Forewarned was a quick and fast paced read packed with magic, steam and wonderful characters. It kept me entertained. The narrator's voice was pleasant to listen to. She did a good job of bringing this story and characters to life. I enjoyed listening to her. While I did enjoy this book I found the use of modern language a bit jarring and as a result it took away from my overall enjoyment of the story. I found the ending to be abrupt but I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I listened to this as an audiobook and it’s not super long, so I finished it all in one day! (I also tend to listen on 2x.) Initially, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this one, but that feeling very quickly passed. I really enjoyed the main characters together and was really eager to see what would happen between them as the book moved along. It ended on a crazy cliff hanger! I can’t wait to read the second book when it comes out in October! Definitely wish it was on NetGalley so I could request an ARC! 😍 Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me the opportunity to listen and review!

I was excited for this book based on the description and was looking forward to a short, enemies to lovers, spicy book. Unfortunately, I struggled with the modern language (shadow daddy...) and the fact that this was insta lust/love (not enemies to lovers at all). The audio book narration came off very juvenile, which along with the modern language and not particularly smart FMC, made the content come off a little uncomfortable. I also think the range of vocals for the male characters suffered.

Thank you for allowing me to hear this book!

So, as an avid reader of fantasy and a sucker for the fae world I was curious about this book and I liked it.
The world building it’s not as complex as we read in other books with the same premise.
It’s not really an enemies to lovers but something more like a strangers-trying-to-know-if-they-can-trust-each-other to lovers.
The romance, although it provoked butterflies in my stomach, is a little bit rushed and the plot seems superficial at first but in the end revelations are made and boy… I think I won’t stop thinking about this until I read the next book!

2.5 stars. My favorite part about this was the narrator. She really did the work.
The story itself is clearly reminiscent of Sarah j. Maas’s work, with a sprinkle of tangled. It was odd.
It was predictable and you have to not look too closely at the plot cause it’s hardly there, but it was a very fast read and I was entertained.
I would be interested in continuing the series because that ending, omg.

Forewarned by Chantal Fernando is a enemies to lovers romantasy with all sorts of creatures. This story follows Astrid, a seer and healer that wants nothing to do with her mate. While this book was pretty good overall, it did miss a few things I really like to see in fantasy books. I loved the world the author created. I did struggle with the authors writing style at times because it felt like the narrative told me what I see instead of showing me, if that makes sense. There was a disconnect that kept me from immersing myself in the story. The characters were all very unique and deep, except for Astrid. She just had too much going on for me from the very beginning. She was too perfect, too sweet, and too wanted by everyone she came across. She didn't show much character development either which is a must for me. I did really like the audiobook narration. The narration was done by Anne Robert and I really enjoyed her voice for this story. Despite these things, I did find it enjoyable overall and recommend giving it a try if you're looking for fated mates, vampires, fae, and more.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was like the second book of ACOTAR but with a bit more of a hallmark movie touch to it. This is a fast paced fantasy with fated mates, kingdoms, and poverty to royalty aspects. I wouldn't say this is enemies to lovers, this is more disagreed upon people to lovers, they were never really enemies. Still the characters have great angst between them. This is a kingdom of fae style fantasy with the kingdom at war with a vampire empire. In this fantasy world we have shifters, incubi, witches, fae, humans, mermaids, and vampires so its actually really great to see one of the higher fantasy romance books with a lot more of the fantasy creatures included. Over all the story moves quick, keeps you interested, and makes you want to know what happens next. Plus they gave us a strong female MC not a damsel in distress, which is always a win for me. The only actual con I had was the end, I know why the events that happened needed to happen but the WAY they played out didn't make sense to me and felt like a rushed event. BUT I'm still going to read the next book and see where we go from here cause everything else hooked me.

This book was a thrilling and seductive dive into a world of fated mates, shadowy magic, and some seriously spicy scenes. The concept of fated mates has always intrigued me and is a classic I adore! Fernando does an excellent job bringing that tension and connection to life, especially with the twist of all the brothers being mates with the protagonist—talk about a shocker! The shadow daddy adds a deliciously dark and mysterious edge to the story, perfectly complementing the world’s unique magic system. The spice level is off the charts, so those who love their romances steamy will not be disappointed. Overall, this book is a fantastic mix of magic, passion, and unexpected twists that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

I received this ARC audiobook thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley!

This book was fun to read and felt like I was diving into a fantasy soap opera with each chapter. Was it an action packed epic adventure? No..but it also wasn’t trying to be. For the first in a series, this book did everything it should: introducing the world, giving us an understanding of each character and setting the tone for what drama we can expect in later books. Without getting into spoilers, I kept feeling like there was something I was missing and there had to be more to the story…and let’s just say the last 20% of the book really delivered. I was pleasantly surprised the sequel is already out and have already downloaded it to my Kindle.

Finished for the second time, this time on audio and loved it just as much!

ALL THE STARS for this one! Excellent fantasy book. I should have known, her first fantasy book would be astounding. This author has never disappointed me. These characters are everything. Strong fmc and a sexy, dominant shadow daddy. So many twists and turns and a shocking cliffhanger ending. If you like fantasy, don't miss this one! Dang, I can't wait for the second book!

I devoured this book easily. In this enemies-to-lovers, fated mates story, Rave, Prince of Shadows has to win over stubborn Astrid who knows exactly who her mate is and wants nothing to do with him. Fate has a way of telling who the boss is because she ends up at his doorstep (garden birthday party?) in an attempt to save her brother-like friend from death.

There was great character building when it comes to the history of the mythical creatures and their beef. A lot of interconnective storylines. Side characters had some interesting things to say. Every detail seems to be made with intent. The plot is giving. Spice level:🌶🌶🌶🌶

Astrid is a Seer, which is super rare and highly sought after since they can see visions of the future and other cool tricks, she is secretive and barely uses that side of herself. This makes me believe that Astrid has multilayers that she is not even aware of. I hope that in the next book, more light is shared on who Astrid is, her heritage, and her powers/abilities. Rave, her fated mate, had it correct when he said that there was no doubt that she would be the most powerful in this couple.
Speaking of hot, moody shadow-daddy, I loved his character. Watching him desire his true mate was enthralling. I like Astrid, want to trust him. My favorite part was when Rave chuckled about her being his Karma and the reader finding out why 🌟😏

A war is underway, lots of secrets, and confusing visions I can’t wait to get the next book in the series.

Tropes include:
Strong MFC
Impending War
Enemies to lovers
Fae/Paranormal creatures
Possessive MMC
Fated mates
Side characters with ulterior motives

Thank you to NetGalley for being able to listen for my honest review.

Forewarned has all your favorites: ends on a cliffhanger (how dare you and also give me the next book asap), mated fae, touch her and die, spiceee, shadow daddy, etc etc. A fun ride that will leave you wanting more.

Vampires and Fae Highborn and Incubus, oh my! We're not in Kansas anymore folks.

Book 1 of FATED LOVE, this is a GREAT first installment to a new Romantasy Series. I received this audiobook ARC thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media, and it immediately sucks you in, absolutely love this fantasy world building.
Astrid has been running from place to place with her handsome best friend, August for years. They find safety and comfort in each other in a world were Fae are destined to bond with a single mate that is pre-destined.
Astrid knows who her mate will be, and she will do anything to avoid the bond.
He happens to be one of the Fae princes and is well known for his shadow powers and sketchy behaviors.
Inevitably she encounters Rave, the Shadow Prince, but not everything is as it seems.
Astrid's feelings, powers and mated bonds are not as expected, and as she is pulled into the world of the Royal Court, many secrets are revealed.

I knew nothing about this story going in, and I recommend doing the same. It ends in a pretty big cliffhanger, but good news, the second installment is available on KU and paperback, while the audiobook is still awaiting release.
I'm jumping right into the second one....bye!

World building done right. Chantal Fernando knows how to build a world and develop characters that make you want more. The story is filled with everything I expect from a romantasy. My only gripe is book two isn't out on audio yet. I'm invested in Rave and Astrid's journey and need to know what happens next.

Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Forewarned is a fated mates romance with a sprinkle of fantasy. There's a LOT of spice throughout, serious touch-her-and-die vibes that at times come across purely controlling. It was instantly engaging though, and I read it in one day. This book reminded me a lot of Lola Glass's Never Touch a Dragon, and if you enjoyed that, you will love this one too. Fans of Sarah Maas who read for the "plot" and not the actual plot will also get a kick out of this quick read.
Overall not much happens plot-wise over the course of this novel. It's an enemies to lovers but still kinda enemies with low character development. There IS romance and drama and a winged Shadow Daddy. Our girl, Astrid, desperately needs a best female friend throughout this novel, and I really hope she gets one in the next novel.
Anne Robert did a great job with narration for the audiobook.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audio copy!

Listen any book with a Fae male with wings is an automatic yes for me.

Fated mates, all of the fairy tale characters (fae, witches, vampires, etc), not to mention a WAR brewing between the fae and vampires. What could go wrong

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an ALC of this novel.

Who doesn't want to read a book about vampires, fae, shifters, and incubi? I know I do. Forewarned is book one in the Fated Love series by Chantel Fernando. I honestly don't know if I could write this review without spoilers! Just go read this book! It does end on a cliffhanger.
The narrator did an okay job; she was telling the story at a slower pace than I normally like. So I went from a 2x speed to 2.5x speed, and it was perfect for her voice.

I received this audio as an ARC. (What a TRUE honor)!!! I LOOOVE Chantal, so giving this review is my absolute pleasure. (I'll also be making a Booktok post about it this weekend).

Fantasy, suspense, spice, light angst and lots of fun!! This book has a lot of characters, but it's very easy to follow and the world building is **chef's kiss** perfection. The pace of the book keeps you gripped. With raging ADHD, a book really has to grip me pretty quickly, and this book definitely did that. I listened in 2 sittings, and was so upset to reach the end. But also, that cliffy at the end?? Y'all!!!! I can't wait to devour the rest of this series!

Chantal is one of 3 authors that literally got me back into romance years ago, so getting an ARC from her was a literal dream come true for me. However, none of that affects my review, I'm honest above all else. I truly loved it. 5 very enthusiastic stars!!!!
