Thank you Netgalley + Publishers for this E-Arc !
This book has mature content and is VERY EXPLICIT so please check trigger warnings before reading !
A very quick read but very captivating 👀
Elijah and Kiera are a very interesting couple whose adventures had me HOOKED !
The world building was good , and the wiring style was very easy to get through!
I couldn’t get enough ! And even tho this is full of slide , I loved the positive female sexual exploration!
Heir of Sin, Fallen Sins #1
One of my favourite dedications I have seen in a while! ‘To the women who were made to feel small, so that the men would feel big, I give you Elijah’
This was a fun read that sucked me in quickly from the beginning. It was fast paced and I loved the story of Keira & Elijah and the Djinns which felt refreshing after a lot of the usual fae Romantasy books of the moment!
A big focus of the book is female sexual empowerment and overcoming the expectations and shame that are often placed on women by small minded society which I liked. The MMC Elijah is genuinely sweet and loveable and Keira though very naive is endearing by the end
Im definitely looking forward to the second book in the series!

Heir of Sin is such a good story. I loved every single second of this book. I rated it 4 stars because I couldn't put it down for a second. Loved it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the e-arc.
This was a quick easy romantasy with some saints and djinns and gods. There was minimal world building and 🌶️🌶️🌶️.
The FMC, Keira starts out wanting to win the heart of the man who she grew up with and is in love with through a stolen lamp with a djinn. The djinn, Elijah, helps her with this goal while also helping her accept and explore her own sexuality. I love the underlying message here about women reclaiming their sexuality, which is such a strong message but I could the execution of this and the plot to be rushed.
Keira and Elijah’s relationship jumps quickly to insta love and I found her to be really naive and immature in the beginning of the book. This actually wanes off later though and the plot picks up but there are some random things that happen to the side characters that seem so uncharacteristic and out of no where. One of which is someone who comes off as a bully in the beginning and then at the end has a redemption action/arc that has me super confused.
Overall this was a fun read and a great palette cleanser.
This didn't quite meet all of my expectations. The spice was spectacular and I'm a big fan of the sex positive theme througout the story. But the naivety of the FMC for most of the book really got under my skin. At times she spoke and acted like a young teenager, which is not what I want from an adult romantasy. The MMC fell for her rather quickly as well. The ending was hot but felt a bit unfinished. I'd be open to reading more from this author, I feel like there's a lot of potential there. Thank you Netalley for the ARC.
Magic, Mischief and Mayhem, this book has it all!
I was really drawn in by the premise of this book, and I feel like it really delivered on everything I was wanting and more!
It had a unique plot and magic system, and a well built world with lore that isn’t too confusing to remember. I really liked hearing about the past and hope that we will learn more about the relationships from that time and how they lead to the events in this book.
The romance and spice were way better than I was expecting, I had no idea how much I would like the MMC Elijah, I felt like he was patient, emotionally intelligent and just seems like a good guy. I liked the FMC but I felt she was a bit too naive for someone who has been living on their own for so long, but that might just be because I’m not a super big fan of the misunderstanding trope, others may like her a bit more than me.
I really loved how sex was approached in this story, it has a great message about women becoming comfortable with their sexual wants and needs and not letting men take advantage of them or make them feel bad about it! 4.5 ⭐️’s 3-4 🌶️’s
Thank you to C.L. Qvam for writing this book and sharing it with us.
Big thank you as well to Qvamington Press and NetGalley for my no cost ebook copy of “Heir of Sin”.
I received this advance review copy at no personal cost and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Looking for a spicy escape filled with magic and a swoon-worthy shapeshifter?
Then look no further than C.L. Qvam's Heir of Sin!
This fast-paced novel dives into Keira's journey of self-discovery. It's not always smooth sailing (think grown woman coming-of-age rather than innocent teenager), but that's what makes it so relatable. Get ready to root for Keira as she navigates a world of magic, confronts her desires, and maybe even makes some questionable choices we've all been there, right?
Here's why you'll devour this book in one sitting:
* A morally complex MMC named Elijah. Forget the sparkly vampires, this book boyfriend brings the heat (and the secrets!).
* Unexpected plot twists that will keep you guessing. Just when you think you know what's coming, BOOM a curveball.
* A satisfying blend of fantasy and romance. Escape into a world brimming with magic while getting swept away by a sizzling romance.
If you loved Once Upon a Broken Heart, A Court of Thorns and Roses, or Kingdom of the Wicked, then Heir of Sin deserves a spot on your TBR!

In this KINGDOM OF THE WICKED meets ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART tale, C. L. Qvam's debut NA romantasy, Heir of Sin, readers are introduced to a world djinns are real and naked as sin, and their stories intertwine with the lives of seven women who dare to summon them. Each story follows a differet set of characters and each djinn represents one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
The story follows Keira, a young woman determined to win back her lost love, August. Desperate to rekindle the relationship, Keira enlists the help of a sinful djinn, striking a deal that she hopes will give her the upper hand, despite her better judgement. However, as the djinn leads her on a journey of self-discovery, Keira soon realizes that the stakes are far higher than she ever imagined—her heart, not just her body, is on the line.
Pros:
Engaging Characters: Elijah’s charm and wit make him a standout character, while Keira’s journey of self-discovery feels empowering. Elijah is very witty and I laughed out a few times at their back and forth.
Pace: This is a very short read. Each chapter is short with fast-moving plot that gets to the point very quickly
Unique Concept: The combination of djinn lore with romantic and magical elements creates a fresh and intriguing narrative. While many reimagination of fairytales and greek myths exist, the concept of djinn is very rarely explored.
Cons:
Frustrating Protagonist: Keira’s naiveté and tendency to overlook obvious signs can be a bit annoying even for a spicy read, however if one can overlook that for the sake of the "action" then it will be a pleasant read.
Rushed Ending: The conclusion feels hurried, leaving readers wanting more resolution and development. However, for that we have been promised more books in the future.
Conclusion
Heir of Sin combines beloved romantic tropes with a unique fantastical twist with a lore that goes deep. One can expect the lore and stories.
Heir of Sin has an intriguing premise, but I found it hard to follow due to the numerous plot twists and changes. The rapid development of Elijah’s feelings for Keira also felt a bit abrupt and didn’t quite make sense to me. While I can see the effort put into the book, it didn’t quite work for me. Others who enjoy fast-moving stories with lots of elements might find it more appealing.
This was a fun romantasy break from my usual reading. Nothing absolutely special about it but it had a good message about positive sexuality which was nice. I think the demonstration of what a good partner vs a bad partner was executed well in this book. A lot of these romantasy novels struggle with making the romance reciprocal and consensual so I appreciated that! If it wasn't consensual, it was a central plot point and impacted the story.
I think most of the ACOTAR and Fourth Wing girlies will also love this! A good mix of soft world-building and romance.
This was a quick paced romantisy, which was really easy to get into. The world building wasn't too difficult to keep up with.
Keira, an orphan, enlists the help of Elijah, a djinn to help her convinse the man she loves that he should be with her. However he is betrothed to someone else, and has no interest in Keira. But naturally, she realises there's someone else that's taken over her heart.
I was really intersting to read about djinns, as they're not the "norm" when it comes to fantsy books, so I found that really interesting, and it does keep you hooked as to what's going to happen next. The FMC was a little annoying at times, but her being naive was part of the plot. I wish the last quarter of the book was a little more fleshed out as it felt a little rushed (could also be that I just didn't want it to end).
Iys a rounded up 4.5 ⭐️ for me
This story, was a quick read, not only because it's page count but because it sucked me in. The story was captivating and moved at quick pace. I felt all the emotions, I even cried once towards the end. The author really keeps you on your toes with multiple plot twists. Keeps you thinking and engaged in the plot. My only deduction is because I wasn't very fond of the FMC. Through part of the book she was so naive and only saw what she wanted to see, it was kind of annoying. But the MMC... *chefs kiss!! He is funny, and sweet and so witty but his pet name for FMC is now my favorite of all time.
🔸️Pros- Short chapters, quick pace
🔸️Cons- The FMC was kind of annoying
🔸️Favorite Character- 100% Elijah
🔸️Least Favorite character- August
🔸️Favorite highlight/Quote- If you’re what it means to be a saint, I’d rather be a sinner,
🔸️Would I read it again? Definitely
🔸️Would I recommend it? Yes
🔸️Will I continue the series? For sure! I have even already put my name in for the ARC of the next one cause I don't want to have to wait.
Quick and easy read, spice full of emotion. It starts more on the romance side, easing you into the world and letting you get to know the characters, and about halfway the fantasy part takes the lead and plot twists start coming.
This is the first in a series of interconnected stand-alones, and opens many plotlines that I hope will be picked up in the next books. As a fantasy reader, of course I wish there was more worldbuilding, and that the ending could become much longer (even another book! But then it wouldn't be a standalone) but I know these are expectations of a different genre so I haven't taken that into account when rating:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Great read, very recommended.
🌶️🌶️ - Lots of spice, open door yet sweet and emotional.
⏳- Quick read, could easily be an "all-nighter"
I’m sorry but this wasn’t really my jam. It’s not a bad book. It is well-written. The plot and characters just weren’t my taste.
4⭐️ 2🌶️
Main Tropes: He Falls First, Hidden Identity, He Teaches Her
Firstly thank you so much for the ARC of Heir of Sin in exchange for an honest review!
I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to get into and the story was cosy and sweet. It draws inspiration from a few different tropes and lores, giving strong cottagecore vibes especially in the first half.
Both the FMC and MMC were really likeable, although I found the MMC quite difficult to visualise due to his changing form.
There was actually so much world building crammed into just over 200 pages. I was quickly immersed in the world of Illnora and excited to see this will be the first in a number of romantasy novels in the same series. The latter half of the story could have been developed a little more / been a bit longer, but the book still flows well.
Overall I really enjoyed it and I’m keen to go back and read the authors debut trilogy now!
I absolutely devoured this book! I hadn't heard anything about it or this author before seeing the cover on netgalley and it piquing my interest, but I'm so glad that I requested it and was accepted. I was hooked from page one right up until the end and even after I finished it. It was a quick, fast-paced read that hit me in the emotions in way that I truly wasn't anticipating- but my word, did I love every second of it. Heir of Sin has everything a reader could possibly want in a book- magic, djinn, witches, betrayal, angst, heartbreak, healing, and so much more!
I really enjoyed this book (but the ending, see below), the characters were engaging, the concept was interesting and nothing Ive read before and the pacing was really consistent. I could not put it down
Would recommend to lovers of OUABH. The smut was also very nicely written
What I liked:
- FMC is not sassy, just a lonely girl trying to find somebody to be with and learns to stand up for herself more
- MMC really does feel like a more adult version of Jacks. As someone who loved OUABH, I absolutely loved this
- the book has a nice message regarding female sexuality and associated shame in society, which is also mentioned again by the author at the end
What I didnt like:
- right at about the 70% mark things just went downhill for me. It felt rushed? Could probably have used an additional 50 pages or so. I really did not like the turn of events and even less so the resolution of the conflict. There were some plotholes in the end and it just made me sad cause the book started so strong. I almost wanted to give 3 stars but the first 70% just had me so hooked that I believe it does deserve 4 stars
- As I have not read the trilogy before and therefore have no prior knowledge about the world, the worldbuilding itself felt a bit thin. Might be because I lack the extra input so take that with a grain of salt.
