Absolute corker of a book - I love a Christmas novel and being the second Christmas novel that I've read by Kristen Bailey, it didn't disappoint.
Maggie works with three guys, all of whom spend a certain amount of time with her over the festive period so that she isn't alone. I loved all the characters, especially Jasper and the sub characters too added such a fun yet dramatic element at times! There is a crossover of characters from Bailey's book Five Gold Rings which is really heartwarming. The author's style of writing is so easy to read, good fun and awesome. Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy.

Hailing from a small family, Maggie Fields finds herself with plans to spend the Christmas holiday solo. But when her three male workmates learn she will be all alone, they decide to take her in. With a full schedule, Maggie finds herself attending three very different celebrations. Will the holiday break bring Maggie closer to each of her coworkers, or will it drive a wedge between the tight knit group?
Kristen Bailey charmed me with this delightfully sweet holiday story!
We Three Kings is a romance, but I would argue the strongest example of love is that of philia and not eros. The relationships between the entire IT department; Leo, Maggie, Frank, and Jasper restored my hope in humanity. The four not only came together during times of need, but actively helped one another become the best version of themselves.
This book also contains:
-workplace romance
-fake dating
-friends to lovers
-holiday festivities
-laugh out loud moments
-found family
Special thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing, and Kristen Bailey for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
I tried to get into this one but I couldn’t get my brain to connect to the story unfortunately. I sadly have to many books to get to I had to put it aside.
Rari. Me faltó amorsss
Kristen Bailey’s ‘We Three Kings’ is a heartwarming and delightful holiday story that explores friendship, loyalty, and the challenges of balancing personal and professional life, all set against the backdrop of festive adventures.
The novel follows Maggie, the head of an IT department at a large financial firm, who has built a tight-knit, supportive team of three: Frank, Jasper, and Leo. When Maggie shares that she'll be spending Christmas alone, her team steps up, inviting her into their families' holiday celebrations. However, a tough professional decision looms over her: she must decide which of her beloved team members will be made redundant just before the holidays.
One of the strongest aspects of ‘We Three Kings’ is how real and relatable the characters feel. Maggie, as the empathetic leader who goes above and beyond for her team, is easy to root for. Frank, Jasper, and Leo aren't just colleagues; they feel like true friends who genuinely care for Maggie, making their collective dynamic heartwarming and authentic. Each member of the team brings something unique to the table, from humorous antics to meaningful moments that deepen Maggie’s bond with them.
The romance in the story is sweet and uncomplicated. Leo is Maggie’s primary romantic interest, and their relationship is charming in its slow-burn development. This is a closed-door romance, with only subtle innuendo, which may appeal to readers looking for a more wholesome, low-key love story. The lack of drama or love triangles also ensures that the focus remains on Maggie’s journey of friendship and self-discovery, rather than on romantic complications.
In addition to the engaging character development, ‘We Three Kings’ delivers a festive, feelgood atmosphere that makes it a perfect holiday read. From fake dating at a wedding to sneaking selfies with a donkey, the book is full of fun, lighthearted moments that will keep readers smiling. The various holiday celebrations and adventures create a vibrant setting for Maggie to grow closer to her team, and the stakes of her difficult decision — balancing her professional responsibilities with her deep connection to her colleagues — add emotional weight to the story.
Ultimately, ‘We Three Kings’ is a celebration of found family, loyalty, and the power of friendship. It's an enjoyable, cosy read for anyone who loves workplace romance, friends-to-lovers stories, and heartwarming holiday adventures.
If you're in the mood for a feelgood story that captures the magic of the season and the importance of meaningful relationships, ‘We Three Kings’ is a perfect choice.

I couldn't get into this book. I really wanted to. I love Christmas-themed romances, but this one just didn't catch my interest. I couldn't connect with the characters and none of the men sounded remotely attractive.
This was a cute Christmas romance. Not too much sappy romance, it was just right. And the plot was great and engaging. Characters were all likable. It was a really well written book and I will be definitely recommending this at the shop.
𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁: So fun! Kristen does it again, another heartwarming holiday story. If you’re looking for a fun inexpensive way to travel around England for the holidays this year, look no further. This story will take you on an adventure full of friendship, love, loyalty, mistletoe, selfies with a donkey and found family.
Maggie is the manger for the company’s IT team. Her team is in the basement and is often overlooked for their hard work; so she has made it her mission to show her appreciation. She is proud of the team she has built and the sense of family she’s created. So when the team finds out her parent are taking a cruise and she will be solo this year for Christmas they step in and invite her along to their family Christmas events. But right before she leaves for the holidays she’s called into HR and finds out her team will be cut my 1 member and she needs to provide who it will be by end of year….
Follow Maggie along as she celebrates the holidays with each member of her team: Frank, Jasper and Leo. Each one of them will throw her into different situations as she visits their families and learns more about them. There will be everything from fake dating at a wedding, to saving fixes at a hunt, to sneaking in to take selfies with a donkey. Her time with them will be cherished and not forgotten which is making this decision hanging over her unbearable. What will Maggie do…

We Three Kings is full of warmth and humour. I lost count of how many times I laughed out loud. I really enjoyed the banter between characters and could imagine being friends with Maggie. I also really like the blossoming romance between Leo and Maggie - I was routing for them! The aforementioned Donkey scene was my favourite and I loved Leo’s northern friends. As a Yorkshire girl I was very impressed with the on point dialect!
This was a fun holiday read! The main characters were all likeable and the story was very mellow and easy to read. I didn’t really like the main conflict much and didn’t feel like it added to the story. I also wish there was more romantic development. But I did really enjoy the overarching story, and I like the changes in scenery!
The hilarious Maggie has no plans for Christmas, other than sitting at home in her PJ's. Her parents have gone away, she is an only child and she will not impose on her best friends family affair.
Maggie enjoys her job until she is required to make one of the three kings redundant. Maggie is fond of her staff in the IT department and you can understand why she doesn't want to let any of them go. She is so conflicted with the huge decision.
The story explores the lives of each IT nerd. All likeable characters with various backgrounds.
I like how the author, Kristen Bailey, injects humourous plots throughout. They had me laughing out loud, literally.
Thankyou to #Netgalley and publisher for the free copy of this great book, #wethreekings in exchange for an honest review.
Great romance book by a great author. Loved the story and plot line. The cover is beautiful and will definitely read from this author again
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Kristen Bailey. Maggie works in the it department and could be facing Christmas alone .
Her department take her in and she experiences Christmas with her team.
However Christmas is clouded as she has to make a decision about one of her team .
The festive holiday romance that you will need to curl up with.
Thank you for allowing me to review this book. I chose to read this as light reading after reading a heavy book. Although it is exactly as it said in the blurb a rom-com, I found it very slow. Maggie is head of an over looked IT dept with 3 very different men in her team. Each character has very different characteristics that are well written and believable. They are a real family team who look out for each other, perhaps a rarity today.
The story.is fun, but as I said to slow. for me. The ending somewhat predictable.
Absolutly loved this book, a massive warm hug of a book, easy to read with humour, the magic of Christmas and such likeable characters. What is there not to enjoy.
Maggie, boss of an IT dept with three diverse individuals who surprisingly get on very well. We get to understand the backgrounds to these three men and how they will all put themselves out to help their beloved Maggie who is going to be alone for Christmas. However she is battling with a secret which can only lead to heartache.
Beautifully written book, highly recommend.
This is a fun friends to lovers, workplace romance that I really enjoyed.
Maggie is the IT department’s supervisor, and she’s got three very different IT Department guys reporting to her.
Jasper is a bright gay guy from a wealthy background, Frank has built his life around his work, and Jasper is a smart, good looking guy that Maggie finds increasingly attractive.
This year over the Christmas holiday, Maggie’s parents are away so she’s spending time with each of the guys separately. Unfortunately, just before the holiday starts, the HR department informs her that one of her guys must be laid off to save the department.
How can she spend time over the holidays knowing this secret? How can she decide which one has to go? The ending will surprise you!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I have adored every single book written by Kristen Bailey and We Three Kings is no exception. This story is so bright and sweet! Maggie is instantly lovable from the very beginning and you cannot help but fall for the heart throb Leo, but truly I fell for all of the side characters, too! I was sorry to say goodbye to them as the book drew to an end.
This book is the perfect feel good holiday romance. Hilarious, yet warm and cozy all the way through!
Oh wow! What is not to like about this wonderful cosy Christmas book! The characters are adorable, the storyline cute & the writing funny! I also absolutely loved the nod to the characters from five gold rings!
Please write one every year!!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read an early copy of this book. I loved the dynamics between Maggie, Jasper, Frank, and Leo. Kristen Bailey balances fun and heart so well all of her books.
Maggie, Frank, Jasper & Leo 💻
🎄Maggie is the IT manager for a London firm and her three reports are shy Frank, posh Jasper and quiet Leo. The foursome are down in the basement keeping the IT matters ticking. They may not always be included in company events but Maggie makes sure their team is close.
🎄Christmas is coming, and only child Maggie’s parents will be on a cruise. Instead of a lonely time by herself and the telly, Frank needs a plus-one to his sister’s wedding, Jasper invites her home to celebrate with his family in the country, and Leo invites her to join him on a trip back home to the North.
🎄When a meeting with HR places Maggie in an impossible position right before Christmas, she knows she can’t share this information with either of the guys. Even Leo who she’s slowly starting to see in a new light.
📚 I have read most of Kristen Bailey’s backlist of stories, and they are filled with bubbly energy, real life people and chirpy banter. I am pleased to say this latest, Christmas themed story might just be my absolute favourite. I love how Maggie takes care of her team of grown guys, and the way they care for her in return. She doesn’t realise just what she means to all of them until their families share with her just how much they know about her. The budding romance between Leo and Maggie is the sweetest, and I enjoyed how the story felt like it is so much more than just two people coming together. There is community, friendship and happy families throughout. Love it ❤️
