I really like the idea of a town of witches hidden from the world. I like Olivia and her background and how she grows as a character. Draven has such a journey to make as he learns his mother was a witch and working through his anger and loss.
The narrator of the audio book is good.
This rom-com was spicier than I expected. There are multiple descriptive encounters between Olivia and Draven. The descriptions border on vulgar.
I liked the story surrounding these encounters. I would have liked less spice.
Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to Magic in the Air.
A cute premise with a city full of witches and magic. In comes a non magic person looking to uncover what it is all about (and of course he is handsome). It was a predictable but cute/fluffy read but didn’t blow me away.
A few things that stuck out to me:
-Her kid likes him immediately?
-They get together REALLY fast, we see mostly physical attraction, and then they love each other within what seems like a few weeks? FYI there’s a good amount of spice.
-Magic is cute though there wasn’t a ton of actual magic that gets performed
Narration: all read by one person for all the voices. It wasn’t my favorite narration and I’ve listened to a lot. Some parts I just couldn’t tell whose POV it was immediately because the spoken word voices were clearly different but the in between narration was the same.
Note: I received this ARC audiobook through NetGalley.
Loves the fmc, hated the mmc, and he sis not grow on me as the book went on. What redemption are, where? Also WTF you mean she apologized to uim!? For what!? The premise was so promising but I couldn't get around him

I was looking forward to this book having a dual POV but then there was only 1 narrator and I was disappointed. On top of that, I feel like every 5-10 minutes the FMC would bring up her disability or the fact that she was a single parent. I don't mind a disability. In fact, I love it but when you have to constantly bring it up to remind me, I feel like you as the author aren't doing a good job.
This book wasn't for me but I am sure that others will like it.
I really wanted to love this one, but the narrator was really hard for me to get past. I didn't vibe with their cadence well at all.
This story was so fun and exciting to listen to! I really enjoyed the story! It was so fun to read about a main character who shares the same culture as myself and it made it feel that much more special! Olivia deserves the world and I loved reading about her new journey in love! Such a great fall read and it made me so excited for autumn and the chilly mornings where I can enjoy a cafecito and some pan dulce just like the characters did in the book! Love it!!

I keep trying to like contemporary small town witchy romances, and it keeps not working out. I thought this one would be different because Latina main character with disability (cerebral palsy), which isn’t the typical fare. Unfortunately this still could not hook me and make me invested. From the introduction of Draven, I was side-eyeing him in a bad way and couldn’t root for him. I can see him having redeeming qualities but his motivations were just…not to my taste. There’s also some weird consent stuff with Olivia’s spelled baked goods that sits uncomfortably with me. All this to say, this book just is not for me.
Thank You, NetGalley for the ARC. This book was cute, I’m grateful it didn’t have any actual spells in it because that always makes me nervous. Also glad the 3rd act breakup wasn’t a breakup and more than just a few pages!

I love a fluffy fall read set in a small town but I do think the main character had just one too many things going on (disability, foster system, and a witch). The main guy communicating that he thinks magic broke up his family? Like huh. Then the insta love? Nahhh not my thing
ARC REVIEW 📚🥰⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this opportunity to read this book. I loved the audiobook. This book comes out Sept 17 of this year. For my Gilmore girls/ spooky fans this is a must. I loved that Olivia runs a bakery in their small town that is a sanctuary for witches. She is a strong Latin witch with cerebral policy and to me I loved seeing that representation. She built this sweet little life for herself in a town where everyone cares about the other until Draven James enters the story. The perfect life she had comes crumbling down as he slowly starts making his way into the picture. Looks can be deceiving as she falls more for him the more you learn more about the secrets he's been hiding. Highly recommend
***Three Witchy Stars***
There is nothing I like less than rating a book less than five stars but every once in a while it just has to be done. I'm actually not sure if I need to do 3 or 4 stars on this one. It's not the story, it's the narrator. I'm just not feeling it and the different voices made it difficult to get through this book. Okay, it's the story too. The story just felt so dang awkward and it was hard to follow who was saying what, the inflections felt off and in the wrong places. Overall, it was an average read for me. Which seems weird to say. I don't like not loving a book.
Both mc are full grown adults. One is a single mom, who was adopted and is living with cerebral palsy. The other is a single man whose mother just passed away, no kids, no attachments. When his mother passes he finds out she was a witch who lost her power when she decided to share it with his father. It was a no-no so the coven stripped her power, the husband took off because he wanted magic and now he couldn't have it. The son is now out to get revenge so he moves to his moms home down to try and catch the other witches out and expose them through his journalist job. The fmc is suspicious of why he is there and now they're all lying to each other and trying to be sneaky.
Narrator: The narrator chosen for this audiobook was a good choice. She did a good job of voicing multiple characters and telling the story.
Story: This audiobook wasn't for me. There was little to no plot and the last hour could have been taken out. The story had potential. The characters were likable and the magic brought something to the story. I just felt there were missed opportunities to include more about Cerebral Palsey, the characters could have been given more depth and the more build up.
Thank you netGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook.
Just finished listening to Magic in the Air by Adrianna Schuh! This book was so cute, and the perfect fall cozy read!
I felt like I was transported to Addersfield, Rhode Island. Where I could visit Olivia’s little bakery and pick myself up a magical treat!
I also loved how Olivia, our main character, has a disability. It’s something I’ve never seen so openly written about in fiction books so it that wad a nice change of pace!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!!
I really enjoyed this book!! It was so cute and the spice was great!! I enjoyed the setting and all of the characters!
Olivia Ayala is a witch who grew up not knowing it. Between that and her cerebral palsy, she had a tough life before finding the magical town of Addersfield, Rhode Island, and forming her new family. Now, she'd do anything to defend it, even doubt her instincts and attraction to the handsome new stranger who she's sure is not telling the whole truth. Draven James arrives in town on a mission to avenge a wrong done to his mother, but the town is nothing like what he imagined and Olivia is making him want to forget revenge and enjoy life. Can the two find happiness underneath all their secrets?
I'm giving this one forward-leaning 3.5 stars because it's a great idea and has some good moments, but it felt like Schuh was shoehorning drama into a story that didn't need it as much. I got the feeling that both Olivia's and Draven's trauma was getting pushed on me as if I had forgotten about it after a few chapters especially since there are some great moments of finding joy in little things and family and friends that I would have loved to get more of instead of the drama.
Otherwise, it's a fun story with lots of little nuggets to enjoy and some very steamy fun. Olivia is a little neurotic at times, but it's totally understandable for her to be like that and it makes her letting loose with Draven even better. Meanwhile, Draven is a little too good to be real even with his secret motives, but he's perfect for Olivia and lots of things are forgiven in romance when it works for the story.
The narration by Stacy Gonzalez is solid, with characters being super easy to tell apart and emotions coming through nice and clear. I love it when you can tell who's speaking just from the narrator's tone.
Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the fun read/listen!
This was an interesting read. I enjoyed the inclusivity of the characters. The story line was great and it
Has the perfect amount of spice!
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. I was excite about reading this book. I love the cover and since it is getting so close to Halloween I have been trying to find novels to get me in the mood for spooky season! But this one just fell flat for me.. I was half way through and honestly nothing has happened. I don't mind the main character or a character in a book to have a disability, but it is mentioned over and over and over and over. The story goes on and on about the two main characters back story instead of moving forward. I just found the writing boring and young adult. Sorry it was a miss for me.
Many thanks to Adrianna Schuh, Rising Action Publishing, and NetGalley for granting me this ARC.
I put in for this book because to be very honest I am sick of summer. It's been a particularly rough summer and I've been reading fall-ish books to really get me in better spirits and get me into the Spooky Season mood.
This book seems like it would be a super fluffy rom-com based on just the vibes of the cover, but there's some challenging topics inside. I really liked to see the representation of a Latina living a very beautifully fulfilling life as a single mom, with a business, and magic powers while navigating a life with Cerebral Palsy. Olivia does not live her life wanting to jump into a relationship after the father of her son ditched her because she is a witch. I understood and fully respected every time Olivia said there was something about Draven that she just didn't trust. I found myself annoyed with Draven for the chip on his shoulder, but I also understand what it's like to be a grieving child that has just lost a parent. The story flows nicely, but is in 3rd person which isn't my favorite.
🤎 I do not rate the quality of the spice (though I enjoyed it), but there is a definite spice factor that hits about halfway into the story. The spice does not overwhelm the story and is not the main focus.
Spice Scale
〰️ No romantic plot
🤍 A small amount of romantic plot is present, but doesn't get past declarations of romantic tolerance/like/love with at most little kisses and hugs.
💚 There is some light spice, but closed door
🧡 There is mildly descriptive spicy scenes, but they are finished very quickly and could be easily skipped over.
🤎 Spice is present, very descriptive, but doesn't overwhelm the plot.
🩷 There is a plot, but there are quite a lot of descriptive spicy scenes.
💜 Plot? There's just enough to get to the next round of spicy times.
This novel is a witchy small town story with cozy vibes. The protective nature of the small town, found family aspects, and magic use for good things only were nice touches. The disability and cultural representation added to the story.
It was hard to find the relationship with the MMC to be believable - they fell too fast and it seemed like he was attracted to her just because of her magic. His betrayal seemed too big to be forgiven that quickly. They began their second chance at their relationship by deceiving her son after promising to be honest. The spice was ok but did not add much to the storyline.
Narration: Each voice was distinct and easy to follow.
I was given a copy by the publisher via NetGalley (thank you!) and all opinions are my own.
As someone who doesn’t primarily read fantasy, i’m always pleasantly surprised when i have a good reading experience with a fantasy book. This was definitely one of those experiences.
I really enjoyed the magical aspect of this book, it wasn’t a super in depth magical world so it was easy to follow and understand. I did also enjoy the romance. I would have enjoyed more angst and tension built up during the first portion of their relationship, but i still enjoyed it.
I felt the narration really added to the story over all. During the entire listening experience, I didn’t want to stop listening. I enjoyed the characters and their growth.
Please check trigger warnings if you’re planning to read as grief and abandonment are major themes in this book!
