and unanswered in my opinion. The ending was a major let down.
Love, distance, loss and faith were addressed but in a mighty long winded fragmented manner. Theological, scientific issues were plentiful but opportunities to delve in deeper were missed time after time. No closure if you will.
You are immersed in Peter's head - mostly his struggles with failure to communicate with his wife. Their unbreakable bond, the ability to complete each others thoughts and sentences tested and Peter fails miserably. Distance does not make Peter's heart grow fonder, he falls along the lines of out of sight, out of mind. Communicating with his wife becomes an unwelcome chore and their connection a distant memory. Peter is easily distracted and his thoughts become mundane. Peter should have been fleshed out more and his daily experiences and life on the planet expanded upon, this could have provided clearer insight into Peter and his thought process which was anything but deep.
The anticlimactic somewhat lazy ending butchered my enjoyment. Good but disappointing at the same time. Too much of narrative left unrevealed and untidy.
