Emily McGowin challenges the traditional family that we often call the biblical family these days. She creates spaces for all kinds of families and lifestyles. However, I have to say that I did not agree with her in much -- for example saying that our traditional family is based on Genesis 1-3 only and therefore not valid for us these days -- forgetting that those arguing such, include not just Genesis 1-3 but the rest of the Bible too.
A solid overview of Christian parenting and family life with some interesting theological reflections on the topic.

What an insightful book! I really appreciated the bountiful references to scripture as well as the author’s personal perspective told through stories of her own family, The introduction starts from a strong POV and it is carried throughout the book. She challenges the typically exalted biological nuclear family model and advocates for family units that may look different while still pursuing Christ. I especially liked her teachings on Sabbath-ing as a family, We’ll worth the read!
