This is a fast-paced, easy quick read that is definitely a pager turner, action packed, mystery, mayhem, suspenseful, stalker, sabotaging, romance and a plot that held captive. I received an ARC via NetGalley, Independent Publishers Group | The Writer's Suite and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
What a bummer, I got approved for this book and before I could finish the title and write my review it disappeared from my shelf. I do enjoy JL Campbell writing style and it sucks that I was just getting into the story and it disappeared.
I don’t even know what happened to the dress just as the storyline was gearing up it was gone.
I really enjoyed this story. It was definitely a page turner. I felt the chemistry between Rajay and Michele. I was on edge at times because of the stalker and Michele not understanding the seriousness of the situation. The detail that went into describing the restoration of the dress had me imagining how beautiful the dress looked. I was happy to see how this turned out.
Operation Ivory blends romance, suspense, and adventure in a fast-paced narrative set against the unpredictable elements of a Chicago blizzard. The story centers around Michele DaCosta, a talented bridal gown designer, who finds herself in an unexpectedly dangerous situation. Tasked with completing an elaborate dress on a tight deadline, Michele is also dealing with a mysterious stalker connected to the bride. Adding complexity, the groom has gone missing in the Middle East, and Michele is trapped with Rajay Chamani, the bodyguard assigned to protect her.
As the weather worsens and tensions rise, the chemistry between Michele and Rajay builds, leading to moments of both tenderness and intrigue. J.L. Campbell effectively combines elements of romantic suspense with thriller-like urgency, keeping readers engaged as the duo battles both external threats and their growing feelings for one another. The wintry setting intensifies the stakes, as the couple races against time to not only protect the wedding but also survive the storm.
Readers who enjoy romance mixed with high-stakes drama will appreciate the evolving relationship between the protagonists. Additionally, Campbell’s choice to explore themes of trust and vulnerability underpins the characters’ emotional journeys throughout the story.
The book promises to appeal to those seeking a cozy, yet thrilling, winter read. I highly recommend it. This is another page-turner by J.L. Campbell.
Fans of the Kings of the Castle series will enjoy this new "spin off" of books centered on the upcoming wedding for one of their members. Operation Ivory introduces Michele, professional seamstress, and her assigned bodyguard, Rajay. This novella gives the right amount of tension between the main characters and you root for them to complete their assignments and recreate the perfect wedding dress. The various scenarios involving disastrous travel and a stalker rachet up the tension.
Another wonderful book from J. L. Campbell and a solid entry into the world of the Kings of the Castle stories.
I absolutely love J.L. Campbell's writing style. She never disappoints! Operation Ivory is no different! I love the chemistry between Rajay and Michelle. She is a woman that can definitely hold her own in adversity. Rebuilding the family heirloom gown that was destroyed in an "accident", Michelle would have been working against the clock had Rajay not figured out how to delivery the goods on time.
This is a well written book that I totally enjoyed.
