(4.5) Bromberg is quickly becoming a new fav author of mine. I’ve been devouring her F1 romances and I devoured this one too. Rich workplace hate-to-love vibes all throughout. I loved the dual POV and I loved the workplace setting. Getting to be inside both characters heads was definitely key to this story so I am grateful for that. It’s drama drama drama and I was hooked so dang quickly. I was NOT expecting this to end how it does and now I’m intrigued as heck for book 2 to come out. The writing is well done and the story is quick paced with enough going on in the background to make this longer story work really well while also giving us a good chunk of romance and steam. Bromberg did a fantastic story of creative a multi level romance story full of twists and secrets with room for so much more as the series develops. Big fan!
The ultimate revenge romance.
Absolutely sucked right into this story. There wasn’t a moment I wasn’t wanting to know what was going to happen. Holden is a forceful, fierce, morally gray MMC who has a heartbreaking past. Rowan is a woman determined to be more than the mold they made for her. She needs a little bit of push. A little bit of support. It coming from Holden wasn’t in the cards. Their attraction and relentless quarreling make their relationship so much more absorbing. Book 2: I need you now!
I did the audiobook, and I loved both narrators. They did such an amazing job. Holden’s narrator has an amazing voice. During the emotional points, it was just such a great job.
**Audiobook Review: "Twisted Knight" by K. Bromberg, Narrated by Victoria Connolly and Patrick Zeller**
K. Bromberg's Twisted Knight is a captivating tale that, unfortunately, leaves readers hanging with a cliffhanger ending. While this open-ended conclusion sets the stage for a continuation, it also leaves me eager to dive into the next book to see how the story unfolds.
Bromberg's ability to craft emotionally charged and intensely intimate relationships is evident in this novel. From the raw moments in the office to the passionate encounters, she expertly captures the full spectrum of intimacy. The audio narration enhances the experience, making the story even more immersive and captivating.
Victoria Connolly and Patrick Zeller deliver outstanding performances as narrators. Their portrayal of Rowan and Holden is spot-on, bringing their characters to life and making it easy to connect with their emotional journeys. Connolly's narration effectively conveys Rowan's internal struggles, while Zeller brings out Holden's complexity and depth. The chemistry between the characters, especially during tense moments, is palpable thanks to the narrators' skillful delivery.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley to listen to and review; all thoughts and opinions are mine.
3.5 ⭐️ Rounded up for GR. This was my first K. Bromberg book and I enjoyed it. I love a good romance with an actual story and this one is very intriguing if not drawn out a bit. It’s on the longer side and felt like it unnecessarily dragged in parts. It follows Holden, a man with mysterious background and new money in town who plans a majority buyout of Rowan’s family business, unbeknownst to her as a part of a revenge plot. Her family is pretty much society royalty in their town and Rowan tries desperately to understand this man as she attempts to hold onto her family’s business. Throw in family drama, tortured pasts, secrets, lies and deception, oh and lots of spice and you’ve got the plot of this book. I am excited that this will be a series and can’t wait to pick up the next book. I am so glad I knew it was a series going into this read otherwise I would be screaming into a void because there is no HEA in this one.
This was an audiobook read for me, Victoria Connolly was great, her interpretation of bad ass Rowan was really well done. My biggest complaint comes from Holden, read by Patrick Zeller. I did not like his chapters, he was so broody and breathy and overall entirely too dramatic for a man to my liking. I think if I had read this instead of listening, I would have liked Holden a lot more. Not looking forward to his future audio performance unless he can tone down the theatrics.
Also, I don’t think the title and cover accurately describes the vibe of this book. It makes it seem more dark romance or fantasy and it is none of those things. So don’t judge this book by the title or cover.
Read this if you like:

Thank you to MacMillan Audio and Netgalley for this advanced listeners copy in exchange for my honest review. This book comes out September 24, 2024. Get this on your TBR now.
This is a great new series by K. Bromberg, the author of the popular Driven Series. I am a fan of Bromberg and her writing style, and was so excited to read this new romance series from her.
This story focuses on the the Rothschild family, and the death of the matriarch of the family spirits drink business. Rowan, who loved her grandmother is dealing with the fact that she is no longer there, and trying to get control of the family business she loves, and stop her brother from destroying it. The Rothschild family name symbolizes wealth and power in their community, and they have used this name to hide a number of bad things.
Rowan is caught off guard when she finds out a stranger she meets briefly is about take over her family spirits business. Bromberg does a great job with the enemies to friends to enemies plot twists. I enjoyed reading how Rowan navigates her job, family, and her lust for Holden Knight..
It is also clear that the Rowan's intelligence and business aptitude has been overlooked by her family and friends because of old views on the role of a professional woman.
Buckle yourself in for the ending! What a great cliffhanger, and I am so looking forward to the sequel of this book.
Thank you Net galley and Macmillan audio for the opportunity to review this arc. I highly recommend.
Highly recommend for fans of K. Bromberg and romance lovers.
It was okay, not great. To me this was very forgettable didn't hold my attention and made me not want to read more from the author but the narrators were great which is why I rated it a 3 star.
I received an ARC from NetGalley & Macmillan Audio. Twisted knight by K. Bromberg is the first in the Tangled Hearts series. This office romance, enemy to lovers has spice and the audiobook will have you experiencing some hot flashes. Let me start by warning readers this is a “to be continued “ story. We do not have a conclusion to this story something I wish I had known before devouring this steamy romance.
The story follows Rowan and Holden as they navigate their attraction to each other while each pursuing opposing goals.
As a daughter of a wealthy family, Rowan is encouraged to give up this foolish dream of working for the family business. She is a delicate woman breed for marriage and children. Instead of the office she should focus her efforts on getting married, joining the gardening committee or shopping. I will give the author credit she wrote the patronizing male chauvinism very well- the condescending attitude and how everyone in her family including her mom dismissed Rowan’s ideas was quite frankly hard to listen to. The urge to punch was strong in those moments. Ignoring everything her family and society was telling her,Rowan started working for her family business now too bad for her, her brother won’t take her seriously and let her help.
And then there is Holden- let me say this the name has at least now been slightly redeemed in my eyes. After catcher in the eye all Holdens were mistrusted. And although this Holden is morally grey and has a secret I found myself rooting for him. Holden grew up on the poor side of town-working as server in those same country clubs that Rowan’s family patronize. Several years ago after suffering a tragedy he left town vowing to come back and have his revenge. The first step in getting that revenge,- buy Rowan’s family business.
The story ends at a mayor cliffhanger fraught with a lot of misunderstandings & secrets still not revealed. I’m really hoping for a HEA for those two.The steamy scenes were really well written and well performed by the Narrators Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connelly.
Overall I’m happy to give this book 4.5 stars.⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️. I’m taking .5 off because I didn’t get my HEA. If you’re looking for me I will be in front of my computer refreshing the authors website looking for any hint of release date for the next instalment.
Holden Knight might just be my new book boyfriend. I listened to this in audio as an ARC and I enjoyed listening to the male and female narrators. They both portrayed their POVs so well. In some parts I felt they did it to well. They made me feel like I was watching a show and I had to stop what I was doing because I was caught off guard.
Just how he tackles tasks and stays above board is enchanting. But when his grip starts to lose focus and get distracted he becomes even more interesting.
Rowan is the strong FMC who is love to have as a bestie. She isn’t perfect and she knows her faults. Her strength lies in knowing what she wants and she fights for it.
The ending had me grasping for more so I’ll definitely be looking out for the sequel. The flow of the audiobook really drew me in and added so much to the story. The book and storyline is amazing.
I would recommend this book in both book and audiobook format
This is by far my favorite book I’ve read in 2024 (93 books total so far)! This book has a good plot and just the right amount of smut to keep you invested and turning the pages for more! The back and forth between Holden and Rowan is done well for the enemies to lovers trope. The writing telling the agendas of both Rowan and Holden is amazing. I found myself cheering them both on throughout! The gradual reveal of Holden’s reason for revenge is so good!
The narrators for the audiobook (Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connolly) were great in conveying the emotions of each scene.
I was selected to listen to the audiobook ahead of the release date and I will be buying the hard copy and impatiently waiting for the next book in the series!
Notes on specific moments in the book:
1 hr 2 min: first slightly 🌶️ moment “thumb across bottom lip to wipe martini”
1:05:35 - Holden: “I’d opt for sapphires over rubies for you, they’re powerful, regal, confident.” Rowan: “They’d clash with my dress.” Holden: “Then change the dress.” 🫠
1:12:04 - Voice(Holden): “interesting way to phrase… a buyout.” - complete shock to Rowan!
1:13:48: Holden dismisses Rowan 😳🤯 plays into the “boys club,” taunts her
1:18:26 - Holden becomes majority owner - smug and condescending to Rowan (becomes her enemy, boss, 1st betrayal)
4:16 - loved Gran’s letter!!
6:26 - 😳🫠 ok Holden!

OMG!!! Her early birthday present!!!
That ending!!!
Oh this was good. Like, good good GOOD. Hostile takeovers, tragic backstory, office … steam, and one heck of a cliffy. Sign. Me. Up. Holden and Rowen are perfection together, even when it’s battling against each other. A definite recommend.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio for the free audiobook.
Immediate thought upon finishing: WHAT THE ACTUAL FORK??? I loved it but the ending???!!!! Are you trying to end me Bromberg?
In all seriousness, I really enjoyed this one - it’s Succession with romance, what’s not to love?! There’s revenge, scheming, and backstabbing with great banter and sizzling chemistry between the leads. I am eating it up and cannot wait for book 2!!
🎧: We get a different narrator for each of the POVs. Rowan’s is performed by Victoria Connolly and she does a great job. Holden’s performance by Patrick Zeller though is something else entirely. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a narrator that put so much emotion into their scenes — it’s fantastic. Highly recommend!
Jaw Dropping Cliffhanger!
I did NOT know (really wasn't paying attention) that this was book 1 of a series UNTIL IT ENDED!
I loved this story & NEED to know what happens next!
Publisher's summary
Kings of Sin meets It Ends With Us in a gritty, heated romance from New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg.
*Holden
They thought they’d managed to get rid of me once and for all. They thought I’d just forget what they did to my brother.
But I’m going to make sure that they never forget.
If only I can stop thinking about her.
*Rowan
No one sees me. Behind my brother, I’m a ghost, managing the family business that he claims to run. But I’m tired of second fiddle. I’m tired of pretending. I’m going to take what’s mine.
The only problem? Well, he just came back to town.

I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me an audio-arc in exchange for an honest review.
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. F. I didn't know this wasn't a standalone, but apparently NetGalley, the publisher and the author all came together to CONSPIRE AGAINST ME. WHAT KIND KF A CLIFFHANGER ENDING WAS THAT?! NOOOOOOOOOOOO
Okay. I'm cool. It's all good. My heart is broken. This was an enemies to lovers office romance with a revenge plot, and it was freaking AWESOME. But. BUT. It's not over. And the ending made me SO MAD because whyyyyyyyyyyy.
Holden is the bad boy, billionaire, CEO type of character. Rowan is the daughter of a rich family who has been overlooked because she's a woman and God forbid women were allowed to be strong (according to these rich families).
This was spicy, and fast-paced, and hot hot hot. I couldn't put this down. And the narrators made this book into something truly amazing. All around, great read.
“𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙚. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙛—𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙪𝙣 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨. 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙡𝙡 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙖𝙮.”
I was hooked to this one right from the start. The writing sucked me in, the story pulled me in further, and the tension and 🔥 was just right.
Rowan’s brother is selling their family’s company, without any input from her, because, you know, she’s a woman. (And they are a part of a very patriarchal, upper class community.) He is selling it to the mysterious, Holden Knight, her new enemy, who is also undeniably irresistible to her.
Meanwhile, Holden is secretly buying the company for…*revenge*…
The tension between these two was so good, and I loved their banter, especially when it got flirty. The slow build of their *feelings*, which they both very much did not want to get, was so sweet and schmoopy.
There was a slow unveiling of the reasons behind Holden’s revenge plot, and I felt his emotion and turmoil coming off the page during those parts.
But beware the cliffhanger! No HEA in this installment, but I am already dying to dive into book 2.
Audiobook Notes: Both narrators were fantastic. Special shoutout to Patrick Zeller for his emotional performance.
Thank you @macmillan.audio for providing me an ALC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Omg the grip this book had on me!! A delightful mix of modern day thriller, enemies to lovers, and messy family histories, plus past traumas that we carry with us.
I absolutely love both Rowan and Holden, but the fact that I have to wait until the next book to finish their story has me screaming. I can’t wait!
A beautiful story of breaking generational curses and learning how to love and trust again.
Extraordinary narrators.
Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillian Audio for this arc in return for my honest review.

Rothschild’s matriarch Grandmother (Gran)dies. Next comes the reading of the will.
The Rothchild’s children Rhett is the (golden child) and Rowan is the daughter who wants more out of life than marrying into her families circle of society. She has ambitions.
Charming Holden is the CEO of their company. He is wealthy and has his own motives with the Royhchild’s, but he may have met his match in Rowan.
Rowan Rothchild is Vice President of marketing of Tin Spirits, the family business. Debutante, college educated and considered the face of the business. Her mother wants her married to the “right” person and understands their position in town. Rowan wants to take over the family business.
The sexual tension is real! How can Rowan and Holden work together when their attraction is evident. Will they be able to keep their hands off each other?
Sexy, extravagant, deception, revenge, erotic, powerful and HOLY CRAP, what an ending! I can’t wait for the sequel.
Thank you MacMillian Audio for the gifted audio.

Okay sooo I need book 2 asap. It's dual POV, some flashbacks to the past, enemies to lovers, with a big twist. The narrators were great bringing these characters to life. I was cringing at some of the family interactions.. which is kind of the point. The way the last 10 minutes played out was NOT the way I was expecting. Really flipped the switch on that one.
(Audio)
Really enjoyed the book! They were truly enemies there for a while! And the love is palpable! If only there weren’t any secrets!!! I can’t wait for the second book, this one ends on a cliffhanger!
The narration was great. I wish it was duet style though.

What the heck was that cliffhanger 😭 I mean, I sorta saw it coming, but thought it would have been earlier and not where we're left wondering what the actual fffff. Really though, I loved the vibes between these two and the enemies to lovers to enemies aspect. There was a lot of intrigue and mystery surrounding Holden and I'm really excited to continue this series.
The audio was great. I really loved Patrick Zeller and Victoria Connelly and the way they brought Rowan, Holden and the rest of this cast to life. I can't wait to listen to book two!
It ends in a cliffhanger but it is so addictive and fun. The work rivalry is strong but so is the romance. I can't wait for the next book.
