It’s not remotely the time for Christmas movies or books but when #Netgalley send me this ARC I needed to at least read it. It definitely made me yearn for a snowy night with some hot cocoa to curl up and read this.
It’s a charming concept about a couple trying to save their bookstore they inherited from a deceased family member. They face ups and downs in a very Hallmark movie style way (in my opinion). The story ebbs and flows in terms of the pace but if you want a charming, quaint and sweet holiday novel to curl up with, this might be your cup of tea (or cocoa).
Thank you Net Galley and publishers for this ARC.
This was such a fun and festive read, so if you are looking to set the scene in your life for the holidays, this is a good book to put you in that mood. Ed and Florrie own a bookshop, which is decked out for the holidays with unique displays. However, Ed gets a call from his father and then proceeds to become a bit guarded with Florrie thereafter. A few days before Christmas, Ed disappears and Florrie is worried the holidays will be ruined. What exactly is going on with Ed?
This was a part of a series, which I had not known, but luckily you do not need to have read the other installments to understand the underlying story and characters. Overall, the best part of this book were the holiday experiences and descriptions. They drop you right into the story!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Even though we are not at the holiday season yet reading this book brought me there. My two favorite things Christmas and a bookshop. Florrie Appleton and Ed Harte run Happy Hartes Bookshop.. With the times changing Ed and
Florrie are trying to come up with new ideas to keep this bookshop afloat. Since Florrie and Ed took over the bookshop from his deceased grandfather the two have done so much to the bookshop. Even with a hear stopping phone Calle from Ed’s dad and some suspicious things happening at the shop. Florrie was still determined to have a wonderful Christmas and give Ed all the special Christmas surprises he never had. All was fine until Ed leaves without warning. Is he leaving Florrie again to break her heart again? How will she then keep a powerful developer from gobbling up her bookstore?
This is a cute novel that makes you want hot chocolate and snow. I usually do not have a problem with a book in a series. I sometimes felt I didn’t know the characters as well as I should. I still loved the book and would recommend it. It’s uplifting and fun. I will also check out the rest of the books in the series.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishers for the ARC and Ms. Scott for a delightful book. Looking forward to reading more by Ms.Scott.
The Christmas spirit was there, but the pace was a bit too slow for me. Overal, this is a good book!
It was great to revisit this group of characters. Although part of a series, there is enough information to make sense of the background, however, reading all the books does give context. The description of Christmas in winter was fascinating for me, as I live in Australia and made me want to go somewhere for a white Christmas, with all the trimmings. With a few misunderstandings and a bit of skullduggery thrown in, there is an entertaining story, with a heart warming atmosphere. Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for a chance to review this book.
So lovely to get back to Micklewick Bay , this time with Florrie and Ed again. They've spent the last 18 months building up the Happy Hartes bookshop into a place people want to visit regularly. But they're once again having to deal with Dodgy Dick trying to get them to sell! This time its Christmas, with all the festivities, memories to be made, laughter and joy. It was wonderful catching up with all the 'girls' and the happenings in their lives. Such a fun series.
Thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing, and Eliza J. Scott for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love all things Christmas so i absolutely loved this book!
A cosy Christmas read!
Thanks for the opportunity to read & review it.
This was such a cute read. It's the perfect book to curl up with over the festive season. The story was easy to follow and had a good cast of characters. I did find the pacing a little slow but once I got past these parts I enjoyed it more. Overall a good novel that I would recommend to other readers.
💜 Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for my copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my fault again. I did not check if it was a part of a series. And of course it was, book number 4. . So I feel I cannot do the book justice without reading the series in the right order. I would like to tell though the book was very atmospheric , you could feel the christmas spirit. You could smell christmas if that makes sense. Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion
I was delighted to be approved for an ARC of Christmas at the little Bookshop by the Sea having read the previous book. What a treat to catch up with Florrie and Ed and all their friends and to find out what was happening, it really felt like catching up with old friends!
Eliza J Scott writes with such fantastic description that I could actually imagine everything she described, from the decorations in the shop to the sleigh ride and even her glasses fogging up ( which mine do when it’s cold)
A really lovely, easy, comforting read that made me wish its Christmas already!
The book was an interesting read but it was something different from what I expected. It was slow in certain parts but picked up in others. There was some growth to the characters. This book was very well written. I didn’t really enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It was lacking something more for me.
