What a humourous book. Not my usual genre but pleased I read it. Just what you need to put a smile on your face
Thank you for the opportunity to review
I liked that this was a SUPER quick read. This book is filled with many essays if you will. All random but pretty entertaining. Nothing extraordinary.
Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Want to laugh? Get this book; this is the perfect book to take to the bar, grab a drink or a snack, and this book. You will laugh because the stories are short and have images; it's pleasant, like an ice cream cone on a hot summer day. This book is a treat!
I was at dinner and made someone else read the story of the car, and we both ended up laughing for a couple of minutes. That is how good this story is—short and funny. I would recommend it as a night read to disconnect and laugh.
What a brilliant idea and I’m amazed at the stretch and detail of recall the author has, including his more cringey moments that most of us try to bury deep in our subconscious. Life does tend to throw some seriously odd coincidences and moments you can’t quite believe happened so to collate them in one place must have been very rewarding and satisfying. There are also a great number collected here on a wide range of subjects.
Pretty much all of the memories are short and snappy so easy to read and to dip in and out of the book in bite sized chunks. The actual subject matter was a little bit more hit and miss for me, some I kinda felt were ‘I guess you had to be there’ moments or had some / most of their appeal as they’d happened to the guy himself and therefore lost a little in translation reading them about someone else. A bit like hearing the retelling of someone else’s dreams maybe? The fact that, as I say, the extracts are short helped with this as the ones that weren’t my cup of tea. Outdoor be glossed overall and moved on from quickly. It was definitely food for thought and entertaining and I’m now challenging myself to think of a few of my own
My thanks to Moco Press and NetGalley for a copy of “ I Swear This Actually Happened To me !” For an honest review.
This was an ideal book to dip in and out of .It was entertaining and I enjoyed reading it, even though I did question if some of the events did actually happen to him , but he definitely has the” gift of the gab”, and tells a good story !
Nice easy read.
It’s not quite as entertaining as the author’s preface touts it to be but I agree it is a great book to dip into for the odd amusing story. The story of animal cruelty towards a turtle put me off very early in the book, however, and this may have influenced my openness to the remaining stories.
