Perfect for fans of spicy fantasy romance with a dash of the supernatural!
Heir of Sin is a charming and spicy debut that blends a rich re-imagination of Djinn & seven deadly sin myths with a delightful slow-burn romance. The story follows Keira, who, in a desperate attempt to win back her lover, seeks the help of a seductive and enigmatic Djinn of Lust, only to find herself entangled in much more than she bargained for.
One of the novel’s standout features is its unexpectedly wholesome tension, combined with plenty of heat between the two leads. While the story leans heavily into beloved romance tropes (he teaches her, one mattress, etc.), Qvam injects a refreshing emotional depth into her characters. Keira’s journey of learning about love and pleasure feels authentic and surprisingly empowering, offering an experience that was unexpectedly healing for me.
Despite being a shorter read, Heir of Sin doesn’t skimp on (fittingly light) world-building. The Djinn mythology and the concept of the seven deadly sins as djinns are inventive and captivating, drawing readers into a colorful and engaging universe that’s both whimsical and dark. Qvam skillfully weaves in several intriguing characters, adding layers of intrigue and making the story feel rich, even with its shorter length.
A debut that will make you fall in love with the imaginative powerhouse that is C.L. Qvam - imaginative writing, full of romance, heat, and a touch of magic. It’s the kind of book that leaves you wanting more, and I’m excited to see what Qvam will deliver next.
Unique, fresh and oh so hot! This is the perfect romantasy to dive into. I was captivated from the start all the way to the end. C. L. Qvam wrote an exceptionally good story weaving in all my favourite aspects of a romantic fantasy novel.
This is one I see myself returning to often for rereads!
This book is SO UNIQUE. The lore, the concept of the djinn. The book catches your interest, immediately from the start. Of course, following Keira’s logic made me want to scream. I had to remember that she is a woman with heart on her sleeve. That she just had rose colored glasses on and will do anything for her love. I despised how she was made to feel, but so glad when she starts to realize her own power and strength. Seeing her journey of self love and learning to be accepting of her own desires, was amazing. Then cue, Elijah, I loved his character so much! I honestly need a whole other book with him in it! lol the way he has Keira’s best interest, and supports her decisions. I was so happy with the ending of the book, and I honestly need more!
Fantastic, fresh and sinfully sexy! I read a lot of romantasy and sometimes it get predictable- this is not that story! I binged this, irresponsibly so. Who needs sleep with an irresistible Djinn on the loose?? Perfect weekend spice for the chilly season.
Great overall book! I wish there was more to the romance since there was a ton of tension throughout. I would recommend this book to romance fans
The world building was incredible. I always say that im a sucker for good world building and it’s true. Amazing world building always gets bonus points from me. I’ve never read a book about Djinns and didn’t even know what they were before this book but this has opened my eyes to whole other world. This book was fast read and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Thank you to C.L. Qvam for creating Elijah, he’s my new obsession and all I can think about now
This was a book I really wanted to like but struggled with. I felt like the writing was strong with great descriptions of the setting as well as the townspeople but I didn’t love Kiera’s story and character development. I get what the author was going for but I feel like it was clunky and one dimensional. I felt like the love story that evolved between Kiera and Elijah was flat too and too slow in some areas while too much in others. Overall the book wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either.
Thank you Net Galley for the ARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and Qvamington Press for an eARC copy of Heir of Sin by C. L Qvam.
In Heir of Sin, C.L Qvam tells the story of magic, desire, and the complexities of love. Set against the backdrop of a world recovering from the tyranny of a fallen emperor, the story follows Keira, a young woman caught in the turmoil of unrequited love and unexpected enchantment. Despite her grandmother tell her it's a bad idea, her desperation for August, a man who is promised to another, goes to seek the aid of a djinn. One whose enigmatic charm and mischievous nature, becomes both a guide and a challenge, urging Keira on a journey of self-discovery. What really shines is the character development throughout the narrative. Keira evolves from a hesitant, heartbroken girl into a more confident and adventurous woman. Which, while she can be annoying, this is only apart of her growth within her journey. In a way, it reminds me of Chihiro from Spirited Away and how she grows throughout her time in the spirit world. Overall, Heir of Sin is an enchanting read that masterfully blends fantasy with heartfelt emotion. Reminding us that sometimes the things that we fear the most can lead us to the greatest discoveries about ourself and our capacity for love. It is certainly a wonderful read and I cannot wait for the second book.
"With August, you're like a predator hunting after her prey, and yet you do not recognise that they have taken your claws and made you into their pet.
May you allow me to help you find your claws again?"

TW: mention of sexual assault (no detailed descriptions)
Heir of Sin introduces us to Keira, a servant girl who is in love with August. He is from a well-off family has come to claim their ancestral estate, which happens to be the one she and her tragically deceased parents were previously living in. In a "gracious" turn of events, the family allow her to live in a cottage on the estate's grounds. We quickly learn that August's family and friends do not wish for them to be involved, and they not only discourage it - they're looking for another potential bride for him.
Keira is able to steal a moment with August during a town hunt, but it quickly goes sour. He coerces her into performing a sexual act, which she performs in fear of losing him, and she becomes the laughing stock of the town when not only are they caught... August becomes engaged to another girl shortly thereafter, convincing Keira it must be her fault. She seeks advice from her friends, the forest witches, and she stumbles across a lamp that contains Elijah - the djinn of lust.
Summoning him into her home, the pair begin as enemies, with Keira begging Elijah to help her win August back. Slowly, throughout the story, we see her grow out of her naivety. However, there's one big motivator for her leaving August behind. Elijah offers her lessons on how to find her own pleasure, how to receive it, and to offer it to others... And let's just say his lessons are very... Hands on.
Throughout the book, we see the two turn to friends, then to lovers, all while Keira evolves as a character - from a lovesick girl to a confident, brave young woman, finding love and empowerment in a million different ways along the way.
GIRL!! This one had me blushing and kicking my feet for reallll. I finished this book and immediately missed the characters and considered reading it again. I was initially concerned this book was going to be majority spice with less of a focus on plot, but that wasn't the case. This was... Incredibly sweet? And I wasn't expecting that at all!
As someone with trauma, this book's themes hit very close to home, but Elijah's relationship with Keira felt like a salve over all of my wounds. While Elijah has rakish tendencies and a clever tongue that regularly results in plenty of fun banter, he also has a heart of gold. He helps Keira find a way to be unapologetically committed to herself, as well as her own desires for love and pleasure, while never, ever pushing her to do anything she doesn't want to do. He's genuinely willing to help Keira win August over, even when he doesn't feel like he deserves her, simply because he just wants her to keep true to her heart, even if it's the last thing he wants.
I appreciated the pacing of this book a lot, and while I wouldn't have minded a few hundred more pages in Elijah and Keira's world, I think the author did a really good job of not rushing the story with its shorter length.
All in all, I really loved this story, and I can't wait for the author to add to the series, whether that's with other couples, or more of these two.
When Kiera makes a deal with a Djinn, despite all her grandma’s warnings, things quickly change in her life, and not how she expected. Kiera makes for a relatable main character and rooting for her and her relationship are easy to do. This story gave us a look into a perspective that is often not told in published writing and was refreshing to see. This was a quick, moderately spicy read that gave me just enough peeks into the world whilst still making me interested in the stories to come. I look forward to reading more by this author and continuing with the series.
The cover drew me in first but then the blurb really called my attention. This book was a great read! With a unique worldbuilding experience and the details of the djinns, was amazing. I can’t wait to get book 2 in my hands.
This book had me engaged from the beginning. Plenty of world building for a shorter book. Keira is an exceptional female lead. She has an extreme amount of growth and Elijah cares for her in a way that she needs even before she realizes it.
The chemistry between the two of them is so loving and cute. The spice fit this book so well. It wasn’t heavy but it was perfect for the storyline. I just wish there was a bit more. It was a lot of TENSION but then cut off quickly.
The world building was great. I really appreciated the time spent on it.
I can’t wait to read more about the siblings I think their storylines will be great as well.
This is an ARC read via NetGalley 🤍—Reviews/Opinions are honest and my own. I will review on TIKTOK after release date- @abbi.dawn2

Set in a time of night ladies and judgements passed on sexuality, this story is a refreshing tale of female sexual expression and awakening.
We follow the story of Keira, an orphan living in the groundskeeper’s house of her family’s old estate, as she grapples with the complexities of love and lust. Her story speaks to me, as I’m sure it will many others, as she attempts to mould herself into the person a boy wants her to be, believing his happiness is worth more than her comfort. She has a good friend who aims to steer her in the right direction, but ultimately she makes her own mistakes and learns her own desires along the way.
The MMC is delightfully modern amongst the archaic views of those around them, helping Keira to explore herself and discover her own sexuality and freedom. He acts as a wonderful example of a respectful partner, ensuring the comfort of his sexual partner and gaining consent in every scene.
The overall plot of this story is relatively simple, with minimal twists, but this does not make it any less enjoyable, the plot develops at a satisfying pace.
Overall, this is a delightful story of feminine power and sexual exploration. It actively works to dispel themes of shame and disgust surrounding female pleasure.
I was really interested in the concept of this book, having not read much with djinns before. That part of the story was fun and interesting. I loved Elijah from the beginning because he was a cheeky and entertaining addition after a rough starting premise for Kiera. Kiera was a little bit of a challenge for me. She starts off vary naive and has obviously not benefited from the societal expectations of her time/community. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like she entirely moved away from that. I would have loved to see more growth and maturation. There were awesome moments of clarity, but they didn't feel fully realized. This is a part of a series, so maybe we will see her continue to change even if she's a side character. I appreciated that the hometown boy was awful from the drop, and I didn't have to make any hard decisions. 😂
Thanks to Qvamington Prese and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review!
Whilst I enjoy fantasy romance, this just fell off the mark for me. I found I didn't overly enjoy the FMC and found her immature and annoying, especially with some of the decisions that she made. This in turn lead towards a lack of chemistry between her and Elijah.
I hadn't yet read a book involving Djinns and felt this had potential with a concept not really tapped into in the BookTok/Bookstagram world, yet the story didn't really grasp the magic that I was hoping for. At times I was confused and had to reread chapters, as I was unsure of what was happening. It was also extremely fast paced and at one point I looked to see that I was already over half way and not much of the story had progressed.
I always want to be honest when it comes to book reviews. Whilst this may not have been the book for me, it will be for others. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to review this ARC,
Marking this one as not for me. Found this really difficult to get into and could not connect with any of the characters. I like the messaging but didn’t enjoy the writing. The juxtaposition of old and modern was also jarring. I really wasn’t enjoying it so had to DNF @ 45%
Fun, quick, "he falls first" read. The FMC's naivety is irritating at times, but it makes sense to the story. Overall, the story is good. Elijah's worshiping of Keira is my favorite part.
Really enjoyed this book and the main characters the wanting the yearning kiras healing journey and just Elijah in general I really enjoyed this spicy book it has jinn magic spice and more

“The need to appear superior is always rooted in a sense of inferiority. True superiority is not so easily rattled by others.”
I went into Heir of Sin with no expectations, and while I liked it, I think it just wasn’t long enough for me! I wanted to stay in the world a little longer. Some people love a quick, fast-paced read though. I just didn’t want it to end! The good news is, I’m definitely looking forward to the next book and seeing where this series takes us.
Now, let’s talk about Keira’s journey of self-discovery with her djinn, Elijah. Watching her heal from trauma while he’s just patiently (and lovingly) there for her was a beautiful thing. Elijah? He’s head over heels from the start, and meanwhile, Keira is the last one to realize she’s fallen. It’s a slow burn, but in the best possible way.
The resolution was a bit speedy, but when you’re working with a shorter story, you gotta wrap things up quickly. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but I was hoping for a little more drama before the dust settled.
A solid, fun read with some spicy moments sexual empowerment, and emotional growth. Already looking forward to the next story!
