There’s so much to this book. The basic plot is strong, covering often complex relationships as well as the protagonist’s journey towards independence. But the subtext is almost overwhelming. It made me think about discrimination, acceptance, misogyny, addiction, grief, eugenics, trauma and how humans keep on going. I loved it,
