Elle is an ex-con on the run for years after her brother died and she was robbed of some important family heirlooms. But when she sees someone wearing a piece of jewelry that she’s sure is one of hers, she can’t resist inserting herself in the life of the woman to try and recover what is rightfully hers. Olivia is in some big financial trouble which she keeps hidden from her husband in order to pay for fertility treatments and pay off her father’s blackmail. Meeting Elle and having her appraise her jewelry (and replace it with fakes unbeknownst to her) has given her hope and an anchor in her chaotic life. The two start a side hustle of replicating rich friends jewelry under the guise of appraising and cleaning, but when the secrets start piling up it becomes impossible to continue without coming clean in order to pull off their biggest con yet - one that would give them indefinite security.
I am an outlier in my review of this one - all my friends over at Thriller Book Lovers: The Pulse were obsessed and I found this one to only be okay. I didn’t love the audio, I felt the narration was too similar and found myself confused as to whose POV I was hearing. I’ll take partial blame on that one as I almost always multi-task when I’m doing audio, however, I don’t feel like it should be difficult to distinguish narrators and/or characters.
The story itself wasn’t bad. I like a revenge plot, I like a partnership where you can’t quite trust the other person and things get convoluted. MLM’s usually make for interesting subject matter as well, but I don’t know. Something just didn’t work for me.
This would be a fun buddy read / book club book as it offers a lot of room for conversation and “what would you do?” questions that are always fun to discuss in group settings.

Many thanks to Netgalley for the e-arc!
So I loved the premise of this book but it fell a little flat for me. I couldn't keep track of the two separate POVs but I liked how fast the audiobook went. Will definitely check out other books by this author.

This was just the suspense I hoped for after a run on a few romance reads in a row. It was such a twisty thriller with all the lies, and themes of friendship, and I thought it was a great debut!
I listened to the audio format which had a dual narration by Meg Price and Imani Jade Powers.
*many thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review

Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read an early copy of this book. Book was fine but I really was expecting more from it.

I love strong and empowered women.
I wanna start by commending this author. Knowing this is her debut novel makes this that much more impressive! The prose and story-telling is insane and the way everything flows is so smooth and kept me reading. I love the overall premise and the execution was done perfectly!
Our main characters were so different and yet so similar. I adored the friendship and connection that was formed and was rooting for the both of them the entire time.
I did have a few issues with the ending and that is why I am unable to give a 5 stars but so so good!
Thank you to the publisher for the arc through NetGalley! All opinions are my own honest opinions.

Actual Rating 2.5
This work is an okay mystery with some low-stakes suspenseful portions. I liked the premise and the incorporation of the jewelry aspect, which was probably my favorite part of the book. The work is told from dual POVs and multiple timelines.
The biggest thing that didn’t work for me in this one was the characters. They were both quite unlikeable for very different reasons but were also unrelatable and quite difficult to sympathize with. This made for a bad combination, one which ended in me not really caring what happened to them either way, making the book lose a lot of tension. There were many dumb decisions made, and a lot of just being too oblivious/dumb, especially in Olivia’s POV. There was no real mystery when it came to the plot points in Olivia’s POV, they were painfully obvious, and I don’t know how she didn’t figure out most of what was going on half a book before she did. The secondary characters were weak and blended into the background, adding nothing meaningful to the book
Something else I disliked was how many sexual situations (consensual and nonconsensual) came up in this book. Elle was always trying to get some, and then of course there were the “bad guys” who were acting r*pey regularly. It just didn’t work for me.
If you like straightforward mystery/thrillers that are slow, then you may enjoy this one. Unfortunately, I found it somewhat boring, especially since that character connection was lacking for me. My thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I can’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t particularly care for this book, but maybe it was the subject matter. It’s basically as if Oceans Eleven was based off of an MLM scheme.
Two women breach the trust of many and each other over and over again. I guess I felt it repetitive.
I also couldn’t keep up with which character was talking throughout the audiobook.
I think some folks will really like this book, because it veers away from the typical subject matter, unfortunately this one wasn’t for me.
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook early and write an honest review about it.

I thought this book sounded interesting. The book lost its appeal as it went on. I didn't really connect or care about the two main characters. I enjoyed the two narrators telling this story.

I thought the premise sounded interesting and was intrigued right away. Unfortunately, the book kind of lost it's appeal as it went on. It felt very repetitive at times and a little too long. I also didn't really connect or care about the two main characters. There is a good twist and the alternating POVs was good. I really liked the two narrators telling this story.

"Between Lies and Revenge" by Hannah D. Sharpe is general fiction and a bit of thriller. I liked this book because of the clever tight plot. It is told in two points of view which alternate. The beginning of each chapter tells who is talking.
I listened to the audiobook, which is 11 hrs at 1.0 speed. There are two narrators, Meg Price and Imani Jade Powers. Each one tells the story of one of the lead females. They are both excellent, but unfortunately, their voices are pretty similar, and I was pretty confused until after 50% of the way through.
So the story is about Elle and Olivia, who go into business together, selling, appraising, and fixing jewelry. Both have hidden secrets about their past. Also, Olivia really wants a baby, and she is in a lot of debt.

This book was definitely a hit for me! 😍
Something that is always a win for me is a debut author that really demonstrates their ability right from the beginning. I truly believe that we are going to see great things from Hannah Sharpe and that Between Lies and Revenge is just the beginning.
This had a little bit of a cat and mouse feel to it; not too obvious, but you knew there was a bit of a game that was being played out throughout. And I really, really enjoy books with multiple points of view, so that was another winning attribute to this book, especially with the dual narration.
If you are looking for an absolute page turner that is impossible to put down, I wouldn't say this is the one. However, if you are looking for a bit of intrigue, mystery, and more of a slow burn, this one is for you.
I am rounding up to 5 stars because there is never a half a star rating on these things.

What an amazing debut! I did not realize this was a debut until after finishing this book. The plot, pacing, character depth and growth, background story, supporting characters, everything was so thoroughly planned out and portrayed perfectly. This was excellent, and I would absolutely recommend it.
Thank you to Hannah Sharpe, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for this advanced copy.

This was a good book for a debut author. This book is told from two perspectives, which I loved. The two narrators befriend each other and are lying. The characters are developed really well and I really enjoyed the plot.

This book took me a little bit to really get into the story. I felt like I kept getting the two main characters confused. I’ve heard such amazing things about this book, so maybe it was just the audiobook.
After I hit the halfway point in the book I was hooked. As all the twists and turns were finally connecting made the story really come together for me. I really loved Elle’s sassy personality. The strong relationship that Elle and Olivia formed was such a high point this book!

3.5 stars An ex-con Elle is on the run when she sees a woman wearing one of the pieces of jewelry from her own stolen inheritance. She uses her skills of gems to build a long-con and get back what is hers.
Olivia feels Elle comes at the perfect time in her life to help her with money. She is keeping many secrets from her husband and needs money to help. She gets involved in a con with Elle until she realizes Elle may be conning her also. The twists were high with many fun reveals. I loved the secrets of everyone involved and the endless schemes.
If you love mysteries with female friendships then this is for you!
🎧Audio review: Megan Price and Imani Jade Powers did a great job with the voices. It was so nice having 2 female voices to easily tell the POV apart. They did great with the cadence needed for mysteries!
Thank you to @ and @ for the copy! The book released September 3, go check it out!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and publishers for the ARC audiobook!
It was such a a twisty ending and I loved it. Who doesn't love a good female revenge story?
Elle befriends Olivia, who has her dead brother's necklace and plans to do anything to get it back. Olivia is running from her past, but Elle wants to be a mother.
The chapters kept you so interested and at the edge of your seat.
I had a little trouble telling who was who from the audio but maybe it was just me.
But this is a DEBUT?! Because it's 🔥 and the cover is so pretty!

3.25 Stars
I enjoyed the twist, but the story didn't fully captivate me; it felt like a standard mystery/thriller.
***Thank you to NetGalley, Hannah D. Sharpe, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

3.3
I can't say the reading experience wasn't...okay...but, now that it's over? I'm absolutely wondering what the point if putting myself through that was.

Elle and Olivia, two very different women from very different walks of life, are thrown together when Elle spots Olivia with something that is hers and plots to get it back. Olivia appears to have a perfect life but as Elle gets to know her and peels back the many layers of her life, she realises that there is more to Olivia than the facade she presents to the world.
I really liked these two women, especially Olivia, and the premise and storyline were really interesting. I felt the pace slowed in the middle part of the book and I found my attention waning, but it picked up again towards the end, with some brilliant twists and reveals.
The narrators, Meg Price and Imani Jade Powers did an excellent job at bringing the two women to life.
3 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Hannah Sharpe and Dreamscape for an ARC in return for an honest review.

3.5 rounded up
TL;DR: Jewel thieves, con artists, unhappy marriage, infertility, happy marriage, dead brother, MLMs, lies and more lies, and some sweet revenge.
Elle is a lifelong con artist, scrappy survivor, and jewel expert. Olivia is in an unhappy marriage to a controlling asshat, struggling with infertility, and racking up debts to keep up appearances with her wealthy, MLM-crazy social circle. The two women strike up an unlikely alliance and form a plan to swap Olivia’s frenemies’ real jewels with fakes to pay off Olivia’s debts and help Elle regain her inheritance and get revenge on the people who stole it.
THIS WAS WILD! Such a fun audiobook with excellent narration. The middle was a little slow for me, but I loved where the story went and how everything turned out. Highly recommended for fans of First Lie Wins and Stone Cold Fox and anyone who loves a dual POV story with loads of twists and turns and surprises along the way.
