Another wonderful tale from the corridors of Whitehall and the Black Widow. Given a second chance because the men under Mrs. Dove-Lyon insist that was the cost of war for this particular gentlemen. Then given a third chance because of his friends. He rescues her before her time is up.
A wonderful read and interesting tale that involves other familiar names from other novels. ( if you’re a fan of this author) But not necessary to read the others novel to enjoy the book. It’s wonderful all on its own.

Alec has suddenly and unexpectedly become the Earl of Stansbury and now must find a wife before the scheming mothers of The Ton trick him into a marriage he doesn’t want. Kit must marry soon or she will lose her inheritance. She needs to find a husband who will allow her to access her money to continue paying for her mother’s medical care. Both Alec and Kit enlist the help of Mrs. Dove-Lyon. Will this be a match made in heaven or will they fail Mrs. Dove-Lyon’s matchmaking tests?

Alex is a military man who lost his ability to serve after an injury. The pain and frustration he experienced dealing with his injury was handled well by the author. I felt really bad for him. He has a fear of something that plays a role in the story. I am glad the author included the fear as the story because it humanized the character. Kit is typical of her time. She needs a husband in order to do anything within society including access her own inheritance. There are multiple men vying for the right to marry her but none of the courting or decision-making is in her hands because she has hired Mrs. Dove-Lyon. There is a bad guy in this story. He does not play a major role. It was nice to go back to the world of Mrs. Dove-Lyon. The author showed readers more about the people that are a part of her organization.

This is a story that takes place in London in 1815. Both characters are grown adults with family and societal issues. The story is very much focused on the couple. There are characters from other stories that make appearances. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

Lieutenant Lord Alec Quinton gets a 2nd chance at love and to win his bride at the Lyon's Den. He 1st appeared as a competitor for Adelaide's hand in "Captivated By The Lyon." His fear of hights ruined his chances and threaten to do it again. Lady Catherine Huntington needs to wed by her 21st birthday or she loses everything, and she's tired of meeting fortune hunters, Her aunt strikes a bargain with Bessie Dove Lyon, but time is running out.

I really enjoyed the story, the connections to other books and the support for returning military was a bonus. The relationships between the characters was honorable and strong. The pain of losing a limb and others internal scars was handled with care and respect.

I'll continue to read this series. The books are always enjoyable and always end with an HEA.

A Hero Gets His Match

Quinton might have angered Mrs. Dove-Lyon, but the lady has a soft spot for military heroes. She gives him a second chance. When Quinton sees Kit, he knows he will marry her, but there are challenges ahead. Quinton is a wounded hero, with scars on both the inside and outside. Will the woman who caught his eye and captured his heart care about his wounds? Quinton will face his own insecurities, but he also has others who vie for the lady’s hand. One of them is a villain. Does love overcome these challenges?

This is a lovely story, and Kit and Quinton are a delight. I recommend this book to those who like Regency romance with wounded heroes, I look forward to what this author writes next.

Loved, loved this story in so many ways. It was great to see familiar characters from C. H. Admirand's Duke Guard Series included in this story. Another aspect I was totally happy to see was Alec getting a second chance at love after losing one of Mrs. Dove-Lyon's challenges.
This is Alec and Kit's love story, and what a journey we went on with them. Alec thinks he is unloveable due to losing a leg at the Battle of Trafalgar. Kit must marry before her 21st birthday or lose her inheritance which she needs to take care of her Mother!
I wish I could give this story more than 5 stars!!!

I always enjoy the trips into the Lyon's Den world, especially with an author who I know will give me more than just a romance.
Our hero in this one is a badly wounded Naval hero who has recently come into his title. Our heroine needs to marry before her birthday. She is not the type of Lady society aproves of.
The Black Widow is really cruel to our hero with the task she sets him to win his lady.
This is an action packed story with a little nod to characters from other books by this author. There is a lot of emotion, and friendship that will endure for a lifetime.
I loved it.

Terrific book. I was so happy to see Alec get another chance at finding love after losing one of Mrs. Dove-Lyon's challenges. Unlike many of the other defeated contestants in her contests, Alec is a good man and deserves his chance. I ached for him and everything he has gone through. He was forced to retire from the Navy after the Battle of Trafalgar when his injuries resulted in the loss of part of his left leg. In another blow, his fiancée cried off. Because of that, he seeks a marriage in name only. I especially loved his commitment to help other returning veterans.

Kit needs to marry before her twenty-first birthday or lose her inheritance. She needs that money to take care of her bedridden mother. She tried the usual route of Society balls, but she'd rather be in the country with her horses. This unconventional attitude and tendency toward direct speech limit her desirability in Society's eyes. All she wants is a marriage in name only and the opportunity to be with her horses. Her aunt makes a deal with Mrs. Dove-Lyon to find her a husband.

Alec and Kit first encounter each other during the Lyon's Den masked ball. They are immediately drawn to each other. Alec does something that gets him banned from the Lyon's Den before he can uncover the mysterious lady's identity. Fortunately, with the aid of two friends, he convinces Mrs. Dove-Lyon to give him a second chance. His biggest obstacle is to win the challenges set up to win Kit's hand - challenges that involve his greatest fear. I loved his determination and how he faced those fears. Kit fell quickly for the man who saved her from a drunken patron but had no idea who he was. She was thrilled when she discovered he would be one of those vying for her hand.

I loved their quick connection. They are open and honest with each other, which goes a long way toward achieving their happy-ever-after. Though both looked for a marriage in name only at the outset of their journey, their growing feelings led to the decision to make it real. I ached for Alec, whose injuries have made him wary of trusting someone with his heart. Kit won my heart with her love and acceptance in an emotional scene on their wedding night. Not everything is sunshine and roses. Alec and Kit must contend with a sore loser in the marriage competition who is bent on revenge.

I loved the characters' appearances from the author's other series and previous books in the Lyon's Den. The seamless inclusion of those such as Captain Coventry and members of the Duke's Guard are always fun to read.

A bit of adventure, some societal mishaps, and a great love story. I love the characters, especially the cameos from other books. It's a wonderful tidbit to know some of the connections, but the story is not dependent on having read the others. I highly recommend reading anything and everything by CH Admirand.

The Lyon’s Saving Grace by C H Admirand is a moving story about two people who have given up on love only to find it at the Lyon’s Den. Lieutenant Lord Alec Quinton, sadly, returned from the war missing the bottom half of one of his legs, but he returned to an inherited earldom and a seat in the House of Lords where he intends to advocate for returning veterans. He needs a wife, but intends for it to be a marriage in name only until he meets a masked woman at a masquerade ball at the Lyon’s Den. Because of his behavior in trying to discover her name, he is banned from the Lyon’s Den. Knowing that is the only way to find her he appeals to several of his friends to convince Mrs. Dove-Lyon to give him a second chance. As those men are working their magic with Mrs. Dove-Lyon, their wives are working it with Catherine (Kit) who is the lady in question and was mightily attracted to the dark man she had met there. Then he discovered she needed to be married withing two days, a fortune depends on it, and just what the challenge for her hand would be would be.

Stubborn puts it mildly when referring to Alex Quinton, Earl of Stansbury. Minus a leg, he can still climb and will if it kills him, which it nearly does. But, it was a match meant to be and thoughts of a marriage in name only fly out the window when they meet after the challenge. Admirand can always be counted upon for a terrific novel and this one is no different. She writes compelling characters and good plots. It will have your heart spinning as this match comes to fruition. Thanks, Ms. Admirand.

I love historical romance and the Lyons Den. Kit and Alec were made for each other. Alex is a disabled vet and Kit knows nothing of taking care of a household, but she loves horses as does Alec. They have some trouble from a suitor from the Lyons Den. There's some danger but a very HEA.

I really liked this well written instalove, marriage of convenience romance. It has a touch of suspense, a bit of steam, endearing main characters that I already knew from previous Lyon‘s Den books and a number of very likable supporting characters that I also was familiar with from the author’s Lyon‘s Den books and the Duke’s Guard series. I especially enjoyed the openness between the couple, the comradeship between the veterans, how Kit dealt with Alec’s injury in an open, compassionate way, how Alec faced the challenges despite his fears, and how Alec’s friends and his valet supported and protected him.

Years ago, Lieutenant Lord Alec Quinton lost half of his leg at the Battle of Trafalgar and was subsequently abandoned by his fiancée. When his older brother dies and leaves no heirs of his own, Alec becomes the newly minted Earl of Stansbury and must marry to fill the family's finances. He has no intention of entering the marriage mart, so he decides to enlist the help of the Black Widow of Whitehall to find him a wife for a marriage of convenience only. But his first attempt to win fails because of his fear of heights. With the support of his friends, he is given a second chance. During his next visit to Lyon's Den, he meets a young woman and falls head over heels in love with her., newly minted Earl of Stansbury

Lady Catherine „Kit“ Huntington is unconventional and too direct for society. She loves spending her time with horses and doesn't want a husband or children. But Kit has to get married quickly to receive the inheritance she needs to support her sick mother. So she hires Mrs. Dove-Lyon to find a man who will agree to a marriage of convenience. On her last visit to Lyon's Den, Kit instantly fell in love with a suitor for another match and when she now suddenly finds herself face to face with him, she hopes that he is vying for her.

Alec and Kit must now decide whether they want to have a real marriage despite their own insecurities and the previous contract terms...

All in all, a sweet love story with lots of endearing characters and a sweet happy ending that I am happy to recommend!

WOW!! Another great Lyons Connection story. Mrs. Dove-Lyon's has a soft spot for war veterans so she is already to make sure that Alec is given a second opportunity to succeed. In the meantime Kit only has a small window to marry, claim her inheritance and help her sick mother. There are wagers, duels, friendship and unkindness all wrapped up in this story that also has a lovely ending to it. Well crafted characters with lots of depth that the reader will come to love and sympathize with. Each author who participates in this series brings such a wonderful uniqueness to each story. I recommend picking this up and enjoying a beautiful story.

I love the way in which every author who participates in the Lyon's Den Connected World is able to bring a fresh aspect to the series. I enjoyed the main characters in this novella as they both have to work hard to earn their right to be together. It was love at first sight, but the Black Widow really makes it difficult for them. Lady Catherine, known as Kit to those who love her, is running out of opportunities if she is going to be wed in time to receive her inheritance and one can only wonder why her aunt was being so spiteful. Alec, on the other hand, has faced disappointment, on top of being left handicapped after a grueling war. He and Kit are perfect for each other, although there is a third party who Is not at all happy with the developments. Despite some suspense, the novel comes to a sweet conclusion and is a standalone. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lieutenant Lord Alec Quinton gambled and lost in the Lyon’s Den. But Mrs. Dove-Lyon grants him a second chance. Forced to retire from the Navy when an injury leaves him with one and a half legs, his pride takes a second hit when he returns home and his fiancée cries off. His dream is to breed horses but then his brother dies & he becomes an Earl. Lady Catherine Huntington’s widowed mother is bedridden, and her aunt has struck a bargain with the Black Widow of Whitehall, but time is running out. She must marry by her twenty-first birthday, or lose her inheritance and the ability to pay for her mother’s care. She has three days.
another lovely addition to the connected Lyon’s Den world. I loved Alec & Kit’s story, they fell for each other but would he succeed in the challenge & would his adversary give up? Bessie is back to her best, characters from the author’s other books make appearances. A well written page turning romance

Thank you NetGalley for this lovely story. Lt. Quinton has come home from the Navy having lost part of his leg in battle. He finds himself becoming Earl and needing a wife. Lady Catherine better known as Kit has lost her father suddenly and his will means she needs to marry soon. Of course the Matchmaker can help them but Alec has to play one of her games. Kit has been attracted to Alec and he to her. One of the other men is a poor loser but with the help of Alec's friends the man is made to fight a honorable duel, well mostly. But the couple can find happiness.

A Page Turning Read
It is love at first sight for Alec and Kit but both have asked the Black Widow for a marriage in name only and both have flaws that they believe make them unacceptable to the opposite sex. Bessie does not make it easy on the pair to make a match and a disgruntled suitor nearly ends things before they can begin. Read this book to find out how things unfold.

Wagers, Duel, Friends:
Quinton severely wounded from the war and now retired from the navy is struggling with his injuries. He's emotionally distraught and his outlook on life is dismal to say the least. He needs to secure a marriage for now needs an heir.
The Lyons Den ball tonight might bring him the opportunity to find him a marriage of convivence.
Spotting a young, masked lady with smoldering brown eyes captivates Quinton right away, but then she disappears.
Now the hunt is on and Mrs.Dove Lyon is summoned to help him find that particular lady for she has captured Quinton desire.
This turned out to be a delightful and captivating story. The characters had such a good rapport between them it made this a joy along with a very happy heartfelt ending.
💖Favorite character: Reeves, a war veteran and Quintons faithful valet who brought much joy to the story.

“The Lyon’s Saving Grace”, by C.H. Admirand, is a quick historical read, with likeable characters falling instantaneously for each other despite the marriage of convenience.
I loved the passion and honesty between Quinton and Kit. Although it’s a love at first sight story the intensity of their feelings is lovely.
The hero is a man’s man, stoic, yet compassionate. Wounded in body and mind, Quinton is aware and supportive of his less fortunate comrades.
On the one hand, Quinton is afraid of his different body’s visual impact in Kit; on the other hand, he’s performing unimaginable stunts, climbing stairs two at a time, kneeling...
Kit is a likeable heroine, with her indomitable spirit and authenticity.
Overall, I liked the story and the characters, although I had some trouble keeping track of all.
There is a lot of conversation, proclamation of feelings and swapping of compliments, some of these happening not only within the romantic couple. It seemed redundant sometimes.
I felt the author could have invested instead on the build-up of the romance.

Finally! Our hero Alec Quinton gets his story! I adored how he and Kit’s relationship bloomed so quickly and so thoroughly! It literally just leapt off the page. I loved how they were so very honest with each other up front. (So many times , it is the lack of communication that gets couples in trouble) Seeing or hearing from characters from other stories was fun and seeing Mum get back to living was heartwarming. A quick, slightly steamy read with plenty of “sigh” moments. Adored it!

I received the book for free and these are my own opinions
