I was a bit scared I’m not gonna lie when I saw this was third person. Normally, I have a really hard time getting into books from 3rd person pov but this book hooked me immediately and I genuinely laughed out loud so many times! It was so fun and witty and I had an absolute blast. Thank you Berkley and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this🫶🏼

Fan Service is a funny, campy, steamy, paranormal romance, that’ll have you howling until the last page!
4.5 rounded up! I had a lot of fun with this read! A lot of fun banter and chemistry throughout the book. There was one line (I won’t spoil, but IYKYK) that was so out of the blue I was cackling. Alex was a great character, I felt many of her decisions and lines of thought felt authentic. Devin was a roller coaster! He was truly a flawed MC, and I appreciated that. He doesn’t always make the right decisions, but he does take the time to think through his actions (even if it’s after the fact). The supporting characters were all fun, although I wish we’d heard more from Alex’s best friends. A great book to escape reality for a little while!

This is Danan at her finest! Sharp, witty, nuanced, emotionally rich. It's everything you want in a romance. There is one thing that seems incongruous at the start of the book, but this is explained later in the book, so hang in there if you're having trouble suspending your disbelief.

I never got into fan fiction when I was younger but this book made me wish I did. The MMC, Devin, played a werewolf on tv when all of a sudden he can actually turn into a werewolf?! And who better than to help him, our FMC, Alex, who was the moderator for the hit show. This was so entertaining and spicy!!! When she tied him up!?? Literally screaming. Such a fun time! Was it cheesy? Yes. Was it unrealistic? Also yes. BUT if you’re looking for some fan fiction nostalgia this is the perfect book for you

This is a book that is providing fans of fan fiction .. a traditionally published outlet. I thought it was good and enjoyable, but it is definitely not my favorite book of hers. It was entertaining, but forgettable. It took me over a week to read when I read a book a day usually.

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced reading copy! This book was the perfect blend of cute, fun, and thoughtful, and one of my favorite books by Danan. At first I gave this book 4 stars, but then I moved it up to 5 because I think it did everything so well and it’s one of the most fun fantasy romances I have read in a while. I really liked the whole premise of this book: girl has crush on the star of a TV show, crush ruins girls' fantasy of him, they meet and need each other as adults for various reasons, and fall in love. As someone who has fallen for and learned the flaws of someone who they had a crush on, I think they nailed this perfectly. It’s sweet and complicated to fall for someone who you hold on a pedestal! I think that Devin was a great MC because of his messy flaws - he’s out of touch, egotistical, but falling for Alex taught him to let people in and made him better - and same for Alex in terms of learning to love after her mom left and being ostracized in a small town. Also this book is about someone becoming a werewolf (amidst all this trauma bonding) and that part was fun and well done. Overall this book worked, I loved the pacing, I laughed out loud, I loved the trauma bonding, it was sexy, and overall it was a great blend of thoughtful and fun. Highly recommended for fans of Danan, contemporary fantasy romance, and fan fiction.

Teen Wolf fanfic. I am not the right person for this one.
I'll stick with contemporary romance fiction.

Thank you Berkley for the arc 🩷
This felt like it was written for the fan girls, the outcasts, the die hard lovers, and fanfiction readers.
Imagine you a fan girl obsessed with one of those 2010 paranormal teen shows like Teen Wolf or Vampire Diaries and that actor comes into your life needing your help because he’s actually turning into a werewolf and you’re all he has.
Ngl I walked into this thinking it’d be similar to Bride of The Fake Mate but it definitely had a way more contemporary spin to it without a lot of the true paranormal aspects you’d expect as this was more a coming into transformation. I wasn’t 100% appreciative of this until the 40-50% mark and from then?? LOCKED IN!
I feel like the characters were written pretty realistic given their scenarios… Devin was forced to be an actor his whole life and being in the industry can really shape a person and their weird ways of thinking. Rosie really captured that so well with the MMC and even though he came off slightly immature, the scenario and the high emotion he was feeling made it make sense.
Rosie though was my personal star of the book. I loved her and how sweet, caring, and goofy she was. As someone who was pretty much bullied all her life and has mommy issues, she was incredibly lovable. Her stressors were so realistic and I really adored that about her.
All in all this was honestly such a unique premise and I had so much fun with it! (Would’ve ATE during spooky szn)
P.S any books with “lessons” or “trials”??? MHM. COUNT ME IN!

I got an ARC through Net Galley!

Alex was the Mod for a forum for a the show "The Arcane Files" and when she was 17 met her hero the actor Devin Ashwood who was the lead in the show. and you know what they say about meeting your heroes.
Years later, Devin contacts Alex through the forum after he "wolfs out" on Venice Beach. He believes he is a werewolf and wants her help. Alex thinks she will go along with this and in the end be able to laugh and get back the actor while making some money. Ends up though they have chemistry and Devin's wolf likes her.
They work on being themselves as well as putting Devin through the same trials his character went through.
Lots of fun pop culture allusions as well as questions about what is a fan girl to do when the her former hero redeems himself to her.
Obviously for fans of Olivia Dade's Spoiler Alert Trilogy and TV show Supernatural.

Thank you to Berkley & Netgalley for the E-ARC.
This simply felt like teen wolf fanfic where the biggest fangirl ends up with the actor of her favorite show since she'd been a teenager.
Fan service gives exactly what the title says, Fan service.
Personally tho, I wasn't a fan of the MMC. He wasn't special or anything, he definitely is one of those actors who can't move on from their most known work. And that to me was a TURN OFF.
He was also just an asshole to the FMC, she was often there to cater to his needs but there was no reciprocation on his end.
This is a silly romance read to pass the time with but other than that it's not a piece of work I take seriously.

As someone who grew up with my own niche teen werewolf show obsession, I had high hopes for this read. We follow Alex and Devin years after the show has ended, while Alex navigates adulthood as a previous fangirl and fan-forum moderator for Devin's show. Devin is struggling to find work since his breakout role in the werewolf show, but finds himself actually turning into a werewolf during this mid-life crisis. He reaches out to Alex to help him understand why and how this is happening to him, and their romance kicks off from there.
Rosie Danan's humor is not the same as mine, but that doesn't always mean I will hate her writing. But this book's attempts at jokes and a humorous tone felt grating and distracting for me. I found myself often cringing at my Kindle as I read and actively disliking both characters, their dialogue, and their individual character motivations. I think if you can find a way to like these characters, you'll really like this book. I simply couldn't, which really impacted my reading experience.

📣 he’s not perfect but sweeter than she thinks
Thanks, @berkleyromance & Netgalley for the free book! All opinions mine.
📖 are you a part of any fandoms? What’s something you get nerdy about (beyond taking pics for booksta 🤣)?
Fan Service by Rosie Danan didn’t have me totally feeling like I had found my fated mate, but it is hot & heart-satisfying.
Devin is an actor who wants to revitalize the role that’s his claim to fame: a werewolf. But no one in Hollywood is into his plan, & then he inadvertently turns into a real life werewolf 🌖. Humiliated by a recent public shift & alone, he turns to the moderator behind the fandom archive for his former werewolf show: a woman named Alex who lives in middle of nowhere Florida.
This is one of those stories where you have to lean into it all.
Though Devin made me mad sometimes, I also appreciated that he wasn’t a perfect person & he could still love others even though he’s self-absorbed & used to the spotlight that even he places on himself. The fact that he’s most in danger of shifting uncontrollably when Alex’s in pain really got to me 🥹.

I adore Rosie Danan's books and this is no exception. Delightful, funny, honest, and always sexy as hell. Leave it Ms. Danan to make a washed up tv star from a beloved supernatural show turning into an actual werewolf remarkably relatable. This totally absorbing second chance romance with just a touch of supernatural kink left me happily breathless when not making me laugh out loud and even a bit misty eyed more than once. An absolute must for contemporary romance fans and anyone who eagerly waits, as I do, for Ms. Danan's latest.

Rosie Danan is a must read author for me. Her foray into paranormal romance is a delightful read from start to finish. Alex and Devin have a past, well she has past with him and yet Alex is the only person who can help when Devin suddenly becomes well, furry. A great combination of humor, heart and Danan’s trademark steamy scenes!

This book was everything: Supernatural reminiscent, very tumblr c 2010-1015, werewolves! Ruth does embarrassingly cute interactions so well. I read this as an arc and then immediately bought her previously written titles.

I wanted to like this so much but I’m throwing in the towel at 35%.
I just do not like Devin. Or Alex for that matter. Devin is self absorbed and his inner POV is constantly reminding us of how rich he is and how hot he is and whatnot, while also dragging Alex seemingly every time they interact. For a man in his 40s he’s acting very ‘just out of high school’. It’s just not leaving a great taste in my mouth. Alex is also not my favourite. She’s exceedingly abrasive towards basically everyone from what I saw, even her dad. She doesn’t seem to have moved on from high school, either. I find both of them very immature for their respective ages.
I also find that there’s a lot of emphasis on how Alex’s town just straight up hates her. She’s constantly having bad things happen and it just felt like too much. Especially the confrontation in the parking lot. That just felt uncomfortable for me as a reader and unnecessary.
I appreciate the various references to fandom culture and friendships. That was the best part of what I read. I love when fandom bleeds into mainstream books like this and it helped keep me plugged in for as long as I did.
If you like fandom culture and watched Teen Wolf maybe give this a try? It wasn’t for me but it might be for you.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

The star of a long-running paranormal series on a CW-like network turns to the mod of the show’s fan site for help years after the show ends. It appears he has turned into a werewolf with characteristics like the one he once played on TV. Who could be better to help him than the person who detailed every facet of the show for each of its 13 seasons?
It’s simply too bad that she’s still harboring resentment against him for something that happened between them when she was a teen.
At a glance:
- Dual POV
- Celebrity romance
- Fated mates
- Black cat + golden retriever
- Teenage crush
- Small town + a bit of Hollywood
- He falls first
- Caretaking
- Jewish rep
- Bi rep
- Endometriosis rep
- Submission + power exchange
A collection of assorted thoughts I had while reading the book:
- This is highly entertaining
- Big grins over what a simp he is for her at times
- She is so guarded
- She may be resistant to his charms, but his inner wolf has decided she’s the one 👀
- I love how they help heal each other
- I like this training to handle his inner wolf with the show as a guide angle
- You can tell Rosie Danan had fun writing this, and I mean that in the best way
- Oh my heart
- I’m going to call this one werewolf-lite
- I love how Danan incorporates the elements of the wolf
- Danan does a fantastic job balancing humor, emotion, and heat in this one

I received an advance copy of the ebook from Berkley. All review opinions are my own.

This was fun! I enjoyed the characters and was instantly enamored with them, I'm a sucker for a paranormal romance! The plot felt a little lack lustre but didn't deter from my experience, I feel those who enjoy stories more character driven will enjoy this one

4.5 stars rounded up!
This was SO funny. It was truly a love letter to fandom culture. So many times throughout this book I saw my exact experiences mirrored on page. I could tell that this was written by someone who had spent their lives within fandom!! Some experiences shown in this book are simply too niche for the average person to know.
I loved the characters, especially the FMC. She was so relatable to me, I loved how she was shown to be grumpy, "ice cold," and the way she shut people out when she was feeling vulnerable. Me core!!!!
Admittedly, the MMC did frustrate me at times because the way he spoke to her sometimes was just not okay- even though you could tell through his internal monologues that he had good intentions. He was cocky and small-minded at the beginning of the book, which makes sense given his childhood. That being said, I loved reading his character development. I loved watching his mindset expand and seeing him learn to care about others in a new way.
The romance worked for me!! I loved them together. They were so funny and their personalities meshed well.
The plot was hilarious and was so perfectly ridiculous. It really captured that early 2000s CW show feel.
Overall I really loved this and definitely recommend it!!
I will 100% be reading more by this author!
I received a free digital copy of this in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!

I am sorry to say, but this book was such a disappointment. I have loved every other Rosie Danan book she has written and was excited to read this paranormal romance book but I think it just missed the mark.
To start, Devin is simply not likeable. I can appreciate a good redemption arc, but this book didn't give him one. I was put off from him but the very first comment he made to a young Alex because it was just so cruel, and he didn't get better. Even near the end he was mostly irredeemable and I'm not entirely sure what Alex saw in him besides his look and her former starstruck feelings for him.
The parts about the show were a bore. Maybe it's because I didn't watch Teen Wolf (which it seems like the show in this book is based off of) or because I've never been a particular fan of scripted television, but I typically skimmed every section that went on about the show details.
I liked a lot of the background characters including Alex's dad but even those parts weren't worth the second hand embarrassed I got from Devin's antics, both in and out of his wolf form.
