I wanted to love this book, but... it just didn't hit.

A random journalist arrives in a magical town he shouldn't be able to find. A local witch is rightfully very suspicious of him and can tell he's lying, but all the other local witches encourage her to ignore all the red flags because a town elder with some future sight, senses they will be important to each other and because "she hasn't gotten laid in a while".

She asks him on a date partly because she finds him hot and partly to get answers since he's super supicious. He confesses he's here to investigate the witches because his dead mom was a witch and they get busy even though he's been lying this whole time. Both of them are apparently head over heels after one night in bed, though they've until now only had like 4 tense 5 minute interactions.

She then stupidly tells him ALL of the towns secrets and puts everyone and the town magic in danger since he has some not very well developed grudge against the town.

After he almost ruins her life and the safety of everyone she loves, she instantly forgives him and even apologizes for ALMOST hurting him, like a huge doormat idiot!

And I'm left feeling like she needs therapy because after years is foster care its clear she never learned her self worth. He definitely didn't deserve her and should have at the very least groveled...

3.5⭐
This book has all the fall vibes. The scenery and premise are perfect for a cozy Halloween read.
I loved the found family and the sense of small-town community. I enjoyed Olivia's character. She is strong, loving and she cares so deeply about her closest people. She has made a great life for herself and Daniel, despite the curve balls that life had sent her way.
The thing that bothered me in this book was how after Draven said some bitter things and revealed his ulterior motive for being in Addersfield to Olivia She took him back no question. He didn't properly apologise nor grovel.
But other than that this book is a good and fast read.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC audiobook.

This was a sweet and spicy autumnal cozy and witchy read.

It follows the FMC Olivia Ayala, who has had a harder start in life overcoming being left for adoption and dealing with cerebral palsy and being a witch. She finally opens her heart to her first love , who rejects her after finding out about her magic, leaving her a young single mum and with lots of trust issues around her magic.

However, nearly 10 years later, she has overcome that and now runs her own bakery with her best friend in Addersfield, Rhode Island—a sanctuary for witches since 1697. Her and her son Daniel have found a family and a home here. All is right in the world , until our MMC comes to town.

Draven James , is dealing with the student death of his mum and after reading through her journals finds out she was a witch. As a journalist he vows to head to this magical town and expose the witches there. Until he meets Olivia and falls her under spell.

This story covers a lot of harder life topic , but with grace and empathy. No one is perfect and we all have our own insecurites and trauma but finding people to love and accept you fully. I thought the author dealt with topics such as grief , adoption and disability in an honest and refreshing way.

Highly recommend this read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for providing me with an ALC of this novel.

Reading the synopsis, I felt like this would be a fun, cute book to start off spooky season! This book was so cute and innocent and then there were these random spicy scenes thrown in that felt jarring compared to the innocence of the remainder of the book and the story. And the author could only describe a woman’s lower anatomy as cunt.

I should’ve DNF’d but I turned the audio on 2x and managed to finish it. The story was completely rushed and the characters were saying I love you after like 2 dates? Also he barely apologized for acting like a total asshole and she still said she loves him? Then proposed like 2mo after that?

A singel mom Latina witch with cerebral palsy. This book is so enchanting. Finding love and keeping her family and magic safe.

I absolutely love this book.
Reminded me of my all time favorite practical magic. The magical, love, found family vibes.
Oliva is such a great character. Draven too. I loved all the characters from Malcom and Jill. There relationship made me laugh. And we all have a Jill as a best friend. But rosa as the matriarch of the "found magical" family. I couldn't stop listening to this book. I grew up in new mexico eating tamales, enchiladas, homemade salsa and it was just a nice little feeling of home I felt while listening to this book. Adrianna's writing was absolutely phenomenal. It flows so perfectly making me feel as though I'm right there. I got sucked into this story. It gave me all the feels. I was giddy the whole time. I love the town (adler) and the magic within it. This has become my top favorite reads of the year. And one of my top witchy books of all time.
I will recommend this book to everyone.
QUOTES I LOVED:

•What words were worth A moment when time stood still

•You are a dream I never knew I always wanted♡

Good fall read, blending the cozy comfort of a bakery with a sprinkle of magical romance. Olivia is a baker and a witch. Olivia's life is transformed by a touch of enchantment, weaving a story that's heartwarming. Perfect for curling up with on a crisp fall day, this book offers a blend of romance, magic.

I really like the idea of a town of witches hidden from the world. I like Olivia and her background and how she grows as a character. Draven has such a journey to make as he learns his mother was a witch and working through his anger and loss.
The narrator of the audio book is good.
This rom-com was spicier than I expected. There are multiple descriptive encounters between Olivia and Draven. The descriptions border on vulgar.
I liked the story surrounding these encounters. I would have liked less spice.
Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to Magic in the Air.

A cute premise with a city full of witches and magic. In comes a non magic person looking to uncover what it is all about (and of course he is handsome). It was a predictable but cute/fluffy read but didn’t blow me away.

A few things that stuck out to me:
-Her kid likes him immediately?
-They get together REALLY fast, we see mostly physical attraction, and then they love each other within what seems like a few weeks? FYI there’s a good amount of spice.
-Magic is cute though there wasn’t a ton of actual magic that gets performed

Narration: all read by one person for all the voices. It wasn’t my favorite narration and I’ve listened to a lot. Some parts I just couldn’t tell whose POV it was immediately because the spoken word voices were clearly different but the in between narration was the same.

Note: I received this ARC audiobook through NetGalley.

DNFed:
I was looking forward to this book having a dual POV but then there was only 1 narrator and I was disappointed. On top of that, I feel like every 5-10 minutes the FMC would bring up her disability or the fact that she was a single parent. I don't mind a disability. In fact, I love it but when you have to constantly bring it up to remind me, I feel like you as the author aren't doing a good job.
This book wasn't for me but I am sure that others will like it.

I really wanted to love this one, but the narrator was really hard for me to get past. I didn't vibe with their cadence well at all.

This story was so fun and exciting to listen to! I really enjoyed the story! It was so fun to read about a main character who shares the same culture as myself and it made it feel that much more special! Olivia deserves the world and I loved reading about her new journey in love! Such a great fall read and it made me so excited for autumn and the chilly mornings where I can enjoy a cafecito and some pan dulce just like the characters did in the book! Love it!!

I keep trying to like contemporary small town witchy romances, and it keeps not working out. I thought this one would be different because Latina main character with disability (cerebral palsy), which isn’t the typical fare. Unfortunately this still could not hook me and make me invested. From the introduction of Draven, I was side-eyeing him in a bad way and couldn’t root for him. I can see him having redeeming qualities but his motivations were just…not to my taste. There’s also some weird consent stuff with Olivia’s spelled baked goods that sits uncomfortably with me. All this to say, this book just is not for me.

Thank You, NetGalley for the ARC. This book was cute, I’m grateful it didn’t have any actual spells in it because that always makes me nervous. Also glad the 3rd act breakup wasn’t a breakup and more than just a few pages!

I love a fluffy fall read set in a small town but I do think the main character had just one too many things going on (disability, foster system, and a witch). The main guy communicating that he thinks magic broke up his family? Like huh. Then the insta love? Nahhh not my thing

ARC REVIEW 📚🥰⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this opportunity to read this book. I loved the audiobook. This book comes out Sept 17 of this year. For my Gilmore girls/ spooky fans this is a must. I loved that Olivia runs a bakery in their small town that is a sanctuary for witches. She is a strong Latin witch with cerebral policy and to me I loved seeing that representation. She built this sweet little life for herself in a town where everyone cares about the other until Draven James enters the story. The perfect life she had comes crumbling down as he slowly starts making his way into the picture. Looks can be deceiving as she falls more for him the more you learn more about the secrets he's been hiding. Highly recommend

***Three Witchy Stars***

There is nothing I like less than rating a book less than five stars but every once in a while it just has to be done. I'm actually not sure if I need to do 3 or 4 stars on this one. It's not the story, it's the narrator. I'm just not feeling it and the different voices made it difficult to get through this book. Okay, it's the story too. The story just felt so dang awkward and it was hard to follow who was saying what, the inflections felt off and in the wrong places. Overall, it was an average read for me. Which seems weird to say. I don't like not loving a book.

Both mc are full grown adults. One is a single mom, who was adopted and is living with cerebral palsy. The other is a single man whose mother just passed away, no kids, no attachments. When his mother passes he finds out she was a witch who lost her power when she decided to share it with his father. It was a no-no so the coven stripped her power, the husband took off because he wanted magic and now he couldn't have it. The son is now out to get revenge so he moves to his moms home down to try and catch the other witches out and expose them through his journalist job. The fmc is suspicious of why he is there and now they're all lying to each other and trying to be sneaky.

Narrator: The narrator chosen for this audiobook was a good choice. She did a good job of voicing multiple characters and telling the story.

Story: This audiobook wasn't for me. There was little to no plot and the last hour could have been taken out. The story had potential. The characters were likable and the magic brought something to the story. I just felt there were missed opportunities to include more about Cerebral Palsey, the characters could have been given more depth and the more build up.

Thank you netGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook.

Just finished listening to Magic in the Air by Adrianna Schuh! This book was so cute, and the perfect fall cozy read!

I felt like I was transported to Addersfield, Rhode Island. Where I could visit Olivia’s little bakery and pick myself up a magical treat!

I also loved how Olivia, our main character, has a disability. It’s something I’ve never seen so openly written about in fiction books so it that wad a nice change of pace!

Olivia Ayala is a witch who grew up not knowing it. Between that and her cerebral palsy, she had a tough life before finding the magical town of Addersfield, Rhode Island, and forming her new family. Now, she'd do anything to defend it, even doubt her instincts and attraction to the handsome new stranger who she's sure is not telling the whole truth. Draven James arrives in town on a mission to avenge a wrong done to his mother, but the town is nothing like what he imagined and Olivia is making him want to forget revenge and enjoy life. Can the two find happiness underneath all their secrets?

I'm giving this one forward-leaning 3.5 stars because it's a great idea and has some good moments, but it felt like Schuh was shoehorning drama into a story that didn't need it as much. I got the feeling that both Olivia's and Draven's trauma was getting pushed on me as if I had forgotten about it after a few chapters especially since there are some great moments of finding joy in little things and family and friends that I would have loved to get more of instead of the drama.

Otherwise, it's a fun story with lots of little nuggets to enjoy and some very steamy fun. Olivia is a little neurotic at times, but it's totally understandable for her to be like that and it makes her letting loose with Draven even better. Meanwhile, Draven is a little too good to be real even with his secret motives, but he's perfect for Olivia and lots of things are forgiven in romance when it works for the story.

The narration by Stacy Gonzalez is solid, with characters being super easy to tell apart and emotions coming through nice and clear. I love it when you can tell who's speaking just from the narrator's tone.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the fun read/listen!
