Book 16 in this incredible series. It's brilliant. It is well written, with a good plot and the characters are credible with plenty of twists and turns
A great addition to the Gina Harte series. This book can be read as a standalone or part of the series. I love Gina because she is a strong woman and does not back down. A great detective book to keep you entertained!
One last prayer by Carla Kovach is the 16th book in the series and yet again the author does not disappoint.
When a young mother Nell is found murdered and her eyes taken out, Detective Gina Harte does everything she can to find the killer who has left a Nell’s small son Alphie an orphan. The local vicar Sarah looks after Alfie whilst the investigation is in progress and until they find Nell’s half-sister Maeve who also might be in danger. Because at first thoughts that Nell’s father is the killer, or is he?
This is another gripping thriller from the author, somewhat more complex that others, with a lot of red herrings along the way. But nevertheless, an enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the next one. 5 stars from me
Book sixteen in this series featuring Detective Gina Harte. Interesting story with many twists and turns plus some personal stuff going on in Ginas life. A good read.
Kovach delivers again!
4.5 Stars
Red flags everywhere, but I did foresee how this mystery would end. Carla crafted another story that keeps you engaged from start to finish, weaving snippets together that had you questioning all the characters but not quite knowing who responsible for the 2 murders they were trying to solve. The ending has a nice lead in to the next book or future stories.
“One Last Prayer” is the sixteenth book in the Gina Harte series by author Carla Kovach. This is a series that I have dipped in and out of disregarding the book order. This lackadaisical way hasn’t really spoilt my enjoyments of the series although I do appreciate it would be better read in order.
The book starts with a young mother named Nell racing home holding her son tightly in her arms oblivious to what danger lies ahead in her own house. Her body is discovered the next day by Sally the local vicar and the hunt for a savage killer begins.
Sally is a very good character and is a victim and a witness, her courage and empathy add a layer of emotion to the story. Sally struggles to make sense of Nell’s murder as well as facing threats to her own life.
The story is well paced and in my opinion this is the best book I have read in this series up to now. DI Gina Harte needs to catch the killer before they strike again.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I love Detective Gina Harte and her team and book 16 does not disappoint. This time we meet two half sisters Nell and Maeve. They have been estranged since the death of Maeves mother. When Nell is brutally murdered leaving behind her toddler son Maeves life is thrown into chaos. Did her Father kill her sister and who will take care of the young child now. As the local Vicar is also attached Gina is not only on a race against time to keep everyone safe but it also struggling with her own health and some messages from an anonymous person who seems to have a grudged to bear. Roll on book 17.
Omg. when do I get my hands on book 17
I love this series. The characters are fantastic and Gina is awesome

Thank you for the opportunity to review
Here we are on book 16 in the DI Gina Harte series, and what a story it is! This book, (as per the previous 15), grabbed me from the very first page - I couldn’t put it down. It was great to see the return of Sally the vicar, who along with Jerry and Toffee added a new dimension to an already established and well written crowd of characters. The plot was thought-provoking and unique, and throughout, the writing is engaging. There are a multitude of supporting characters, which in turn create a host of twists, turns and red herrings. Very highly recommended.

It's a page-turning crime thriller and a good addition to the series. read this latest Detective Gina Harte Book 16) by Carla Kovach over 4 days. It was a fast paced thriller and kept my guessing right to the end. Love the authors style of writing and would highly recommend .
Another enjoyable read that sees Gina and the team try to solve the murder of a young mother. When Gina hears from the local vicar that this young women may have been a victim of domestic abuse it brings back bitter memories for the detective. So much so that she links feeling unwell with ptsd but has she ignored the warning signals for too long.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book
It was great to read about Gina and her team again another excellent read, I was gripped from the first page when a girl was found dead in her garden with her eyes taken Gina is called to investigate a very complicated case with so many red herrings she definitely has her work cut out as she is also battling with an illness.
Carla Kovach’s books are so good they keep you reading well into the night.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
After a parent toddler group Sally is cleaning and finds a note that says HELP ME! She rushes to Nell’s house and find the child crying and Nell murdered. Who murdered her? Why? Then there is an attack on Sally. Who is out there murdering and why? A thriller you won’t want to miss!
Carla Kovach has done it again by continuing her books about Detective Gina Harte with Book #16! They are fabulous reads with so many twists and turns that you will find yourself speeding through all the chapters! I'm hoping Ms. Kovach never stops writing DI Gina Harte stories for us to enjoy.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
I always look forward to a new DI Harte novel and this one did not disappoint.
The plot bombed along nicely and it was nice to see some new characters, I certainly hope that vicar Sally sticks around.
Gina’s health issues were believable and a nice change from the usual killer/detective connection.
I thought the plot got s little too convoluted as it went on with possibly a few too many characters.
Overall, I enjoyed the read and will certainly be in the queue for the next instalment.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
I have love the Gina Harte books since The Next Girl. I am exctied to see that the series is still going strong.
Gina is called in to investigate a murder of a young mother who appears to have been hiding secrets from everyeone. When her primary suspect is taken out of the equation she is left to wonder how many secrets the victim had?
At the same time Gina is facing a health crisis and threats from an unknown, possible known person who seems to want to make her pay for the past.
It was great to see Gina having a friendship with Sally and keeping her wits about her. There was a side story with finding out the paternity of the little boy left behind that was actually the most predictiable part of the story.
I enjoyed finding out the "secrets" and will for sure continue to read Gina to see who wants her to pay.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy to offer my opinions.
Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for book 16 in the Gina Harte series.
I couldn’t put it down! The storyline was, as always, addictive and gripping.
The ending well …… when’s the next book please as I really need it now?!!
I cannot recommend this series highly enough.
A brilliant, addictive fast paced thriller read in this brilliant series with Gina Hart

I read One Last Prayer (Detective Gina Harte Book 16) by Carla Kovach over the weekend. It's a page-turning crime thriller and a good addition to the series.
The plot was interesting and unique. I really like the familiar characters and getting to know new characters. They are three-dimensional and believable. The writing keeps you engaged in the story, and there are good red herrings. The story is fast-paced.
I loved the dogs, Jerry and Toffee.
One Last Prayer is a thrilling mystery with credible characters and an atmospheric locale. There were sneaky antagonists, false clues, suspense, and tension.
I would recommend this book and this series. I am looking forward to more as there is yet another plot twist that involves Gina, which has me anticipating what is going to happen next with her.

Just when I was beginning to loose hope with my tbr pile Carla swoops in to save me with a whopper of a thriller!
I love Gina Hart and the series that Carla has created with her as lead. She’s a mature, knowledgeable and hardworking detective who respects her team and can sometimes take a risk. Now on paper that sounds deadly dull but in reality it makes for a really strong character development. One which allows for the story and all of the emotions surrounding the crime to really come to the fore.
This series for me is a guaranteed must read set of books. I know what I’m going to get with Carla and she is consistently top of her game delivering fast paced, thrilling and yet brutal murder mysteries.
You don’t need to have read any of the series to pick up this book as whilst it’s a part of a much larger series of books this, and all I’ve read before it work really well on their own. My only criticism on that note is the addition of these stalker-like emails and harassment emails. I feel like I’ve either missed a byline or skipped a book to understand why they are relevant or needed in this story. If it were me I’d remove them as I felt they deterred from the narrative and didn’t come to any fruition.
Loved it! Can’t wait for more! … Be prepared to be entertained!
Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
