BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Death's Successor' by Brad Abdul. .
This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the sequel to Brad's 'The Devil's Advisor', but can be read as a standalone.
LOVE, LOVE, ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS AMAZING EXPLOSIVE AND UNIQUE PAGE TURNER!!!
Wow!!! This book is fantastically written and had me hook, line and sinker from beginning to end. The descriptions were so in depth and vivid that the hair on my arms was standing on the ends and my heart was pounding throughout. The synopsis, title and cover were perfect for the storyline.
WELL, WELL, WELL, where to even begin? What an absolutely unique page turner!!! I mean where the hell (no pun intended) have you been all of my life Brad?? i will admit that i am not a fan of reading books out of order but when I was given the opportunity to read this book I jumped at the chance regardless of the that that it is a sequel to Brad's 'The Devil's Advisor'. As I have previously stated this book can be read as a standalone though and I had absolutely no problems reading it as one. Any events that had previously mentioned and that was appropriate to need to know about this book was covered in enough detail to ensure a new reader was not confused about previous events but not in too much detail as to bore a previous reader. There is a silver lining to reading any books that are part of a series out of order and that is the fact that i can now go back and read Brad's previous book in this series along with other previous books he has written while awaiting his next guaranteed success!! This book takes us on a journey into hell and its business 'S.I.N Industries'. We meet Brian who is the CEO of 'SIN Industries'. Dahlia who is Brian's partner but also the daughter of Lucy who is Satan, Lord Allanah who is Dahlia's Aunt and Lucy's Sister but is part Heaven, Gabrielle AKA Death, Marcy who is Gabrielle's head Reaper, Angel's Hark and Herald, Hellion's Sal and Dani, Michael AKA War and Sasha Perrin a notorious investigator just to name a few and to give you an idea of the type of characters you will meet in this one of a kind page turner!!! There was so much going on in this book from looking for replacements for certain characters, treachery, discovering about where the souls go, characters being killed to see what it is like when someone else dies, the selling of souls and so, so much more!! To discover more you will just have to grab your copy for yourself and I can promise that you will not regret it!! This truly is a one of a kind, clever and intriguing page turner that I just could not put down!! Our main protagonist is Brian but we see what is going on from the perspectives of several other characters throughout the book and Brad manages to weave them together to form an absolutely explosive storyline perfectly!! I was absolutely absorbed throughout this page turner. It is filled with tension, suspense and omg the action!!! One of the most gripping unputdownable and unique books I have EVER read!!! I absolutely loved the depiction of Hell which was definitely not what I was expecting and it is always nice to have a surprise in books especially after reading so many through the years!! I loved discovering all the different aspects of Hell and Heaven and some great twists in between!! Brad, you have one hell of a talent and I cannot wait to get hold of your previous and future books! I cannot remember the last time I was so hooked by a book but you managed that big time!!! The storyline is filled with shocks, suspense, humour, tension and so much more! There was so much going on and it was very fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Brad's writing style and depth had me so engrossed that when I looked up it took me a moment to realise I was even reading!! Clear your schedule before you start as I read this in one sitting as I could not put it down!! I was absolutely hooked!! I would absolutely love to see this turned into a TV series or a movie!!!! This is a fantastic book in what promises to be an explosive and addictive series and I am looking forward to reading the previous book in this series 'The Devil's Advisor'. In fact as soon as I have written this up I'm jumping straight into it! I loved the multiple narrators and I just couldn't do 'just one more chapter' and ended up devouring it in one sittings of a few hours.
Clear your schedules before even looking at the first page as you will not be able to put this book down!!!!
Although this is the second book in the series I would had absolutely no problems reading it without reading the previous book. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
I was completely invested in both the storyline and the characters. Each of the characters had their own unique personalities and I felt differently about each of them. I absolutely loved discovering and learning about each and every single one of them and watching he interactions between the different characters from Hell and Heaven. Brad's brilliant writing skills ensuring you can see, feel and hear them as if you are standing next to them throughout the pages. I am definitely looking forward to meeting them all again in 'The Devil's Advisor' along with other characters. All in all a great mix of characters that worked well with this storyline. Congratulations Brad on creating and capturing such unique and intriguing characters and bringing them to life!!
This book has got to be in my top 10 books of all time and considering I have read hundreds and hundred that is one hell of an achievement!! Welcome to my favourite author list Brad and keep writing these fantastic books!!
Congratulations Brad on a true page turner! This may be the first book I have read by you but it most definitely will not be my last!! Here's to your next success 🥂
Overall an absolutely unique, hilarious, suspense and tension filled addictive, intriguing and explosive addition to a promising series!!!

I don’t know if I missed something or what, but I was very lost reading this book. I thought maybe it was a sequel and perhaps I just needed to read the first book first but it doesn’t appear to be one.
Death’s Successor is a whirlwind of celestial politics, business deals with Hell, and some very human struggles. Brian’s journey from CEO to death’s right-hand man (literally) felt like an epic juggling act, and honestly, it was quite entertaining. He’s running Hell, filling the shoes of the Archangel of Death, and trying to keep his company afloat—talk about a chaotic to-do list.
Dahlia’s character, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. Her emotional journey felt somewhat lacking, especially when compared to the scale of the cosmic drama. Her grief and search for purpose could have added more depth, but I found myself wanting more from her.
The story had some great moments, especially when it dove into the odd mix of bureaucracy and the afterlife. However, the pacing felt uneven at times, and I struggled to stay fully invested in parts. Still, if you love tales of angels, demons, and boardroom drama, this could be a fun read for you.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Good Omens by Terry Prachett and Neil Gaiman is one of my top 3 favorite books of all time so when I saw this book likened to it I jumped in with both feet. But the best I can offer is meh. The concept is great but the delivery was lacking. It jumps right into the story with no introduction which sometimes can be a good thing but some background, heck even a few flashbacks would have been welcomed. I honestly thought that this was part of a series and that I had missed the first book. But nope. It tries for dry humour but doesnt succeed.
I couldn't finish this one or get past 30%. There was no backstory, no explanations about characters....I felt completely lost reading this. I like the premise but that's all this book has going for it.
My biggest issue with this novel is that it reads like a sequel. There's little explanation for the character’s behavior other than brief mention of events from the past. The premise is great, but lack of fully fleshed characters leaves you wanting more.
