Thoughts
Just recently, I had the opportunity to spend more time in Australia due to work and visited Perth for the first time earlier this year. During my stay, I decided to delve into Australian-based romance novels, intrigued to see how they compare to the American romances I'm accustomed to.
Things I Loved
The Banter - The delightful pranks played between Bridget and Sully had me laughing out loud and smiling at the ridiculousness. It was truly enjoyable.
Slow Burn - I appreciated the gradual development of the main characters' relationship. It added depth to the story and kept me eagerly engaged. No insta love in this book, always love me a good grumpy x sunshine.
Aussie! - As a newcomer to Australia, I found the small, specific references in the book absolutely charming. It made me feel more connected to the setting and culture.
Things I Didn’t Love As Much
Length - While I enjoyed the story, I found the close to 500 pages to be a bit lengthy for an easy, breezy rom-com. I wished for more moments between Sully and Bridget after the captivating build-up.
Epilogue - The final section of the book didn't resonate with me as much as the rest of the story.
To sum it up, this novel was the perfect beach read - I devoured it in one sitting on the beach. I was so pleased with it that I've already placed an order at my library for another one of the author's books! Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
