Gabby has returned to her home town with her n’er do well brother in tow. She has been hired by a successful children’s author to illustrate his books. She knows she is responsible for trying to keep her brother out of trouble but who is going to keep Gabby out of trouble. You see, Gabby has visions and the one haunting her is the murdered woman in the lake. The problem is the murder has not yet occurred but she meets a disabled woman, Gigi, who shares the same ability. And when Gabby stumbles upon the scene she has witnessed in her visions, things get really intense.

Mitch, her brother, is a suspect so the two of them join forces to try and figure out the identity of the killer. A number of exciting things are going to happen to Gabby before she puts pencil to paper and draws a picture of the villain. But Gabby cannot believe she is right. Up until the point where she is threatened by the killer, Gabby had not done anything really dumb. Even she realizes that she has made a boneheaded mistake but rescue comes from a totally unexpected source. The take-down is quite fun.

Strong but imperfect characters to whom the reader can relate, an interesting story that kept me engaged throughout, I did enjoy this read. I hope there are more books with these characters. Five purrs and two paws up.

I thought that this was a great premise for a cozy mystery. I am so happy that I read it. I do not know where to start. Gabby was a great character. She is a person trying to help her younger brother, and make money. All while going back to where she grew up. She runs into old teachers, old friends and her brother and her make new friends. Her brother Mitch meets a girl, and he really likes her. I felt so bad when Gabby started to draw a woman dying. I knew that it was not going to be good. I really liked the banter between brother and sister. Especially how they defended each other against their mother. I also have to mention Luigi, their beagle, he saves the day! I loved that the author included a special needs character. I also loved the tablet that Gigi used. There was a great cast of characters. The paranormal aspect only added to the mystery. It was a great creepy read, especially right before Halloween. There is also an art theme included in the story. I can not say enough about this book. It was a great length nd had no loose ends. I did not know who the killer was, and I was surprised at her motive. I did not see it coming. I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy, however all opinions are my own. I can not wait to read more from this author.

There's a lot of potential in this series and I think it's going to be a very entertaining and solid one.
There's a mix of small town vibe, paranormal, dysfunctional family that works well together.
I liked Gay even if some parts were a bit funny like being a secret smoker. I also appreciated how she was able to stand up to her bossy mother.
Gaby is a psychic who has vision of future and she shares the gift/curse with another women in town.
The mystery is well plotted and solid. There's surprising twists, there's humour, and a cast of well plotted and relatable characters.
I liked Gaby and I'm curious to read about her in the next novels.
Recommended.
Many thanks to Teresa Trent and Partners in Crime for this digital copy, all opinions are mine

Color Me Dead by Teresa Trent is now being released in hardback. The story of Gabby and her brother Mitch was an interesting one and the addition of Gabby's ability to see a dead woman and the mystery surrounding the visions was interesting. Of course, the addition of Luigi, the beagle adds to the fun. This would be an additional purchase if one didn't already have the earlier edition.

Likeable cast of characters in this story of an artist who sometimes paints her visions. Gabby and her brother, Mitch, moved to Henry Park for her opportunity to illustrate a children's book. Her sketch of a woman's hand coming up from the water of the lake gives her a sense of foreboding, but so much about the town is welcoming. This series has a lot of potential.

As an artist, Gabby Wolfe has an eye for detail most people miss. But Gabby takes that gift one step further—the ability to see the dead. When she “receives” a picture, she succumbs to a trance-like state and lets the vision and her body sketch the picture of the revelation. Now that she’s returned to her childhood home along with brother Mitch, the visions have progressed.

Fortunately, she’s been hired by a local author to illustrate his children’s book. About the same time, she meets Gigi, a girl in a wheelchair who also has the same psychic ability. Reluctant to divulge her limited knowledge to law enforcement, she draws support from Gigi.

Yes, of course, it’s a cozy mystery, so you’ll be suspending some disbelief, but the novel enjoys a moderate pace after a slightly slow start. I enjoyed Gabby to an extent, but didn’t thoroughly invest in her character.

Twists and turns, little bits with the beagle are fun. The narrative adds smoke screens to make it more difficult to guess the perp—but I had my suspicions.

This is the first in a new series that will appeal to those who love cozy mysteries along with a specific paranormal ability.

This was an interesting concept for a new series. Using art and a bit of the supernatural was a good combination. At times the setting and characters were confusing to know who was who and such. That should hopefully get better in future books. I will be looking forward to seeing how the next book in the series goes.

I mostly enjoyed this book. The plot is good, interesting & the characters are ok. But there are inconsistencies in the script. Like Clarence invites the main characters to a party he refers to we invite…who is we, he’s the only person there besides the main characters… Mitch sits on a chair that’s never mentioned in the setting before hand.. Setting changes that abrupt. It makes the story hard to follow. #ColorMeDead #NetGalley

While Gabby is a gifted artist she also has the gift of being able to draw the future. While working on a new project she draws a young woman. But she’s torn between saving her new job and saving the young woman. How can she explain this gift and save the girl without becoming an outcast? It’s a tough choice, but she’s got to find a way.

An interesting concept and
The author executed it well. I would definitely read more from this author.

#ColorMeDead #NetGalley is a fantastic cozy mystery that I had the pleasure to read, thanks to #NetGalley.
Gabby Wolfe is an artist who has been asked to illustrate a new children's book by a well known author.
Not only is Gabby a talented artist, she has visions of things about to happen, and when she gets a vision of a young woman dying, no one believes her.
Through her own determination and the help of others, Gabby soon begins to put the pieces together, hopefully in time before she becomes the next victim.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.
